Liugong Island, located at the mouth of Weihai Bay, faces the Yellow Sea and connects toWeihai Bay, known as the "peach blossom spring on the sea". The main attractions on the island include Liugong Island National Forest Park, Liugong Island Expo Garden, Liugong Island Whale Museum, and Qidingshan Fort, among others. It is also home to the Sino-Japanese War Museum, making it a memorial site of the Sino-Japanese War and a patriotic education base. To visit Liugong Island, you need to take a passenger ship from Weihai, and the trip takes approx. 20 minutes. After landing on the island, it is recommended to head west to the nearby Sino-Japanese War Museum, a site museum featuring Qing Dynasty buildings such as the Beiyang Naval Command and the Naval Academy, which vividly recreate the historical scenes of the Beiyang Fleet and the Sino-Japanese War. After the visit, head north from the exit to enter Liugong Island National Forest Park, a rare maritime park in China. The park features lush pines and cypresses, blooming wildflowers, and exceptionally high vegetation coverage. Inside the park is a small zoo where travelers can see many sika deer in the sika deer pavilion. Afterwards, you can go up the mountain to visit the Qidingshan Fort and then take the cable car down, which conveniently leads to Liugong Island Expo Garden. From the cable car, you can also enjoy a panoramic view of the entire expo garden. Outside the memorial hall stands the stone statue of Deng Shichang, which comes into view when landing on the island. The buildings outside the exhibition hall mostly feature sloping roofs and a distinctive large square chimney, making them quite unique. In addition, travelers can choose to take a sightseeing bus through the forest and pine waves. The 20-minute trip offers a panoramic view of the main attractions. Alternatively, they can opt for a cruise around the island to take in the full view of Liugong Island. Courtyards 4 and 5 feature over 60 island-style pastoral rooms. [Hailv IslandNo island access from 2018 onward. Hai Lv Dao, renowned as the "fairy mountain on the sea and kingdom of gulls and egrets," lies just 2 nautical miles from the mainland. This mystical island blends legendary tales with breathtaking natural scenery, standing majestically amid the roaring waves as a secluded paradise. It serves as a vibrant sanctuary where black-tailed gulls and yellow-billed egrets coexist harmoniously, showcasing nature's wondrous cycle of life. The origin of Hai Lv Dao is rooted in a beautiful local legend. It's said that Erlang Shen, under the Jade Emperor's decree, once carried mountains to fill the sea and build Dongjing. Birds joyfully helped by carrying stones in their beaks. One day, as Erlang Shen was carrying two massive mountains near Chengshan Head, he suddenly heard a donkey braying in the East Sea and a rooster crowing on the West Sea shore. Startled, his carrying pole snapped, sending both mountains plunging into the ocean where they became islands - Hai Lv Dao to the east and Jiming Island to the west. The broken pole transformed into two towering stone pillars, one behind each island. The seagulls that had helped carry stones became the islands' eternal inhabitants, multiplying over generations until today's spectacular sight of hundreds of thousands of gulls darkening the skies. The immortal may be gone, but his magical birds remain, filling the air with their calls. Hai Lv Dao may be small in size, but it offers boundless joy within its compact space. When shrouded in sea mist, the island transforms into a mystical realm where sky and ocean blend indistinctly, with seagulls and herons calling intermittently as they emerge and vanish through the rain and fog. Every spring, Siberian seals migrate here for vacation. If you're lucky, you might discover colonies of seals basking and resting on the coastal rocks east of Flat Stone Ridge. The towering cliffs and rugged rocks on Hai Lv Dao provide safe nesting grounds for seabirds, while the abundant fish and shrimp in surrounding waters offer ample food for their young. With its ideal climate and pristine, pollution-free environment, the island has become the premier breeding site for black-tailed gulls in northern China. It also served as the filming location for the 28th Golden Rooster Award-winning movie "Gift from Heaven," which took seven years to produce. Vast stretches of hibiscus bushes, reeds, and wild jujube trees create a picturesque scene where white birds contrast beautifully with red blossoms. Across the sea, steep cliffs stand adorned with vibrant floral clusters. Hai Lv Dao, sculpted by tireless waves over millennia, rises with jagged peaks and fantastical rock formations. Together with the ebbing tides, endless ocean waves, and graceful seagulls, it forms a uniquely captivating island landscape that sparks endless wonder and leaves visitors enchanted. Note: Due to significant weather impacts on Hai Lv Dao, please check official updates for daily sailing status.Rongcheng · 35.4km from downtown

Liugong Island Scenic Area lies quietly on the vast blue waters of Weihai Bay, like a piece of turquoise polished by time, warm and rich. The island is covered with evergreen pines and cypresses; when the wind rustles through the treetops...

It's a zoo that requires hiking, which can be tiring for older people, although there is a magic carpet (I saw three sections, each with a separate fee). The sightseeing bus is located at Shen Diao Mountain; if you take it, you'll go directly to the panda enclosure, but you won't see two-thirds of the pandas. The animals here are quite active; the eagles drool while eating, there are performing gorillas, brown bears that reach out for food and spin around, and rabbits and guinea pigs lining up to leave... You'd need to spend a whole day here, but it's definitely worth a visit.

"Eastward Journey: Ode to Chengshan" is a unique, moving, live-action performance that utilizes the real-life scenery of Chengshantou's mountains and sea, creating a stunning atmosphere with its lighting and special effects. Following the storyline, the performance recreates historical events from the Qin and Qi dynasties. The actors' performances are captivating, weaving together national sentiments and personal emotions, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in a thousand-year-old tale. This spectacular show is definitely worth seeing when visiting Chengshantou, and advance booking is highly recommended.

Chengshantou Scenic Area is quite large and has beautiful scenery, especially the boardwalk and pavilions along the seaside where you can admire the various shapes of the reefs. However, there are many artificial sculptures and relatively few water sports activities.

Hailu Island, located in the northern waters of Chengshantou, Rongcheng City, Weihai, Shandong Province, is an uninhabited island that cannot be visited. The main activity is a boat tour around the island and feeding the seagulls. Known as the "Hometown of Black-tailed Gulls in China," it attracts tens of thousands of black-tailed gulls every spring and summer, making it a popular spot for observing seagulls and coastal landforms. The core experience is the boat ride: Visitors must board a boat at Longyan Port, a journey of approximately 40 minutes. During the trip, visitors can feed the seagulls up close on the deck, but walking tours on the island are not available. Best viewing time: The black-tailed gull breeding season is from March to mid-August, when the flocks are at their largest and the scene is most spectacular. From late August to September, the gulls begin their migration, and their numbers decrease significantly. Reference ticket price: The estimated price for an adult boat ticket is approximately 120 yuan per person (including the island tour, but not allowing boarding). Some pink-themed cruises may have additional charges. Opening Hours: Usually 07:30-18:00, with ticket sales and entry ceasing around 16:30. Please refer to the park's announcement for specific times on the day. Driving Directions: Navigate to "Hailvdao Scenic Area" or "Xixiakou Village Longyan Port Wharf." Parking is available nearby. Public Transportation: From Weihai Bus Station, take the "Weihai-Chengshantou" bus and get off at the Zoo stop, then take a taxi. From Rongcheng Bus Station, take bus routes 201/202 to the vicinity of the scenic area.

Aside from the slightly expensive ferry tickets, the overall experience was great. The seawater was a beautiful blue, and there were some nice bookstores and cafes on the island. We had lunch at a farmhouse restaurant on the island, where the ingredients were quite fresh and the prices were acceptable.

The cable car requires agility to ascend and descend. The first section offers only average views, while the latter section features a sheer cliff and the sea, offering a much better view. The price is worth the scenery. However, it may not be suitable for all time slots.

Torch Street is absolutely beautiful if you go on good weather days aka on clear, sunny days or snowy days! It is definitely one of the more crowded spots, but the beachfront is beautiful and so is the street view looking down to the sea. You will be met with many photographers who will ask if you want your photo taken, so be prepared to decline them or be photo-ready for good quality photos at a decent price. There are a lot of cafes around and places to eat at as well.Note: I would highly recommend taking the waterfront walkway to the left of Torch Street along the coast to walk along the coastline. It is reminiscent of Busan's Blue Line walkway but shorter and significantly less crowded than Torch Street and more quiet with beautiful sea views. Cafe Recommend: Chen'du Coffee has great sea views, coffee, and desserts. You can take the coastline walkway from Torch Street to get there!

I bought round-trip ferry tickets to Jiming Island online, which was cheaper than buying them on-site, and the redemption process was smooth. The ferry ride to the island, accompanied by seagulls flying overhead, was very soothing. The island isn't large, and the mountain trails are pleasant to walk on. There are plenty of photo spots, including a cliffside coffee shop, a white chapel, and seaweed-thatched houses, creating a charming, authentic fishing village atmosphere. It's perfect for a half-day trip, and overall, a great experience worth visiting.

If the weather is good, you'll get great photos. It's a bit far from Weihai city center, so you'll need about 1 to 2 hours to visit. You could say this is a limited-time sea view in Weihai.
