San Cristóbal Hill is 880 m above sea level, approx. 300 m higher than the city center, and is one of the city's vantage points with expansive views. The hill is a core part of Santiago Metropolitan Park, which covers approx. 700 hectares and is a representative large urban park in Chile. The Statue of the Immaculate Conception stands at the summit. Completed in April 1908 and manufactured by the French Val D'Osne foundry, the statue is 14 m tall and weighs approx. 36 tons, with a small chapel located inside its pedestal. The statue is illuminated at night and can be seen from all over the city. Plaza de Armas de Santiago is the historic heart of Santiago, the capital of Chile, and has served as the city's central square since its founding by Pedro de Valdivia in 1541. The square features a grid layout planned by architect Pedro de Gamboa and is surrounded by several important buildings constructed during the colonial period and the 19th century. On the west side of the square stands the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago, a neoclassical cathedral with exquisite interior decorations. To the north, from west to east, are theCorreosChile Plaza de Armas, the National History Museum (formerly the Royal Court building), and the Santiago City Hall, all of which feature harmonious facades. The Fernández Concha commercial arcade on the south side was built in 1869 and still houses various shops and small restaurants today. In the center of the square is a Carrara marble sculpture titled "Liberty of America," created by Italian sculptor Francesco Orselino, which symbolizes freedom breaking its chains. There are also other commemorative facilities, such as the bronze equestrian statue of Valdivia and a ground marker indicating the city's zero-kilometer point.Santiago · 67.3km from Los Andes

Santa Lucía Hill is a conical hill in the center of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It is the remnant of a volcano from millions of years ago and was known in the original local language as "Huelén," meaning "pain and sorrow." This hill is considered the birthplace of Santiago—it was here that Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia announced the founding of the city in 1541. In the 1870s, then-mayor of Santiago, Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, led the transformation of this rocky hill into an urban garden, introducing fountains, sculptures, staircases, and drought-resistant vegetation. At the entrance at the foot of the hill stands an ornately decorated porch, with large murals on both sides. Winding up the curved stone steps, you will pass a small chapel built in the 1870s and various cacti. The hill is also dotted with sights such as the Neptune Fountain and Hidalgo Castle. The summit features an observation deck, offering a view of the Santiago city area and the distant Andes.Santiago · 67.6km from Los Andes

La Moneda Palace

La Moneda Palace is the seat of the Chilean presidency and is located in the heart of Santiago. This neoclassical building was designed by Italian architect Joaquín Toesca and was originally the Royal Mint during the Spanish colonial period, with "Moneda" meaning "currency" in Spanish. The minting function continued for over a century, after which the building gradually transitioned into the seat of government and the presidential office. The building features a white stone facade, and its expansive, horizontal rectangular silhouette conveys a sense of solemnity and stability. The interior of the palace contains about 40 rooms distributed around several inner courtyards. Notable rooms include the Independence Hall with its iconic balcony, the Presidential Gallery displaying busts and portraits of past presidents, and the Blue Room used for receiving foreign heads of state. The square on the north side of the palace is the place to watch the changing of the guard ceremony. This traditional ceremony takes place every other day. The Chilean national police force enters the square in dress uniforms and on horseback, while a military band plays military music and folk songs. The ceremony lasts about half an hour and attracts many tourists and local residents who stop to watch. During the 1973 military coup, the palace was severely damaged by bombing. It was later reopened after extensive restoration, and some bullet marks are still clearly visible today, serving as a silent witness to this period of history.Santiago · 67.9km from Los Andes

Sotomayor Square is located in the heart of the old port area of Valparaiso, nestled between the mountains and the sea, and is considered the city's representative civic square. It is surrounded by historic buildings: facing the sea is the French Neoclassical-style Chilean Navy Headquarters building, and nearby is the old barracks of the Valparaiso Volunteer Fire Department. Today, it serves as both a public space for local residents' daily activities and an important starting point for tourists to explore the historic district of Valparaiso. It has convenient transportation, and the port, waterfront promenade, and the city's historic streets are all within walking distance.Valparaiso · 98.9km from Los Andes

The building features an exquisitely decorated facade and a solemn overall structure, with a dome and tall windows that make it stand out among the surrounding historic buildings. Visitors can walk in to buy stamps and send a postcard at the counter. The first floor also houses the Postal and Telegraph Museum, displaying Chilean stamps from various periods, along with various vintage mailboxes and telegraph equipment. Together with the nearby Santiago City Hall and the National History Museum, it forms an important historic architectural landscape in the city center, witnessing the city's development and changes from the colonial period to the modern era.Santiago · 67.3km from Los Andes

Cerro Concepcion is an old hillside neighborhood facing the sea in the port city of Valparaiso, Chile. Many immigrants from the United Kingdom and Germany settled here in the 19th century, leaving behind clusters of brightly colored European-style wooden houses, cobblestone alleys, and churches. Today, together with the adjacent Cerro Alegre, it forms a walking area in the city that is rich in murals and street art. Rather than just checking in, it is better suited for a leisurely stroll: the walls and steps on both sides of the alleys are almost completely covered in graffiti, and cafes, galleries, and small shops are hidden around the corners, making the entire hill feel like an open-air, colorful art gallery.Valparaiso · 98.9km from Los Andes

Barrio Bellavista is a well-known local bohemian neighborhood and nightlife hub. After dark, the lights of the bars, restaurants, and dance halls along the main street, Pío Nono, gradually light up. Locals and tourists flood the streets, sipping Chilean wine or swaying to the rhythm of live bands, and the lively atmosphere continues late into the night. During the day, it takes on a different look: colonial-era old houses and colorful buildings stand side by side, with walls covered in diverse graffiti that spreads from the street entrance to the depths of the alleys. It is famous for its distinct artistic atmosphere, rich nightlife, and diverse architectural styles, and is an important part of Santiago's urban culture.Recoleta · 66.6km from Los Andes

Standing among the colonial buildings of the Plaza de Armas, dyed honey by the setting sun, I vaguely heard the echoes of history. The chiming of the church's bronze bells startled a flock of pigeons as I stroked the polished stone carvings framing the central fountain—said to have been a resting place for countless travelers over three centuries. An elderly Indian in a striped poncho sat on a bench weaving colorful ropes. At his feet, a small mound of colored salt formed in an aluminum box, while a young man wearing headphones skated by him. The changing of the guards at the presidential palace, their heels tapping out a rhythmic beat, couldn't drown out the melody of "The Dove" played by an accordionist in the corner. I pulled a coin with Bolivar's face from my pocket and suddenly felt that this square resembled it: engraved with the solemnity of the colonial era on one side, and the heat of everyday life on the other.

The best view of the Andes Mountains. I climbed up instead of taking the cable car. The distance is not far, but the ground seems to be under repair. I fell and it was not worth it. In addition to enjoying the scenery on the top of the mountain, remember to try the local classic cold drink mote. It looks like a cold drink with pudding and beans, and it tastes good. It is said that the local Chileans will also have a cup at the top of the mountain. I took the cable car down the mountain. It was 3400, about 4 US dollars, which is not expensive. It is still a must-see attraction.

I think this is the most beautiful square I have seen in this country. It has very beautiful buildings, statues, and lawns. It feels very majestic. If you come here at night, there will be some lighting effects, which are quite beautiful.

This is the most attractive place for tourists in Valparaiso. There are all kinds of graffiti on the walls of the houses. Although they are just graffiti, you can see that these pictures are ingeniously conceived and beautifully painted. They are really pieces of art.

One of the characteristics of Valparaiso is its colorful graffiti on the walls, which is full of artistic feeling. It is also for this reason that it attracts many tourists to take pictures and check in. It is undeniable that these graffiti have also become a beautiful landscape.
