A wonderful excursion. Elsie, our guide, provided us with a wealth of information. We were two French women with a group of about twenty very welcoming Chinese tourists. The first part of the hike was with Elsie, who took care of all the logistics. For the second part, Mount Qingcheng, we hiked on our own, following the park's signs. Elsie had shown us the way, taking us past the lake. The ascent is a steady climb, and it's important not to slow down too much to stay on schedule and return to the meeting point for the return trip. My only reservation concerns the meal, which was served at round tables that weren't very clean. The restaurant was hosting many other groups. Well done, Elsie, and thank you for this wonderful day trip!★

The organization was impeccable, with a perfectly paced itinerary that comfortably covered all advertised sites at both Qingcheng Mountain (青城山) and the Dujiangyan (都江堰), beginning with a perfectly timely hotel pickup. The guide system was particularly effective; we had a dedicated English-speaking guide whose passion and deep knowledge brought the history of the region to life. She didn't just show us ancient sites - she connected the ingenious principles of the 2,000-year-old irrigation system directly to its vital role in Sichuan today, which was fascinating. A crucial piece of advice: ensure you have WeChat installed. Our guide used a chat to align the hotel pickup and share route details. An absolutely first-class, educational, and enjoyable day.★

In the morning, we were picked up by a car and taken to the same departure point. The itinerary was well-organized, but seeing the pandas in Panda Valley sometimes required some luck 😇, as some would hide and sleep. We had lunch and then headed to Dujiangyan in the afternoon. We were taken up the mountain by car and then walked down, which was more physically demanding than a hike. We then had a few hours of free time in the afternoon to explore, eat, and explore. In the evening, we went to see the Blue Tears before being transferred back to Chengdu. There were explanations and directions throughout the trip, and the itinerary was quite tight, making good use of our time.★

I had a private tour with my tour guide Amber. I was picked up right on time and she gave me a lot of back ground information on the hour drive to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Amber knew all about the engineering behind this 2000 year old marvel and really made me appreciate the brilliant design. We were then off to Mount Qingcheng for a two hour walk up stairs to Shangqing palace. Make sure you have comfortable shoes and are ready for a lot of stairs (my Apple watch recorded 42 flights worth!). Amanda even helped me find my Taoist protector. Great trip, highly recommend!
