If you're longing to venture off beaten tourist tracks and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and culture of Lapland, a visit to our reindeer farm is the perfect experience for you! We warmly welcome you to meet our herd, learn about reindeer husbandry and discover village life in northern Finland.
We are located in a small place right at the heart of Finnish Lapland, 90km north of Rovaniemi. You can visit us en route from Rovaniemi to Levi, Ylläs, Sodankylä, Luosto or Saariselkä/Inari or while you are staying at a cottage in a nearby village. Please note that there is no bus connection/public transport to our reindeer farm.
Duration: Approximately two hours but there is no time pressure or hurry.
Group Size: This is a private experience only for you and your partner, family or group of friends.
Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed not only by us but also by our two Lapponian herder dogs. They love making new friends and are always up for cuddles. If you are uneasy around dogs, please let us know in advance so we can keep them at home for the day.
After a short introduction, we will set off towards the reindeer pasture. You will travel comfortably in a snowmobile-pulled sledge. At the first stop, you will have the opportunity to meet the reindeer up close and experience their gentle nature. Our most curious animals will eat lichen straight from your hand. This is a wonderful moment for taking selfies with the reindeer and observing their behaviour. Once the baskets of lichen are empty, we will continue distributing pellet feed. Watching the herd run after the sledge is truly mesmerising and offers an excellent chance either to practise nature photography or simply relax and enjoy the scene.
When the reindeer have been fed, we will enjoy hot berry juice together with homemade delicacies and freshly toasted s'mores beside the campfire in our kota tent. Please inform us in advance of any dietary preferences or restrictions. While sitting by the cosy fire, you will hear about both the history and the modern practices of reindeer husbandry. You will also have the chance to master the use of a reindeer herder's lasso. If you are up for more adventures, we can continue with a walk through the forest with our young soon-to-be sledge reindeer, who will happily follow you if you reward them with some lichen.
