Reviews: Nagoya to Shirakawa-go & Hida Takayama: UNESCO Heritage 1-Day Tour

The overall itinerary was somewhat rushed due to Japanese driver service time regulations. The Takayama leg of the trip was particularly tight, mainly because completing a meal and a full visit to the Takayama Jinya (traditional Japanese houses) within two hours was quite strenuous. Two hours was more than enough for the Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri village. The tour guide was very professional and nice, and his explanations were quite interesting. The group members came from all over the world, with mainland Chinese tourists making up about 10%, making it a very international team.

Shirakawa-go is such a beautiful village. I highly recommend visiting. Even if you go on your own, the cost and distance are considerable, and the return trip is early, so it's better to take a tour. This is my second time on a tour in Japan, and I wish they had provided tourist tips in advance (I felt it was significantly lacking compared to Taiwanese tours). >>> I paid an entrance fee for the houses that were open to the public, so there was no need to wait to go inside. Due to traffic issues, I went to Shirakawa-go first, which was on my itinerary, but the 12 o'clock shuttle didn't run, so I walked up to the observatory (I had to go there anyway). Thank you, guide Lee.
