Reviews: Key West Dolphin Watch and Snorkel Tour - Eco Adventure

We booked a snorkeling excursion with FURY, one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s shore excursions and the 2025 Travels Choice Award winner for Outstanding Water Adventures in the Keys. FURY has been a staple here for more than three decades, and it shows.
Quick tip: You can book this excursion directly through the FURY website and save some money. However, booking through the cruise line guarantees you won’t be left behind if there’s a delay returning to port. With such limited time in Key West, the extra cost was worth it for peace of mind.
Within minutes, we’re off—along with a boatload of fellow NCL passengers—aboard one of FURY’s catamarans. This is a very popular excursion. Everything you need is provided: snorkeling gear, vests, flotation noodles, and even wetsuits available for rent. FURY also has equipment for all shapes and sizes… including kids!
During the 30-minute ride out to the reef, I chat with Captain Willie about the adventure ahead. Soon enough, it’s time to enter the water. Captain Willie gives us a heads-up—the water is a bit rough and cool, around 70 degrees. But we suck it up and take the plunge!
We’re snorkeling over a portion of North America’s largest living reef. Visibility is pretty good, and the scenery is stunning—sea fans sway harmonically with the current, coral heads rise from the ocean floor, and marine life surrounds us.
As Captain Willie explained, this is the Rock Key Sanctuary, just east of Sand Key. There’s a strictly enforced no-touch, no-take policy, helping preserve this fragile ecosystem. We’re swimming in 10 to 25 feet of water, making it perfect for all skill levels.
Denise points out a yellowtail snapper swimming below us, while another species nibbles at the living coral rock. Even with nearly 100 swimmers on the reef, it somehow feels like we’re all alone—completely immersed in this tropical wonderland. The swaying sea fans are hypnotic.
We give this adventure a big thumbs up as we head back to the Pacific Fury, where Captain Willie gets the party started for the ride back.
It’s been 20 years since we last explored the Florida Keys coral reef, and honestly, it rivals what we’ve experienced in Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
If you’re visiting Key West, this is an absolute must-see experience★

We booked tour for 11 AM however we need to change it and they were very accommodating.
We met our guide Chris at the first restaurant. It was knowledgeable and great guide.
The tour has five restaurants and between them you walk around and Chris explained different about Key West history. The first restaurant, El Siboney is a Cuban restaurant where we had a very flavorful pork dish with rice and beans. From there, we walked through different sections of the island to our next stop, the speak is inn and rum bar. So many varieties of rum, and despite the rum refresher that we got was very good. I had to try some of the rums. From there, we continued about 20 minutes walk to mangoes where they specialize in Conch (KO-NK) the place is very nice, but it was not my favorite dish. Very close to it we went to Kaya Island eats where we tasted an amazing mahi fish. We concluded a tour at the Cuban coffee Queen, where we had very good coffee and really good Keylime pie.
As a foodie, I highly recommend this tour not only for the food but for the history of Key West★

This tour was the highlight of our holiday. The lemon shark encounter was incredible – there were so many of them! The crew was fantastic and very knowledgeable. They put in a lot of extra effort to help us find a dolphin, which made the day even more special. If you’re looking for a safe and exciting adventure, this is the one to book!★

Karl was the BEST!!! My husband and I were visiting via Celebrity cruise line. We had a couple hours in Key West and decided to do a trolley hop on hop off tour. We thought it was a little pricey at first, but Karl made the tour so well worth it!!
He was fabulous 👌 it was like we had a historian, a comedian and an impersonator in one! We had such a great time that we are planning on coming to the keys and spending more time here.

Reviews: Key West Ghosts and Gravestones Trolley Tour

Me and a friend just went on the Ghost and Gravestones tour on Key West hosted by Salty and driver Mario and the two were awesome!! We enjoyed it from beginning to end. Salty kept everyone very engaged throughout the tour and made it one of the most memorable notable tours I have had not only in Key West but across the years in all of the different cities and venues. His character Salty was awesome- his voice, mannerisms and costume were perfect, he started with a list of different spirits to be on the watch for which was fun and creepy, his delivery of the several spooky stories was outstanding, as was his storytelling of the more solemn history behind the African cemetery! That was so very touching and you could see that the delivery of the story was very heartfelt!! We also thoroughly enjoyed the off bus experience at the Shipwreck Museum it added another dimension of fun! to the tour!! The large photos displayed during the stories were great and added very much to the stories! This is a must see tour and definitely if you can ask for Salty and Mario (driver)!!
