Yaoli Ancient Town is indeed beautiful, with its white walls and black tiles, and streams winding through the village. Walking on the bluestone paths evokes the charm of a traditional Jiangnan water town, making it a worthwhile destination. However, the dining experience this time was truly disappointing. The price of the farm-style dishes is understandable, given it's a tourist area, but the key issue is that the taste was simply not worth the price: the dishes lacked the characteristic wok hei (wok aroma), the seasoning was either bland or overly heavy, and the ingredients didn't taste fresh—it felt like mass-produced "tourist farm-style food." I had hoped to enjoy a proper local meal, but the scenery kept me entertained the entire time. My advice is to check reviews before visiting Yaoli, and don't be lured in by enthusiastic doormen, or you might end up with a disappointing experience.
