Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area

Danba

Depart from Chengdu and head west into the stunning highlands of Western Sichuan. Your first stop is the breathtaking Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area, known as the “Alps of the East.” This region features snow-covered peaks, including the famous Yaomei Peak (6,250 meters), alongside vast alpine meadows, crystal-clear rivers, and pristine valleys—an ideal destination for hiking and photography.

In the afternoon, travel along mountain roads to Danba, a captivating Tibetan village famous for its ancient stone watchtowers and well-preserved Jiarong Tibetan culture. The traditional homes are built into the lush hillsides, offering picturesque views and authentic cultural encounters.

Day 2: Danba – Moshi Stone Forest – Tagong Grassland – Yuzixi – Xinduqiao

Moshi Stone Forest

Moshi Stone Forest is a rare geological wonderland with dramatic black rock formations shaped by erosion and time. The dark, towering rock formations stand in stark contrast to the surrounding green hills, offering a striking visual experience.

Tagong Grassland

Next, drive to the expansive Tagong Grassland, one of the most scenic Tibetan plateaus in the region. Golden fields stretch beneath deep blue skies, dotted with grazing yaks and fluttering prayer flags. Visit Tagong Monastery, an important site of Tibetan Buddhism and spiritual heritage.

In the late afternoon, stop at Yuzixi, a remote mountain viewpoint ideal for watching the sunset and photographing the stars—an unspoiled location that stirs the soul.

Day 3: Xinduqiao – Honghaizi – Mugecuo – Chengdu

Mugecuo 

Mugecuo Scenic Area is renowned for Muge Lake, the largest alpine lake in Western Sichuan, with its crystal-clear waters mirroring the surrounding mountains and forests in a picturesque setting. The area also features Qisehai, a lake whose colors change with the light, making it highly photogenic. Begin your final day with a visit to Honghaizi, a scenic high-altitude lake surrounded by wild, rugged peaks.

Continue to Mugecuo Scenic Area (also known as the Kangding Love Song Resort), home to one of Western Sichuan's largest alpine lakes—Muge Lake. Enjoy forest trails, lakeside views, and, if time permits, relax in a natural hot spring, surrounded by mountain tranquility.
