The Mandela Memorial Sculpture was designed by artist Marco Cianfanelli to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Mandela's imprisonment for defying racism. The entire statue does not use common marble materials and realistic techniques, but uses 50 10-meter-long steel columns to form Mandela's head. The choice of erected steel columns as the medium and form is to refer to the image of imprisonment. As people walk through the sculpture's steel column structure, which resembles a beam of ten million rays, symbolizing the strength of solidarity and a just political struggle, the sculpture also expresses a satire on the apartheid government's attempts to prevent the struggle. You can't drive directly here, you can only park on the side of the road and walk to the sculpture.Howick · 6.2km from downtown

is a very well maintained garden with a wide variety of plants. I visited it last summer when the lush green grass was in full bloom with beautiful colorful flowers. The view of the mountains behind the lush greenery was breathtaking. This is a must visit for all those who live in Cape Town.
