▲ Taiyuan Shanxi Merchants Museum (former site of Shanxi Military Governor's Office). Historical records indicate this site originally housed the Temple of Duke Wen of Jin (Chong'er). During the early Northern Song Dynasty, it served as Marshal Pan Mei's headquarters, later becoming a prefectural and provincial administrative center. In the Jin Dynasty, it was the seat of Hedong Circuit. During the Yuan Dynasty, it functioned as the provincial administrative office. Throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties, it served as Shanxi Provincial Governor's Office. After the 1911 Revolution, it became Shanxi Military Governor's Office, Shanxi Provincial Government, and Taiyuan Pacification Headquarters. Following Taiyuan's liberation on April 24, 1949, it housed the Taiyuan Military Control Commission. In September of the same year, after the establishment of Shanxi Provincial Committee and Provincial People's Government, it became their official workplace.

▲ Taiyuan Shanxi Merchants Museum is a humanistic history museum established on the site of the former Shanxi Military Governor's Office, integrating cultural relics, ancient architecture, garden landscapes, and exhibition displays. Its permanent exhibition "The Global Shanxi Merchants" begins with the important speeches and instructions made during the Party Secretary's inspection of Shanxi. It comprehensively showcases the historical panorama of Shanxi merchants during the Ming and Qing dynasties through five aspects: the profound foundation of their rise and development, their glorious history of dominating domestic trade, the commercial miracle of their financial networks spanning the world, the arduous achievements along the Ten-Thousand-Mile Tea Road, and their patriotic spirit of benefiting society and the nation. The exhibition strives to convey the depth of history, the richness of culture, the value of artifacts, the authenticity of historical materials, and the innovation in presentation.
