Vila Vella

Vila Vella

Vila Vella is a charming coastal town located on the Mediterranean coast, approx. 100 km north of Barcelona. The town nestles in a horseshoe-shaped blue bay, and medieval stone walls stand on the high ground at the end of the main beach. The main beach is gentle and open, suitable for swimming. You can rent water sports equipment on the other side of the bay, and a quieter, smaller beach is hidden behind the city walls. A trail passes right through the town, and hiking along the coastal cliffs allows you to explore nearby coves. The town still retains small-scale fishing, with the catch mostly supplied to local restaurants. Enjoying Catalan-style seafood dishes paired with local wine while sitting by the sea is particularly pleasant. For a different perspective, you can take a glass-bottom boat out to sea to see schools of fish and sea caves through the bottom of the boat. Summer is suitable for a beach vacation, while spring and autumn are better for hiking and exploring history.Tossa de Mar · 750m from downtown

Gothic Quarter

Gothic Quarter is the heart of Barcelona's old city and the birthplace of the city. Around the turn of the millennium, the Romans established the settlement of Barcino here; remnants of the Roman square city walls can still be identified on many street corners, while many buildings were constructed in the Middle Ages, forming the profound backdrop of this area. Strolling through it, the streets are intricately intertwined, and small squares and narrow alleys layer to create a deep medieval atmosphere. Several iconic squares in the area each have their own unique features. Plaça de Sant Jaume is the political center of Barcelona, with the City Hall (Casa de la Ciutat / Ayuntamiento) and the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya standing on either side. King's Square concentrates the Palau Reial Major, the Roman wall ruins, and the City History Museum; the museum's basement also preserves walkable ancient Roman street ruins. Placa Reial is famous for its symmetrical arcades and palm trees. The Cathedral of Barcelona is a representative work of Gothic architecture, with white geese kept in its inner courtyard, a legend related to the city's patron saint, Saint Eulalia. Pont del Bisbe is a neo-Gothic style covered bridge, with a skull and dagger decoration hidden beneath the arch. Hidden in a courtyard behind the cathedral, the Temple of Augustus ruins, with several Roman stone columns dating back over 2,000 years, are one of the important ancient Roman stone remains in Barcelona.Barcelona · 73.2km from Tossa de Mar

Mercat de la Boqueria is a public market with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, under its iron-framed roof, you will find both local residents doing their daily shopping and tourists looking to experience the local atmosphere. The stalls inside are neatly and meticulously arranged, with fresh fruits and vegetables, Iberian ham, cheese, seafood, and candies spread out like an overturned palette. The deeper parts of the market are even more interesting. The seafood section displays sea urchins, red prawns, squid, and razor clams. You can have sea urchins opened and eaten raw on the spot, and some seafood stalls can even cook your purchase for you. The back area is home to many bar-style taverns specializing in paella and local tapas. Ordering a drink and pairing it with some snacks is a great way to get a taste of the local flavor. If you do not want to sit down, buying fried seafood or other prepared foods to eat while you walk around is also very convenient.Barcelona · 73.6km from Tossa de Mar

Montjuic Hill is a wooded hill in the southwest of Barcelona and the city's central park, a great place for jogging and walking. Due to the high terrain, it is also a good place to overlook the panoramic view of Barcelona. Montjuic Hill Park has witnessed the occurrence of many major events in Barcelona. It was once the venue of the Universal Exposition in 1929, and became the main venue of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. In the past 100 years, various festivals and activities have been successfully held for Barcelona. Thanks for the hard work. It is still possible to visit the Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Museum. In addition, there are many famous museums and art galleries in Barcelona, among which the Miro Foundation, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, and the Spanish Village are all worth seeing.Barcelona · 75.6km from Tossa de Mar

Passeig de Gracia is the main avenue in Barcelona, located in the middle of the expansion area (Eixample), starting from Plaza Catalunya in the south and reaching Carrer Grande Gracia in the north. It is known as the "Champs Elysees" in Barcelona. Passeig de Gracia is also one of the most important shopping areas in Barcelona. There are enough shops here for fashionistas to visit for a long time. In addition to Prada, Gucci, Loewe, Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana, there are also Zara, H&M, Mango, etc. High street fashion brand. This street is full of tourists during the day, and the shop windows along the street are dazzling. Even if you don't go into the store for shopping, you can just look at the shop windows. If you are tired of shopping, you might as well find an open-air coffee shop on the roadside, drink afternoon tea and watch the beautiful buildings on the street and the people on the street. Plaça d’Espanya is located at the foot of Montjuïc in Barcelona. Built for the World's Fair, it is one of the largest squares in Barcelona, where several major city thoroughfares converge, and it serves as an important gateway to the museum district on the hill. The square's attractions are concentrated along a complete central axis: a pair of brick-red Venetian towers flank the entrance to Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina. The square, boxy towers, standing dozens of meters high, once served as the main entrance to the World's Fair and are now iconic landmarks of the square. Pass through thetwin towersand head up the avenue, passing the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, to reach the Montjuïc National Palace at the top of the hill. Looking up from the square, thetwin towersecho the domed palace on the hill. With its symmetrical axis and expansive view, such a large-scale landscape composition is rare in Barcelona. In the center of the square stands a fountain created by a partner of Gaudí. On one side, the old circular red-brick bullring has been converted into a shopping center, and its rooftop terrace is a great spot to capture thetwin towersand the Montjuïc National Palace in the same frame.Barcelona · 75.6km from Tossa de Mar

Old Port of Marseille

The old port area is the center of gravity and the essence of the entire Marseille region, not only because it is the origin of Marseille and was the third largest port in the world 200 years ago, but more importantly, the pure Marseille style can only be seen here. There are many famous monuments around the Old Port, including the castles of Saint John and Saint Nicholas built in the era of Louis XIV. In addition, the old port is also the life and entertainment center of the Maasai people. The area around the Old Port is a famous food district. Most of the restaurants in the port operate a famous Marseille delicacy - "Marseille Fish Soup". The "Old Port" is actually not old. It was rebuilt after the Second World War, but the locals still call it "Old Port". Apart from habit, there should be a historical sentiment in it. Every morning, the fish market here is very lively, and the wharf is full of small fishing boats and boats. The whole harbor is full of the unique leisure atmosphere of southern France. The master plan of the Old Port Mirror View Pavilion was jointly undertaken by FosterPartners and French landscape architect Michel Desvigne. A huge viewing pavilion of 46 × 22 meters, which is like a mirror, was built here. It is supported by 8 thin columns. Since then, the corners of the mirror pavilion have been gradually thinned to reduce the visual weight. The view of the surrounding old port is reflected from the ceiling of the polished stainless steel mirror, as well as the faces of thousands of tourists who stop to watch, creating a strange beauty, which not only provides a place for tourists to stop and shade, but also It allows tourists to become part of the landscape when they enjoy the scenery of the old port.France · Marseille

Tossa is really a very suitable town for vacation. The water is super clear. There are restaurants and hotels along the coastline, and there are many choices. It is a summer resort. October is their last busy month. Some restaurants and hotels have closed down. Although the outdoor temperature is still over 20 degrees, the water feels super cold when you go in. The stone town at the end of the beach is the best viewing platform in the town. It is not too tiring to climb up, and there is no extra charge. The view and scenery are good.

❤️Barcelona, Passeig de Gràcia, is the pride of Barcelona people. 🌟Count down those "weird" architectural artworks by masters: Figure 1⃣️-2⃣️: Casa Batlló, this is a story in itself. 👸 A beautiful princess was trapped in the castle by a dragon. The hero St. George fought with the dragon to rescue the princess and stabbed the dragon with a sword. The dragon's blood turned into a bright red rose, and St. George presented the flower to the princess. Gaudi's inspiration came from this story. The roof of "Casa Batlló" is arched, with colorful mosaic tiles and wavy glass ceramic pieces, like the back of the dragon, fishbone-like protruding balconies and colorful flying dragons hovering on the roof, and the cross-shaped chimney represents the hero. All these unique ideas add a layer of mythology to the design. Figure 3⃣️-6⃣️: Casa Mila, alien roof and art coffee shop. 👽 At that time, the wealthy Mr. Milà (Pere Milà) admired the Casa Batlló designed by Gaudi very much. Casa Milà was the last private residence designed by Gaudi. Now Casa Milà has become a cultural and art center, with one floor dedicated to exhibition halls and audio-visual rooms, and a suite that reproduces the modernist furniture of the time. The attic and rooftop terrace are the "Gaudi's Space" exhibition hall, which showcases the master's exquisite design and is most worth seeing. The chimneys on the roof that look like alien soldiers are fantastic no matter how you take pictures. ☕️ If you are tired of shopping, I especially recommend the Art Café on the second floor of Casa Milà, where you can eat some simple Western food and drink a cup of fragrant coffee. Figure 7⃣️-🔟: Barcelona's famous Discord District (Illadela Discòrdia). This short stretch of road brings together three buildings designed by three masters of different styles, namely the dreamy "Casa Batlló", the dignified "Casa Amatller" and the soft "Casa Lleó Morera". 🦁️ I really like the pink-toned House of Lions and Mulberry Trees. Unlike other buildings, it is not named after the owner, but after the lion (lleó) and mulberry tree (morera) in the decorative pattern. Although the exterior is not as stunning as other famous buildings, the old wooden carved elevator inside, the ubiquitous flower decorative patterns, and the use of colors highlight the vitality of this building. I wonder if the architect also has a girl's heart? 💗 Figure 1⃣️1⃣️: The Tàpies Foundation (Fundació Antoni Tàpies), which exhibits the works of the most important Catalan artists. Above the front of the building is the famous wire sculpture "Cloud and Chair". 🌹 Passeig de Gracia (Pg. Gracia) is a stunningly beautiful avenue where you will forget the passage of time.

The Old Port of Marseille is the most vibrant part of the city. The fish market bustles in the morning, cafes are filled with sunbathers in the afternoon, and yacht masts sway in the sunset at dusk. Old buildings line both sides of the port, alongside modern restaurants, and paving stones commemorate World War II. You don't need to specifically seek out tourist attractions; just stroll around, watch the ships, feel the sea breeze, or enjoy a bowl of bouillabaisse by the dock, and you'll experience the city's lively atmosphere.
