The Meiguan Ancient Road was first constructed during the Qin Dynasty, with Hengpu Pass being the earliest pass, forming the initial link between the Central Plains and Lingnan. During the Han Dynasty, General Yu Sheng built a fort and stationed a garrison there, earning it the name "Dayuling," becoming a military stronghold. In 716, the fourth year of the Kaiyuan Period in the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Jiuling, under imperial order, rebuilt the ancient road. The project, completed in two years, features a 2-4 meter wide paved road paved with bluestone and cobblestones, becoming a core transportation artery in the Nanling Mountains.
