The wisest decision on this trip to Beijing was hiring a car to the Great Wall! It was unexpectedly good.
The Buick minivan was spacious and comfortable, and driver Wang Tianle was a skilled and helpful driver who even proactively introduced the Great Wall scenic area.
On the return trip, we added Peking University and Tsinghua University to our itinerary, and Mr. Wang took us there as well.
We departed at 7:00 AM, and I highly recommend that anyone going to the Great Wall arrive early!â

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy and well-organized way to reach the Mutianyu Great Wall from Beijing. I chose the tour that leaves at 8:00 AM, and it's an hour and a half by bus to the wall. During the trip, our excellent guide (I think her name was Erika!) gave us lots of useful information and provided all the necessary tickets to visit the wall on our own (you have about 5 hours of free time). On the way back, the very friendly Mike accompanied us. I highly recommend this tour! Thanks for the wonderful experience đâ

Absolutely brilliant. The tour guide is very friendly, very informative, moves fast and efficiently. Recommended but you really have to move fast because when i went there itâs summer vacation so itâs super crowded that is why the tour guide told us to move fast.â

Everything went perfectly. Gubei is beautiful, I recommend it to everyone. The tour was well-organized. The guide sent all the information via WhatsApp the day before, and if we had any questions, he called us on WhatsApp and explained everything. We were picked up at the appointed time. Volodya explained the tour route clearly (some of us had to explain it more than once). Our package included transfers from and to Beijing, entrance tickets to Gubei, the wall, the roundtrip cable car ride, and lunch. We also bought boat tickets on the bus. First, we took the boat to a restaurant, then went to the wall after lunch, and then walked around the city. The organized tour only goes as far as the restaurant, then you're on your own, which is great because you don't have to wait for anyone or rely on anyone else. There's plenty of time to climb the wall and walk around the city.â

Our tour was led by our guide, Svetlana. She speaks Russian fluently, explained everything, and was always available. The city is one big photo op! It's incredibly beautiful, everything is in the same style: the houses, the streets, the recreation areas. There are plenty of cafes and souvenir shops. It gets very crowded in the evening. It's best to arrive in the morning. We had a very convenient and quick ride up to the Great Wall of China thanks to the cable car. Everything went wonderfully.îĽ
