The Baikal Museum is not located in Irkutsk or Olkhon Island, but in Listvyanka, a small town where you can witness the mesmerizing convergence of frozen lake surfaces and flowing waters!
.
The Baikal Museum is not large, but it boasts an excellent location with a view of the Angara River flowing out of Lake Baikal right outside its doors. The venue is exquisitely designed and features comprehensive collections, showcasing the formation process of Lake Baikal, its flora and fauna, and more. There are also fun activities like VR experiences and simulated diving.
.
Here you'll also find adorable little seals—the world's only freshwater seals—zooming through the water like torpedoes. They're incredibly lively and completely unafraid of humans!
