Guangzhou Private Guided Day Tour: Foshan Zumiao, Huang Feihong Memorial Hall, and Nanyue King Museum
At 9:00 AM, a private car will pick you up from your hotel in downtown Guangzhou to begin a cultural exploration journey through the twin cities of Guangzhou and Foshan.
After approximately an hour's drive, the first stop is Foshan Zumiao, hailed as the "Palace of Lingnan Architectural Art." This temple complex, dating back to the Northern Song Dynasty, showcases the pinnacle of Lingnan craftsmanship, including pottery sculptures, wood carvings, and brick carvings. You'll admire a 32-meter-long pottery sculpture narrative strip on the main hall's roof ridge, where exquisitely carved Shiwan figurines vividly recreate traditional opera scenes. Daily Cantonese opera performances and lion dance welcomes further immerse you in Foshan's unique charm as the "Ceramic Capital of Southern China."
Step into the Huang Feihong Memorial Hall located on the east side of Foshan Zumiao, where the green-brick building with wok-ear roof showcases the life story of this martial arts master. Through precious black-and-white photos, weapon artifacts, and historical records, you'll learn about Huang Feihong's dramatic journey from street performances to becoming a legendary figure in both medicine and martial arts. If you visit during performance hours, you can also witness authentic Foshan martial arts demonstrations.
For lunch, we recommend trying authentic Foshan cuisine (meals at your own expense), with local specialties like Blind Man's Cake and double-layer milk pudding. In the afternoon, visit the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln with its 500-year unbroken kiln fire. Stroll through the ancient kiln preservation area and witness the entire process of Shiwan pottery being made using traditional techniques by master artisans. You can also try your hand at pottery-making in the ceramic experience zone, feeling the magical sensation of clay taking shape between your fingers.
Finally, drive back to Guangzhou and visit the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. Built on the original site, this museum fully showcases the tomb of Zhao Mo, the second king of Nanyue. You will have a close-up view of treasures such as the jade burial suit and the "Seal of Emperor Wen" gold seal, interpreting an important chapter of Lingnan civilization through precious artifacts from 2,000 years ago.
The tour concludes around 17:00 with private transfer back to your hotel. This full-day itinerary features the most iconic cultural attractions in Guangzhou and Foshan, accompanied by professional guides and comfortable vehicles, allowing you to deeply experience the essence of Lingnan culture in a single day.
