Giraffe Centre

Giraffe Centre was established by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife in Nairobi and is dedicated to the conservation of the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. This giraffe is found only in the grasslands of Eastern Africa, and due to significant habitat loss, its wild population once dropped to fewer than 130. Starting with captive breeding and through decades of continuous effort, the Rothschild's giraffe population has gradually recovered and has been released into various national parks and reserves in Kenya. The core experience at the center is observing and feeding giraffes up close from an elevated wooden platform. Staff provide food pellets made of corn, wheat, and fodder, allowing visitors to hand-feed the giraffes or even experience a "giraffe kiss"—letting the giraffe take the food directly from their lips. In addition to the feeding interaction, the center features an information display area where visitors can learn about the conservation story of the Rothschild's giraffe and an overview of wildlife in Kenya through brief explanations. Furthermore, a nature trail of about 1.5 km is open to visitors, winding through the woodland to the Gogo River. Along the way, visitors can observe dozens of bird species and may even encounter small animals such as warthogs and dik-diks.Nairobi · 12.7km from downtown

Maasai Market

Maasai Market

3.6
In the bustling city pulse of Nairobi, the Maasai Market is like a magnet, firmly attracting travelers who are looking for the soul of Kenya. The Maasai Market is much more than a shopping place. It is a living cultural exhibition stand and the cornerstone of the survival of countless Kenyan craftsmen. Buying a handicraft is a direct support for these artists and their families who guard traditions. For tourists, this is a good choice to bring back unique African memories - whether it is a souvenir given to others or a treasure kept for oneself, it carries the hustle and bustle of Nairobi, the red of Maasai and the warmth of the land of Kenya. Shuttle between the colorful stalls, touch the warm wood carvings, listen to the sound of beads colliding, and exchange knowing smiles with the craftsmen - the Maasai Market presents the beating cultural heart of Kenya to every visitor in the warmest way. It seems to remind tourists that the most moving scenery is often hidden in the fireworks and warmth of human feelings in the market.Nairobi · 566m from downtown

The Great Rift Valley, known as the Earth Scar, is the world's largest fault-collapse zone. It is said that due to the movement of the tectonic plates 30 million years ago, the bottom layer of eastern Africa was fractured. Relevant geographers predicted that the African continent would fracture into two continental plates along the rift in the future. The rift valley is divided into two branches, the east branch starts from Mozambique in the south, runs through the whole territory of Kenya in the north, and extends to the Jordan River in West Asia. The total length is more than 8,700 kilometers (9,600 kilometers), of which there is a very significant geomorphological feature in Kenya. There are three auspicious numbers in Kenya: an average of 800 kilometers long, 80 kilometers wide and 800 meters deep. Kenya is a great place to see the Great Rift Valley. In Kenya, the outline of the rift valley is very clear. It runs through the north and south, splitting the country in half, just crossing the equator across the country. Therefore, Kenya has won a very interesting title: "East African Cross" . On both sides of the rift valley, there are broken cliffs and undulating mountains, like two towering walls. Nairobi, the capital, is located above the eastern "wall" at the southern end of the rift valley.Limuru Town. · 34.9km from Nairobi

Nairobi National Park feels wild and strangely cinematic at the same time, with animals moving across open grassland while the city skyline sits in the distance. It is not the biggest or most dramatic safari in Kenya, but it is one of the most memorable because the contrast is so unusual. If you go early and keep expectations realistic, it is a rewarding half day trip with strong chances of seeing rhinos, giraffes, and other wildlife close to Nairobi.

The Arboretum is a huge green space that looks and feels like a dense forest with occasional clearings here and there. It was founded in 1907 by Mr Batiscombe and is now overseen by the Kenyan Forestry Department. There are many paths through the Arboretum, almost all of which are little more than dirt tracks. If you walk straight along the wide path leading to the main gate, you'll pass some of the most frequented spots in the area - here we saw people picnicking under the trees, sitting alone, reading or listening to music

Kenya's Great Rift Valley, on the way to Masai Mara, I didn't feel particularly shocked, maybe it's too big! But putting myself in their shoes, I was still very excited. Maybe you need to take a plane and look far away to see a more intuitive panoramic view!
