We had a wonderful day trip! We booked a day in advance through the Trip.com mobile app, and although we weren't departing from Sapporo, thanks to excellent communication and understanding, we were able to join the group at Asahiyama Zoo on time. Our guide, Sophia, was incredibly attentive, communicating in Japanese, English, and Mandarin to ensure everyone understood the itinerary.
We had ample time to explore and take photos at each attraction. One pleasant surprise was the unexpected opportunity to see the Biei Christmas tree up close, something we had originally planned to only view from the bus. Thanks to Sophia and the driver's on-site assessment, the entire group was able to get off the bus for photos!
Speaking of the driver, he could also communicate with us in Japanese and Mandarin. Since our hotel was located in Asahikawa and we weren't returning to Sapporo by tour bus, the guide and driver even checked the public bus schedules after New Year's Day to understand any special changes and arrangements. Their meticulous and patient service made our experience even more enriching.
At Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls, Sophia's explanations gave us a deeper understanding of these beautiful places. Heartfelt thanks to Trip.com for the arrangements, and to Gogoday for the day trip that added such unforgettable moments to our Hokkaido trip! ๐๐โ

Our Chinese-speaking tour guide was from mainland China (Sister Bingbing). The meeting point was easy to find. The zoo was given a fair amount of time for a day trip, but it was just so much fun, and with lunch included, we felt the time was insufficient. The snowmobiles were really fun, and the snow at Shikisai-oka was perfect for snow activities. The guide also recommended the bakery next to the Fairy Terrace; the bread was absolutely delicious. Because the return trip to Sapporo took a while, we only had time for a short visit to the Fairy Terrace. Exploring all the shops on the terrace would take quite a bit of time. However, for just browsing and taking photos, the time was enough! It was my first time on a day trip, and I had a wonderful time. The beautiful snowy scenery along the way was truly breathtaking, especially for someone from my country who rarely sees snow!โ

The animals at Asahikawa Zoo were very close to humans, which was a good experience. The Forest Elf Terrace was beautiful, but our tour guide, Xiaoyu, provided very poor service. The parking lot for the Forest Elf Terrace was huge, and the cars were parked very far apart. After getting off the bus, she didn't wait for all the passengers behind to get off before leading the group out, causing us to search for the exit for over 10 minutes. The entire tour was only allotted half an hour, and it took her more than ten minutes just to get from the parking lot to the exit. When we returned, we couldn't find our car and called to say we were late. Her attitude was extremely rude; it felt like she was in a hurry to leave work, didn't want to be delayed, and didn't want to guide us. Her service level needs improvement. Before we got off the bus, she asked everyone to give her a five-star review, which made us feel uncomfortable.โ

The scenery was absolutely stunning after the snowfall, with beautiful views all along the way. The zoo was fantastic, especially the Emperor Penguins. There's a penguin walking show after December 12th, but you can already get quite close inside the zoo. All the animals can be observed up close. With only two hours, I recommend taking the middle path down, then exploring the predators on the right, and finally the polar animals on the left, following an S-shaped route. The Lonely Tree offers views from the vehicle, and the Whitebeard Waterfall and Green Pool are absolutely gorgeous. Walking along the path, with the glacier water and the surrounding scenery, felt like stepping into a fairyland. Finally, head to the terrace, which is itself a world-class ski resort. The terrace is filled with exquisite handicrafts, but it gets quite crowded, making it difficult to take photos. The itinerary is tight, so buy plenty of food for the car. If it's snowing, definitely wear crampons, as it's easy to slip and fall when walking from the parking lot to the terrace. Don't be late, as it will delay the entire trip and significantly impact your return journey, as road conditions are not ideal and traffic jams or closures are common.๎ฅ
