• Stroll through Windsor Castle, the royal family's ancestral home • Admire exquisite treasures in the national suites • Enjoy audio guides and savor the beauty of the castle Windsor Castle has been the family residence of the British royal House of Windsor, situated on a hill overlooking the River Thames. Originally built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle's design has evolved over time due to its long history, changing royal tastes, and financial circumstances, blending classical and modern elements. Windsor Castle can be divided into the Upper Ward, Middle Ward, and Lower Ward. The Upper Ward mainly features royal furnishings like the Waterloo Chamber (banquet hall) and art galleries. The Middle Ward has the Round Tower surrounded by the Rose Garden, while the Lower Ward includes Gothic-style St. George's Chapel among other attractions. The upper section primarily consists of state suites and royal private suites, renowned for their collection of royal paintings and treasures. With furniture and decorations dating back to the Middle Ages, each room here can be considered a small art gallery. The central area here is dominated by the round tower surrounded by rose gardens, originally built of wood and later reconstructed in stone. The round tower once served as a prison for royal political enemies but now primarily houses the royal archives and photography collections. St. George's Chapel in the Lower Ward is a fine example of English Gothic architecture, renowned for its magnificent stone fan-vaulted ceiling and exquisite stained glass windows. It has also hosted numerous royal weddings.Windsor · 679m from downtown

LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort is located in Windsor, Berkshire, UK. Opened in 1996, it is a LEGO theme park built on the former site of Windsor Safari Park. Centered on LEGO bricks, the park is divided into multiple themed areas and features dozens of rides and experiences, mainly targeting families with children aged 2 to 12. The park's signature area is Miniland, where nearly 40 million LEGO bricks recreate miniature landscapes of cities such as London, Edinburgh, Paris, and Amsterdam, along with iconic landmarks from around the world including the Sydney Opera House, the Forbidden City, and St. Basil's Cathedral. Vehicles, trains, and boats in the miniature scenes run automatically via underground cables and sensor systems, making the entire mini city seem to come alive. Beyond the LEGO model displays, the park offers a variety of rides. In Knight's Kingdom, The Dragon roller coaster departs from inside the castle, passing through medieval scenes built with LEGO before heading onto outdoor tracks; Pirate Shores features the Pirate Falls log flume and the Jolly Rocker pirate ship; Mythica's Flight of the Sky Lion is a flying theater attraction offering an immersive aerial adventure. Lego City has a children's driving school where kids can experience earning a "driver's license" behind the wheel of a LEGO car; Laser Raiders is an interactive shooting dark ride that takes you through Egyptian tombs. The resort also offers LEGO-themed hotel rooms and lodge accommodations, decorated with themes such as pirates and knights, ideal for families looking for an in-depth stay.Windsor · 3.2km from downtown

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is the actual filming location for all eight films in the "Harry Potter" series. After filming wrapped, the production team preserved a large number of original sets, props, and costumes, displaying them to the public across two purpose-built soundstages and a backlot. Visitors can step into iconic scenes such as the Great Hall of Hogwarts, Dumbledore's office, and the Gryffindor common room, board the original Hogwarts Express at Platform 9¾, stroll through Diagon Alley and Gringotts Wizarding Bank, and also see up close landmark sets including the Knight Bus, the Weasley family's flying Ford Anglia, and Hagrid's hut. In addition to scene recreations, this place also reveals the behind-the-scenes secrets of film effects and prop production, including animatronic creatures and special makeup techniques, allowing visitors to understand how the visual magic from page to screen is achieved. During the tour, you can taste Butterbeer at the backlot, and the entire visit is a self-guided walking experience, so it is recommended to set aside about three to four hours to savor it in detail. Unlike replica sets at other theme parks, this location preserves the original props and sets actually used in the films, offering a unique appeal for Harry Potter fans. △Arriving at the set of "Harry Potter" △Get up close with original magic props from the film series △Take a photo with your favorite scene △Walking tour of the filming locations and behind-the-scenes stories from the movie seriesWatford · 26.8km from Windsor

The British Museum

The British Museum's collection spans artifacts from civilizations across the world, with a total of approx. 8 million items, covering regions including ancient Egypt, ancient Greece and Rome, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. The museum has approx. 60 permanent galleries, and the items on display represent only a very small fraction of the total collection, with its ancient Egyptian, ancient Greek and Roman, and Asian collections being particularly renowned. The south facade of the main building features an Ionic colonnade, and the main entrance is topped by a sculpted pediment. Entering through the main entrance leads into the Great Court, a public space designed by Norman Foster with a white color scheme, where the massive semi-transparent glass roof ensures ample natural light even on London's overcast days. The Great Court was originally part of the British Library; after the library relocated, it was converted into a covered plaza, and the court displays authentic sculptures including a stone statue from Easter Island. The Rosetta Stone bears a decree of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh inscribed in three scripts, serving as the key to deciphering ancient Egyptian civilization and ranking among the museum's most notable exhibits. The Elgin Marbles are sculptural fragments from the Parthenon, dating back over two thousand years, and are now displayed in Room 18. The Portland Vase is renowned for its dark blue glass and white cameo relief decoration, displayed in Room 70. The Tang dynasty copy of Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies survives with nine scenes and holds significant artistic and historical value, though it is not on permanent display. The Chinese collection is concentrated in Rooms 33, 33b, and 95, arranged chronologically by dynasty with artifacts ranging from Shang and Zhou bronzes to Ming and Qing porcelain, among which the Song dynasty Cizhou ware "circus pillow" and the Yuan dynasty blue-and-white dish with fish and aquatic plant design are particularly worth a closer look. The ancient Egyptian galleries are famous for their mummy exhibits and are among the most visited areas in the museum.London · 33.9km from Windsor

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarch and the venue for the royal family's state events and major ceremonies. The palace has nineteen state rooms used to receive visiting heads of state and hold official ceremonies, furnished with paintings by Van Dyck and Canaletto, sculptures by Canova, and exquisite Sèvres porcelain and English and French furniture. The tour route connects magnificent halls such as the White Drawing Room, the Music Room, the Blue Drawing Room, and the Green Drawing Room. The gallery linking these rooms is about 50 m long and hangs paintings by masters such as Rembrandt, Rubens, and Vermeer, making it the essence of the Royal Collection. The highlight of the entire tour is the Throne Room. The archway and canopy were designed by architect John Nash, inspired by his experience in theater set design, creating a highly dramatic visual effect. The pair of thrones in the hall were used in the coronations of Elizabeth II and Charles III respectively, and the official portraits specially created by painters of the King and Queen are also on permanent display here. The Throne Room once served as the backdrop for the wedding photographs of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and to this day remains the venue for court ceremonies such as investitures. The changing of the guard ceremony in the palace forecourt is equally captivating. During the ceremony, a detachment of guards marches from Wellington Barracks to the palace accompanied by music, relieving another detachment to become the King's Guard—a classic scene for experiencing British ceremonial tradition.London · 32.7km from Windsor

Getting from London to Windsor by bus (702 green line) is very convenient, even without taking the train. Photography is prohibited inside the church and castle. Seeing Queen Mary's Toy House reminded me of the inspiration for many miniature landscape designs in China. I personally think it's well worth a visit. Buying tickets is also very convenient. If you want to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony, enter the castle around 1 PM to find a good spot.

Tickets were issued quickly and the price was reasonable. A must-do for LEGO fans! You can take the 702 direct bus from Victoria Bus Station 7 for three pounds. The two-hour journey includes onboard charging stations and Wi-Fi. This bus also stops at Windsor Castle, so you can head there first.

A must-visit chapel in Windsor Castle, which is included in the entrance ticket of Windsor Castle. It is managed by the church. The chapel is very high and well maintained. You can refer to and get relevant information on the audio guide. But taking pictures inside is not allowed. So I bought a 2018 edition of "The Biography of Queen Victoria" in its gift department as a souvenir. I also took a photo of its promotional photo in the "Castle Introduction" at the entrance when entering the castle, and also took a postcard of it.

Having visited the Harry Potter studios in Tokyo before, I was familiar with the earlier parts. The difference was that the London studio included an exhibit on Gringotts Castle, and during our visit, there were some Death Eater performances, which were quite entertaining. Finally, the entire Hogwarts Castle wasn't just an exhibit; it also featured a light and shadow show. If I were to personally recommend visiting the Harry Potter studios for the first time, I'd suggest going to London. Firstly, the language is more familiar to Chinese people, and secondly, there's more interaction. Also, in terms of transportation, it's a 20-minute walk from Uston Station to Watford Junction Station, where there's a free shuttle bus to the studios, which is very convenient.

My visit to the British Museum was completely transformed by Diana's guide. She didn't just introduce the exhibits; she connected the scattered artifacts into a coherent narrative of world history. From the Rosetta Stone's code and the controversy surrounding the Parthenon reliefs, to the Mesopotamian cuneiform and the historical context behind Oriental porcelain, her explanations were engaging, logically sound, vivid, and insightful. Dry history was no longer just cold text; each artifact came alive with a vibrant background. Her pace was comfortable, and she patiently answered our diverse questions. Three hours was incredibly enriching. Highly recommended! If you want to truly understand the artifacts at the British Museum, you absolutely must see her!

After visiting Windsor Castle and Chatsworth House (Darcy Estate), we then visited Buckingham Palace. If you could only visit one palace in the UK, it would have to be Buckingham Palace. Photography is not allowed inside the royal palaces, as is the case with Windsor Castle, so we could focus on the guided tour. The gift shop after the Buckingham Palace tour has some limited-edition items available only there, making great souvenirs. I bought a Buckingham Palace + Royal Horse Stables combo ticket. The product page stated that visiting the Royal Horse Stables allowed direct entry to Buckingham Palace, but this wasn't actually the case. The State Rooms and the Royal Horse Stables are exchanged at two separate locations, not far apart. However, the ticket exchange and verification are handled by different people, and the verification personnel strictly adhere to the reserved time. The Royal Horse Stables houses the Golden Carriage used exclusively for coronation ceremonies, which is worth seeing; there are also carriages for tourists to ride in and take photos.

Strolling through the town of Eton, Eton College stands quietly across the river from Windsor Castle. Founded by Henry VI in 1440, this school's weathered stone walls bear witness to six centuries of history. The towering, solemn Gothic chapel, with its hurried young boys in black tailcoats, evokes the Victorian era. Twenty British Prime Ministers have graduated from here; Shelley and Keynes both studied here, and every brick and stone is imbued with the essence of elite education.
