The midweek trip to the Danube Delta was a great experience, one that justifies our 10-day visit to Romania on its own. The water tour started slowly, but as we delved deeper into the Delta, the variety of wildlife, especially birds, increased significantly. Many lived in colonies, some intermingling with others, and some not. We saw turtles and water snakes. We ate on an island with the lunch served by a family for whom the Delta is home. Alin, our host, provided us with a wealth of information. We highly recommend the experience.

A Danube cruise with beautiful highlights immersed in nature. It's a shame the ferry was very old and poorly equipped, and the "audio guide" was a single radio in the middle of the ferry that only explained in Romanian. It's a shame, because the area is already sparsely populated by international tourists, and without English options, it's unlikely to attract more non-Romanian tourists. I'd like to thank at least a few passengers who translated and explained what we didn't understand. There was a bar on board, but it was small and poorly stocked. Last but not least, the departure time wasn't clear on the app: it said 8am-8pm without specifying. I had to go and find out on-site what time the excursion was. In short, I recommend the tour for the beauty of the place, but there are certain things you need to know before taking these excursions.
