Standing on the top of Basiliq Mountain by the Swan Lake and overlooking, the ancient Kaidu River is slowly walking towards you from the sky. This is the nine-sentence and eighteen-bend of "this scene should only exist in the sky, and it can appear several times in the human world". It is like a fairy's streamer made of spring water and snow water passing through Swan Lake, more like the holy Hada that God has put on for the emerald kingdom of Bayinbulak. When the setting sun shoots Wandao Xiaguang into the grassland from the gaps in the clouds, the setting sun shakes the golden, and the nine bends and eighteen bends that meander like a python reflect the nine suns shot down by Houyi.Hejing · >100km from downtown

Bayinbulak Swan Lake is located in Bayinbulak Grassland Scenic Spot. It is one of the two famous landscapes in Bayinbulak grassland (the other is nine bends and eighteen bends). Also because of the popularity of Swan Lake, in recent years, Bayinbulak grassland has become famous. The scenic spot is also called Swan Lake Scenic Area. Bayinbulak Swan Lake is a quiet lake in the middle of the green grassland. From June to September every year, many whooper swans come here to breed and rest, and the scene is quiet and peaceful. Many photographers come here to take beautiful pictures. June-September is also a good season for shooting whooper swans. At this time, the grass is yellow and the horses are fat, the water is quiet, and the scenery is very intoxicating during the swan game. To play Swan Lake, you must first enter the Bayinbulak Grassland Scenic Spot, and take the sightseeing car in the scenic spot. The sightseeing car will stop at three stops on the road. Tourists can take follow-up vehicles after playing, so they can take pictures here. In addition to Swan Lake, the other two stops are the Barun Kure Temple and the Basilik Observation Deck. Among them, the Basilik Observation Deck is the shooting location of "Nine Curves and Eighteen Bends", so you can have a good time.Hejing · >100km from downtown

Located in the old Baluntai Valley, Baluntai Town, Hejing County, with an altitude of 1450 meters, it is a magnificent Lama monastery. Known as the "Little Potala Palace", the religious legal name is "Sharb Darjelen", which means "Holy Land of the Yellow Sect". It was built in the reign of Qianlong and completed in the 14th year of Guangxu. The skilled craftsmen who built the temple were invited from Inner Mongolia and Tibet, and spent a total of 500 taels of gold. Since its establishment more than a hundred years ago, it has always been a pilgrimage site for Turghut and Heshuot Lamaists, and it is also one of the four major temples of Lamaism in Xinjiang. The Huangmiao complex consists of 27 temples, stretching 2.5 kilometers from east to west. The Yellow Temple is the main building. The entire building has a rigorous structure and is proud of itself. Together with 14 temples such as Quejinkure, it forms an imposing ancient building complex of Lama temples. It covers an area of 24,000 square meters. Halls such as Re, Gaiganlawulong, etc. are still intact, and were listed as key cultural relics protection units in 1987. There are many precious scriptures and rare cultural relics in the hall of the Yellow Temple. In the center of the hall is a huge golden statue of Meder. Many bronze Buddha statues such as Maitreya Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva are enshrined in the east and west rear halls. The four walls of the main hall are decorated with statues of the gods, which are lifelike, vivid and exquisite. There are also thirteen religious murals painted in the temple. Although they have been eroded, their authentic works are still vaguely visible. There is an endless stream of pilgrims who come to Yujing pilgrimage every day, the incense is extremely prosperous, and every religious festival is even more lively. Baruntaigou is not only a religious holy place, but also a natural forest park. In the green valley with a length of more than 20 kilometers from east to west, there are lush willow trees, strange peaks and rocks standing in the sky, and the mountains, springs and clouds are vast. The average temperature in midsummer is around 20 degrees, with warm winters and cool summers. The simple and kind-hearted folk customs of the Mongolian people in Turghut will make you fascinated even more.Hejing · 38.8km from downtown

Tianshan Tianchi, also known as Tianchi National Geological Park and called "Yaochi" in ancient times, is located in Fukang, Changji Prefecture, on the northern side of Bogda Peak. It is approx. 110 km from Ürümqi and is a famous tourist destination in Xinjiang. In ancient Chinese mythology, Tianchi was also the bathing place of the Queen Mother of the West. Tianchi Lake sits at an altitude of 1910 m, with a maximum depth of 105 m. The lake reflects the Bogda Peak, surrounded by spruce trees, creating a fairy-tale-like scenery. The attraction encompasses natural views such as alpine lakes, wetland meadows, and forested canyons. In 2013, it was designated as a national geological park. When visiting Tianchi, don't just explore the lakeshore—you'll miss many surprising sub-attractions. Recommended hiking routes, lakeside pier - Haixi beach, lakeside pier - East small heavenly pool (Flying dragon pool) The Tianchi attraction features three water bodies: the main lake plus two others on its eastern and western sides. The eastern one is "East Xiaotianchi," also called Heilong Pool, located 500 m east of Tianchi. Below the pool lies a sheer cliff where a waterfall plunges down like a rainbow, giving the site its name "Hanging spring and jade rainbow." On the west side lies "West Xiaotianchi," also known as Jade Maiden Pool, located approx. 2 km northwest of Tianchi Lake. The pool, shaped like a full moon and encircled by towering pines, earned its poetic name "Dragon Pool under the jade moon" from the serene moonlit reflections on its surface. A waterfall cascades beside the pool, plunging dozens of meters like a silver river descending from heaven, dubbed the "Jade belt with silver curtain." Above the pool stands the Sound of Waves Pavilion, offering a unique vantage point to admire the waterfall. All attractions within the scenic area are connected by boardwalks, accessible on foot. On the eastern shore of Tianchi Lake stands the Temple of the Queen Mother of the West, originally built during the Yuan Dynasty. The current structure was reconstructed in 1999 on the original temple site, dedicated to the worship of the Queen Mother of the West, hence also known as the "Queen Mother Temple". It can be reached by hiking along the lakeside boardwalk (approx. 2 hrs) or by taking a cruise. The temple offers excellent views of Tianchi Lake. Maya Mountain requires taking a shuttle bus + cable car. The towering cliffs and numerous stone peaks present a breathtaking sight; from afar, they resemble a row of horse teeth, while looking up, they appear as if jagged rocks are competing in grandeur and stacked cliffs are vying in beauty, creating a mesmerizing view. This view of Maya Mountain is formed by rock weathering. The summit of Maya Mountain is relatively flat, featuring lush grasslands covered with butter grass in summer and dotted with colorful flowers. Standing here, you can take in the panoramic view of Heaven Lake to the north, while the Bogda Peak to the east and the snow-capped mountains to the south seem within reach. To the west, the farmlands on the outskirts of Urumqi are also clearly visible.China · Fukang

Nalati Scenic Area

Nalati Scenic Area is located in the heart of the Tianshan Mountains and the eastern end of the Ili River Valley, a subalpine meadow grassland formed on ancient alluvial deposits. Legend has it that when the westward-expanding Mongol army crossed mountains to reach this place, they suddenly saw a sunlit plain carpeted with flowers. The soldiers exclaimed "Nalati," which means "the place with sunlight" in Mongolian, giving the area its enduring name. The attraction integrates snow-capped mountains, forests, valleys, meadows, and rivers, primarily divided into several sections: the River Valley Grassland, Sky Grassland, Panlong Valley Trail, and Wolta Jiaota. Along the River Valley Grassland by the Gongnaisi River, visitors can find Tawusani (meaning "beautiful mountain valley" in Kazakh), ancient tombs from the Wusun people of the Han dynasties, and the Grassland Tribe recreating Wusun tribal life. Following the uphill ride on the mountain road leads to the Sky Grassland, a high-altitude meadow suspended among peaks. The Tianjie Terrace at the boundary between the valley and grassland offers expansive views, while Snow Lotus Valley at the trail's end is often shrouded in mist, with snow lotuses blooming in midsummer. The Panlong Valley Trail is a forest loop without backtracking, flanked by towering Tianshan spruces. The Wolta Jiaota section is ideal for hiking, with the Tianxian Terrace providing stunning views of sunrise above sea of clouds. From June to September each year, the grassland enters its golden season, with lush green pastures and blooming wildflowers everywhere. Kazakh herders drive herds of cattle, sheep, and horses into summer pastures, where scattered yurts and curling smoke create a picturesque scene. Visiting the attraction during this time allows you to ride horses, try archery, and dress in traditional ethnic costumes. You might also encounter traditional equestrian activities like horse racing, kokpar (goat grabbing), and kyz kuu (girl chasing), experiencing the authentic Kazakh nomadic culture between snow-capped mountains and meadows.China · Xinyuan

Bayinbuluke is definitely worth a visit. Besides swans, we also saw Siberian red-billed gulls at the Swan Sanctuary, and the interaction between the lambs and swans was particularly interesting. It's really cold up there, so be sure to dress warmly! The scenic area is much larger than I expected. From the entrance to the main attractions, even with no stops and a speed limit of 60 km/h, it takes about an hour, so be sure to allow plenty of time. The weather was exceptionally good the second time, and I wanted to go back in to watch the sunset. However, when I arrived at the scenic area at 6:30 PM, the staff said the sightseeing bus had already stopped running, so I unfortunately missed it. 🥲 If you want to see the sunset, be sure to check the last sightseeing bus time in advance. Also, if you're driving, after watching the sunset, drive slowly and carefully as it gets dark.

A scenic spot located in the Bayinbuluke Scenic Area, with a winding river, it is a paradise for photography enthusiasts. Watching the sunset and sunrise here are both very popular spots. Because of the refraction of the river, you can take a magnificent photo of nine suns here, but even if you take a casual photo, it is quite unique. It should be reminded that there are a lot of mosquitoes in mid-July, and it is almost difficult to endure long-term viewing. If you must go, you must prepare the corresponding equipment.

The famous "Swan Lake" in Bayinbuluke is the only swan nature reserve in China. It is an alpine wetland lake with an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters. The continuous snow-capped mountains and icy peaks around it form a natural barrier for the Swan Lake.

Huangmiao Yong'an Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist Lama temple located at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains in Baluntai Town, north of Hejing County, about an hour's drive from the county seat. The Baluntai River flows behind the temple. The environment is serene, with mountains and water, lush greenery, and a humid climate with cool summers. It was built during the Guangxu era by the 12th prince of the Torgut tribe who returned east. It served as a place of worship and gathering for Mongolian herders in the Yanqi Basin during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period. After visiting Bosten Lake during the National Day holiday, I took the Haowushun Road to visit the temple. After exiting the Urumqi-Wuwei Expressway, I took National Highway 218 to Baluntai Town, and then drove a little further in. The road was paved and in good condition, although there were many winding mountain roads. The parking lot in front of the temple is large, and a cluster of yellow buildings comes into view. I visited the museum, the lecture hall, and the prince's summer palace. In the courtyard, there is a grafted Bodhi tree brought back from India, with a very large canopy. There were quite a few people celebrating National Day, but it wasn't noisy; the atmosphere was quite nice.

There are very few people in the Panchen Valley scenic area, so you don't have to squeeze with the crowds and can enjoy super VIP treatment. The service staff are beautiful and enthusiastic. The sea of flowers has not yet fully bloomed, but it is already very beautiful. It is said that it will be even more beautiful in early July.

Kaidu River is also a very famous river. The direction of the entire river is exactly opposite to what we usually see in the eastern region. It flows from east to west. It is really a journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures. Were you inspired by this at that time?

Tianchi Lake in the Tianshan Mountains truly lives up to its legendary reputation as a fairyland on earth! However, getting to the scenic area is highly dependent on the weather. The shuttle bus takes you up the mountain, and upon arriving at the lakeside, you're instantly awestruck. The crystal-clear lake rests serenely amidst the mountains, with the majestic Bogda Peak standing tall in the distance, surrounded by a vast forest of spruce trees. The snow-capped mountains, the lake, and the blue sky frame each other—a breathtaking panorama that needs no filter. Strolling along the lakeside boardwalk, the air is fresh and invigorating. You can also take a boat trip on the lake for a closer look at the scenery. The scenic area is clearly marked and well-equipped, combining natural beauty with the mythical significance of the Queen Mother of the West. The mountain breeze soothes all travel fatigue, making it a must-visit destination when in Xinjiang.

Narat Grassland is quite beautiful, especially the aerial grassland, which is stunning. You can drive there; just buy a self-driving ticket. There are also shuttle buses. The area is quite large. Panlong Valley Road, however, was just average, not as beautiful as I expected. The river valley grassland was teeming with cattle and sheep, but since it was nearing autumn, the grass wasn't as green anymore. I happened to be there during a grassland music festival. There were no celebrities, and the audience wasn't large, but the park was very well organized. There were large, clean temporary restrooms, and plenty of police, so everything was orderly. The only downside was that the parking lot was a bit far from the concert venue, as the venue was quite large. Because it's relatively remote, there weren't that many tourists there.

There were so many people visiting during the National Day holiday. 90% of the grapes had already been harvested; the remaining 10% were quite unique. However, the sightseeing bus service was extremely chaotic, with pedestrians everywhere and no order whatsoever.
