There were only two of us, so we had a private tour. It was a great day with clear communication and information beforehand. Our guide, Pau, did a fantastic job.

Thank you very much, Joe, this trip to Dali was perfect! I also thank the driver Xiaoying, the service is really great! She drove very smoothly and felt very at ease all the way, and was very familiar with the road conditions.
Reviews: Cangshan, Three Pagoda, Xizhou, Erhai Lake, Dali Ancient City Tour for Foreign Tourists

The eight of us, who had planned a backpacking trip, only had one day to spare in Dali. We planned to take a train from Kunming the night before, do a day tour, and then return to Lijiang the next morning. We initially considered taking a taxi or bus, but decided that a private charter tour, while a bit more expensive, would be more cost-effective. The charter driver was attentive, using his smartphone to translate and always parking close to our destination. Thanks to him, we had a comfortable one-day tour. About 100 meters from the entrance to Heungnang Ancient Town, across from a public restroom, there was a coffee shop with a nice atmosphere and very affordable price. They grinded coffee beans on the spot and made Americano for 5 yuan. Maxim Coffee was 5 yuan elsewhere. Shuanglang Ancient Town wasn't that great. The S-shaped riverside road was a great photo opportunity. Chongqing Temple with its three pagodas was also nice.
