I can’t believe it actually took me 17 visits to Vilnius before I finally decided to not be lazy and check out the cathedral bell tower in the middle of Vilnius. For the past two decades this tower was where I’d meet my dates because of its prime central location. I was in for a surprise. The 6 euro entry fee is negligible and definitely worth the fee once you climb up to the summit for spectacular views of all four cardinal points of the city proper. The bell ringing every 15 minutes is not necessarily as bad as it sounds as I found it tolerable even as I was mere metres from the bells. I took note of its long historical past and wondered to myself about how if the walls could talk they would tell me about the Teutonic Knights, the Russian Empire followed by the ******and then eventually Soviet rule. The bells now toll for a young and free Lithuanian Republic that is full of trendy hipsters. You may not recognize the tower from the outside but it definitely rings a bell.

SPECTACULAR tour!!! The guide Milda was fantastic! Highly recommended, especially because only with this tour can you discover hidden gems that you wouldn't see on your own.

Our driver/guide Cyrus did a great job customizing our experience for my 84 year-old mother’s limited mobility. His car was clean and comfortable. He shared his local knowledge and made excellent recommendations at each stop. The archaeological site at Kernave was so beautiful. We took a private boat tour for €20 at Trakai, also beautiful, and walked back to the mainland from the castle, which was a good option for us. Back in Vilnius, we walked around Cathedral Square and I climbed the Vilnius University bell tower. We got dropped off at the Museum of Occupation, closed on Mondays and were able to visit for an hour before they closed for the day on Sunday.

Really great tour for learning a lot of the Soviet history of Lithuania. Guide was so good, so knowledgeable with added personal anecdotes, and was very friendly, energetic, and easy to understand (sorry, forgot her name but it started with an I). Packed with so much good information, now I need to follow up and read up on some of this stuff.
