Things to do in K'gari

Cooloola Great Sandy National Park is a coastal national park in the Fraser Coast region of Queensland, Australia. The park features beaches, large sand dunes, heathland, rainforests, swamps, creeks, freshwater lakes and mangroves.

We visited on a one-day tour, but didn't have enough time to play in the water. We recommend a multi-day tour. The water is very clean and fresh. You can swim about 100 meters. The water level is knee-deep, so it is very suitable for parents and children. Be sure to come down and tread water!

No tickets are needed; simply scan the QR code to enter the park, which is significantly cheaper than buying tickets on the official website. Most rides have no queues, making for an extremely enjoyable experience. Even the most popular roller coasters only have queues of about 20 minutes. Transportation is convenient; take the Surfers Paradise light rail to the northernmost station and then transfer to a bus; the entire journey takes only one hour.

Surrounded by lush greenery, the park is home to hundreds of koalas lazily lounging in eucalyptus trees, a truly adorable sight. The open lawns offer opportunities to feed gentle kangaroos up close and learn about other Australian native animals such as platypuses and wombats. The performances are well-organized and informative, combining educational content with conservation efforts. The clean and comfortable environment makes for a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely stroll and an immersive experience of Australian wildlife.
