Parc de l'Orangerie

Parc de l'Orangerie is not an orchard. It is one of the larger public parks in Strasbourg. Whether on the green grass in spring, under the bright summer sun, amidst the golden foliage in fall, or surrounded by pristine white snow in winter, groups of people—young and old, with family or friends—stroll through, creating a relaxed and elegant picture of leisure. In 1803, the Strasbourg municipal authorities built Parc de l'Orangerie to house 100 orange trees gifted by the Château de Bouxwiller. The park was initially designed entirely in the French garden style. The main paths in the park were designed by the same person who designed the Palace of Versailles. When Parc de l'Orangerie was completed, Empress Joséphine, wife of Napoleon, traveled specifically to preside over the inauguration ceremony. The palace in the center of the park was named Pavillon Joséphine. Parc de l'Orangerie underwent several renovations and expansions in the decades following its completion, with its area expanding to 25 hectares. The northwestern part of Pavillon Joséphine was redesigned in the English garden style: vast stretches of green grass, exotic flowers and trees scattered throughout, and winding paths through the grass and foliage, making this corner of the park a poetic and romantic oasis in the city. Over time, ponds were dug, rockeries were built, waterfalls were constructed, and small boats began to drift on the lake. Together, these elements form the image we see today. Today, Parc de l'Orangerie no longer has orange trees, nor does it have walls; it is open to the public 24 hours a day.Strasbourg · 2.2km from downtown

The Cathedral Notre-Dame de Strasbourg is a stunning example of Gothic architecture and a highlight of any visit to Alsace. Its towering, ornate facade, crafted from pink sandstone, changes color with the light throughout the day, creating a mesmerizing sight. Inside, the cathedral is filled with intricate stained-glass windows and a soaring nave that conveys a profound sense of awe. A unique feature is the astronomical clock, which draws crowds daily for its intricate display at noon. Visitors

Petite-France in Strasbourg, France, is a charming historic quarter that feels like stepping into a storybook. Famous for its half-timbered houses, narrow cobblestone streets, and scenic canals, it perfectly reflects the city’s Alsatian charm. Once home to millers and tanners, the district is now filled with cozy cafés, boutiques, and picturesque bridges. The area’s vibrant flowers, reflections on the water, and medieval architecture create an enchanting atmosphere year-round. Walking through Petite-France offers a blend of romance, history, and beauty at every corner. It’s a must-visit spot in Strasbourg, ideal for leisurely strolls, photography, and experiencing authentic French ambiance.

The free park is full of modern art. The benches are also designed with a sense of design. It is lush and green and very comfortable. It is the main park in the city that you will pass by when you walk towards the parliament from Strasbourg Station.

One of the best views of Strasbourg definitely belongs to Barrage Vauban with the standing three towers. The best view has to be from the air as always and the best route is above the dam opposite the towers right across. Take the stairs up to the second level and you will be able to see the whole picture. You will be able to view Cathedral Norte Dame from here as well. Be aware that the stairs will closed at 9pm during spring and summer seasons. This area happens to be the best sunset viewing platform as well.

Roughly northeast of Strasbourg, right next to the European Court of Human Rights is a modern glass-walled building. I passed by it a few times and it seemed quite empty. When there were meetings or events, they would be on alert.
