Liuchi Alley
Liuchixiang, located in Xihou Street, Tongcheng City, Anhui Province, is a famous alley in Chinese history and culture. Wanfo Lake Scenic Area is surrounded by Wanfo Lake, formerly known as Longhekou Reservoir, which is located 30 kilometers southwest of Shucheng County, about 80 kilometers from Hefei and 73 kilometers from Lu'an. The first purpose of going to Wanfo Lake is to see the lake view, the lake water is clear, and there are many small islands in the lake; the second is to see the water conservancy project. Sanhe Ancient Town
Sanhe Ancient Town is situated at the southern tip of Feixi County in Hefei, where the Fengle River, Hangbu River, and Xiaonan River converge. The town derives its name from these three waterways, with the name "Sanhe" appearing as early as the Ming Dynasty and officially becoming Sanhe Town during the Qing Dynasty. In 1858, Taiping Rebellion generals Chen Yucheng and Li Xiucheng achieved a decisive victory over the Xiang Army here, historically known as the "Great Victory of Sanhe." The triumphal arch at the town entrance, Yingwang Mansion, and ancient city walls still bear witness to this turbulent period. The old bluestone-paved streets stretch along the river, lined with contiguous Huizhou-style residences featuring gray brick walls and soaring horse-head gables, blending water-town alleys with Huizhou-style markets seamlessly. Most tours begin at Sanxian Bridge in the town center. To its northwest stands the seven-story Guocui Tower, offering panoramic views of the town and displaying Huizhou artifacts like sedan chairs, inscribed tablets, carved beds, and stone carvings. Nearby, the Dafu Mansion (Sanhe Folk Museum) recreates an official residence's hall with exquisite wood carvings, including an oversized abacus over one meter long. Northeast of the bridge, Xiangu Tower is a Huizhou-style temple funded by merchants including the owner of the time-honored pastry shop "Zhonghexiang." South along the west bank brings you to Quezhu Covered Bridge, named after Sanhe's ancient moniker "Quezhu," featuring a two-tiered eaves corridor with "beauty's seat" railings perfect for resting and enjoying the waterfront. The southern area around Old South Street and Wannian Street clusters notable former residences, including those of physicist Chen-Ning Yang, general Sun Liren, and Helu. During the Anti-Japanese War, young Chen-Ning Yang sheltered here with his family. Nearby, the famous "One-Person Alley" narrows to barely accommodate a single visitor, making it a popular photo spot. Further south stand Wannian Temple, Chenghuang Temple, and the historic Wannian Stage—Sanhe being the birthplace of Lu Opera, whose authentic melodies often grace the stage during festivals. Local snacks concentrate near Sanxian Bridge: freshly fried Sanhe rice dumplings with crispy shells, shrimp paste, crispy duck, and various river delicacies represent regional cuisine, while tea-flavored dried tofu makes for perfect street-side nibbling. Six-Foot Lane in Tongcheng, Anqing, though only 100 meters long and about 2 meters wide, is a spiritual landmark of the Chinese culture of "courtesy and courtesy." During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Grand Secretary Zhang Ying resolved a land dispute between his family and neighbors with the poem, "Why not yield three feet?" Each family yielded three feet, creating a timeless tale. This ordinary ancient lane in Anqing, with its blue bricks, gray tiles, and cobblestone paths, embodies the traditional virtues of humility, tolerance, and valuing harmony. It transcends time and continues to inspire people today: taking a step back opens up a vast expanse; courtesy and courtesy are wisdom in dealing with the world and the foundation of harmony. Today, Six-Foot Lane is not only a cultural and tourist attraction but also a classroom for moral education, silently proclaiming the enduring charm of excellent traditional Chinese culture.

On my way to Liuchixiang (Six-Foot Lane), I passed by this neighborhood and went in out of curiosity.
It was completely untouched, without any outside commercial activity; it was just a local residential area.
As evening approached, a thunderstorm was brewing, so the streets were almost deserted.

There are few people and it is quiet. It feels a bit depressed. The old street is very impressive, and the newly built houses on the periphery may be unfinished, which makes it look more desolate. No money or tickets are required, but there are not many people, which is a pity.

Sanhe Ancient Town is a free ancient town near Hefei that's well worth visiting. With its charming canals, ancient streets, and alleys, it exudes a captivating atmosphere. You can stroll along the cobblestone paths, visit historical residences, and sample local delicacies such as rice dumplings, rice wine, and dried tea. It's not overly commercialized, making for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Overall, it offers great value for money and is perfect for a short trip to experience the charm of a Jianghuai water town.

We encountered a thick fog and couldn't see anything. We took the cable car up the back mountain and down the front mountain, finally managing to see the Welcoming Pine we'd been looking forward to! Hopefully, next time we can find a particularly clear, sunny day to visit Huangshan and see the scenery under clear skies!

The scenery during the day is indeed very different from that at night; the night view is entirely a light show. The scenic area isn't very large, and it's quite beautiful when the lights are on, but it doesn't capture the full effect in photos taken with a phone. Paying 140 yuan seems a bit overpriced.

Gexian Village is a man-made ancient-style resort area, and it's recommended to visit in the evening. The daytime scenery is rather ordinary, but after nightfall, the lights come on, and the lanterns along the ancient streets create a nice atmosphere. The light show and parade performances are worth seeing. The scenic area is built on a mountainside, with many steps, so walking around can be tiring. Shops and restaurants are readily available, making it quite commercialized. Overall, the experience is average, suitable for tourists who enjoy taking photos at night.
