The Arch of Cabo San Lucas
The Arch of Cabo San Lucasis a granite promontory at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, often referred to as "Land's End." Years of erosion by sea winds and waves have carved a huge natural stone arch at the end of the promontory, which stands right at the confluence of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. One side features calm, blue waters, while the other is turbulent, making the sight of both seas in one frame quite rare. The rocks around the arch are a favorite gathering spot for sea lions, which often lie in groups on the cliffs to bask in the sun. Pelicans often skim across the water, and when approaching by boat, you may have the chance to see dolphins leaping out of the water. Winter is an especially good time to encounter migrating whale pods.
