Gansbaai

Gansbaai is a fishing town and a very popular tourist destination in South Africa. It is located in the southeast of Cape Town, and there are often great white sharks in the waters near the town, so it is also a famous place for viewing great white sharks. There are many shark watching companies in Gansbaai that offer a variety of diving programs to see great white sharks. After the tourists go out to sea, people stand in special cages, and the sailors on the boat use bait tied with cables to lead the great white sharks over, and then put the cages with people down, and tourists can ride the iron cages to dive into the bottom of the water and interact with them. Get up close and personal with a great white shark, a thrilling experience you will never forget. In addition to great white sharks, right whales are also frequented in the waters here, especially near the rocky coast of DeKelders on Walker Bay, which used to be the site of the old whaling station and is now a very popular whale watching spot.Gansbaai · 18.1km from Stanford

Bo-Kaap is situated at the foot ofSignal Hill Observatory Tower, adjacent to the city center. It is one of Cape Town's oldest residential neighborhoods and the heart of Cape Malay culture. In the 1760s, Dutch colonists built a series of rental houses here for slaves and laborers brought from Malaysia, Indonesia, and various parts of Africa. These residents later became known as Cape Malays. They put down roots here, gradually forming a unique community. The neighborhood's most striking feature is the rows of brightly colored houses lining the cobblestone streets. During the rental period, all houses were required to be painted white. After the slaves were emancipated and allowed to purchase property, residents painted their facades in vibrant colors like pink, sky blue, bright yellow, and emerald green, which was seen as a celebration and expression of freedom. The neighborhood's architecture blends Cape Dutch and Georgian styles, preserving a large number of buildings from before the mid-19th century. The stone steps built into the hillside connect the various streets and alleys, which have now become paths for visitors to explore on foot. Cape Malay cuisine blends Malay and local South African flavors, and traces of this unique culinary tradition can also be found in the neighborhood.South Africa · Cape Town

Camps Bay Beach is a coastal landmark along Cape Town's Atlantic coast, renowned for its white sand and mountain scenery, and is one of the daily leisure beaches favored by Cape Town locals. The beach is backed by the Twelve Apostles, a mountain range extending from Table Mountain. Named for their orderly arrangement, the range actually consists of 18 peaks. At sunset, the golden afterglow paints the rock faces in warm tones, which, combined with the reflection on the Atlantic Ocean, creates the iconic scene of Camps Bay Beach. The beach itself is a wide stretch of white sand, curving along the Atlantic. Facing the open ocean, the water remains cold year-round, making it less of a typical swimming beach, but it offers expansive views and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for strolling, sunbathing, and photography. At the southern end of the beach, a tidal pool is embedded in the reef, utilizing the rocky terrain to create a calm, shallow area. It is a safe spot for families with children to splash around, offering views of the sunset and distant mountains. Behind the beach lies a palm-lined promenade, flanked by cafes, restaurants, and bars. Grabbing a drink and strolling along the beach is a favorite daily pastime for locals. The promenade offers unobstructed panoramic views of the Atlantic, Lion's Head, and the Twelve Apostles.South Africa · Cape Town

Twelve Apostles

Twelve Apostlesis located along the Atlantic coast of Cape Town, South Africa. The mountains rise steeply from behind the coast of Camps Bay and stand in a row facing the vast Atlantic Ocean. Set against the blue bay and the city skyline, they form one of Cape Town's most recognizable natural landscapes. The bedrock of this attraction belongs to the Cape Fold Belt sandstone, dating back hundreds of millions of years. Through long periods of geological uplift, sea wind erosion, and natural weathering, the hard sandstone has gradually formed the steep, layered, and deeply gullied cliffs seen today. Standing at the foot of the mountain and looking up, one can clearly see the rock layers undulating with the terrain, presenting a strong three-dimensional effect. From the sea or Camps Bay, the entire range of peaks stands like a natural barrier along the Atlantic coast. As visitors walk along, they have towering sandstone cliffs on one side and views overlooking the Atlantic on the other, where they can listen to the waves crashing against the shore and experience the magnificent scenery where the mountains meet the sea.South Africa · Cape Town

Post Office Tree

10 reviews
Post Office Tree is an approximately 500-year-old milkwood tree with twisted branches and a dense canopy. A freshwater spring once located near the tree was used by sailors, and Bartolomeu Dias's fleet resupplied there in 1488. In 1500, the fleet of Portuguese captain Pêro de Ataíde became separated from other ships on their return voyage. While stopping in Mossel Bay, he placed a letter describing the voyage inside a sailor's boot and tied it near the tree. The following year, a passing Portuguese fleet discovered the letter. Afterward, sailors began leaving letters under the tree to be carried to their destination by passing ships, linking the tree to early maritime communication. Today, a large boot-shaped mailbox stands next to the tree to commemorate this history. Visitors can drop postcards and letters into the mailbox, and outgoing mail is stamped with a commemorative postmark featuring the tree. The tree, the mailbox, and the related historical exhibits together form a site with a unique maritime cultural view.South Africa · Mossel Bay

There are multiple angles on the mountain to overlook the cityscape of Cape Town, the vast Atlantic Ocean and the panoramic view of the famous Table Mountain. Signal Hill is also a good place to watch the Cape Town night view, which is known as one of the three major night views in the world. There are wonderful views from multiple angles on the mountain. The dazzling, crystal clear, endless fire trees and silver flowers that stretch for dozens of kilometers are breathtaking and unforgettable. A very traditional ceremony is held every day in Cape Town at noon except on Sundays. The cannon salvo on Signal Hill was so punctual that the South Africans even used it to set clocks.South Africa · Cape Town

I traveled to Cape Town in South Africa with a group and visited the Twelve Apostles. The Twelve Apostles is a side view of the famous South African attraction "Table Mountain". It is named "Twelve Apostles" because there are twelve raised peaks. The mountains are winding, like 12 saints lying on the edge of the bay.

Due to its wide harbor and deep water, Hong Kong, China is also known as the "Pearl of the Orient" and "one of the three major night views in the world". The name of Victoria Harbor comes from Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. People can enter and exit freely all year round. In the early years, the British saw the potential of becoming an excellent port in East Asia. Later, they seized Hong Kong from the Qing government and developed their maritime trade in the Far East. Victoria Harbor has always influenced Hong Kong's history and culture, dominated the development of Hong Kong's economy and tourism, and is one of the keys to Hong Kong's becoming an international metropolis.

The Postal Tree, according to legend, in 1500, a commander named Pedro passed by here with his ship, and hung a letter stuffed in his riding boots on this tree before setting sail in a hurry. It was not until the following year that a commander of the East India Fleet found the letter. Since then, this tree has become an information transfer station connecting Europe and the Far East. The first South African post office was also established here, and the Postal Tree got its name from this. Currently, the Postal Tree is still in use.
