This day trip is very satisfactory, the staff of the elephant protection camp are very enthusiastic, serious and responsible, and the environment is also very good. Tourists were very few during May Day, and they had a great time. Elephants are free and live in harmony with humans. highly recommended!

The pick-up car arrived at the hotel door on time, and no one passed their WeChat. I thought it might be yellow. This elephant camp has gone to relatively few Chinese. Booked all day, it feels quite worth it. If you have time, it is recommended to order all day, no money is missing, but you can better get in touch with the elephant. In the morning, I made desserts and light meals for the elephant, fed the elephant, and then I gave the elephant a bath. In the afternoon, the herb bath water for the elephant, feed the elephant, let the elephant suck the water with the nose to spray the tourists, teach you to feed the food directly to the elephant's mouth, touch the elephant's tongue feels very wonderful, the elephant wears a hat for the tourists, etc., small tourists interact with a lot. We had a wave of 6 people, and everyone had enough time to interact with the elephants and felt very different. The lunch and end snacks included here also tasted good.

I like Ran Tong very much. There are 7 adult female elephants and 3 baby elephants in the camp. The female elephants are rescued at the Thai-Myanmar border. The 3 baby elephants are born in the camp. They are very cute, especially the 3-year-old male treasure. It is highly recommended for a day of camping. The half-day camp is quite rushed. It feels a bit of a process. In the afternoon of the day camp, I have the opportunity to play in the water with the elephant alone, take a bath for her, and give the old elephant a herbal bath massage. It feels more meaningful. If you have the opportunity, you will come again.
Product details

The Ran-Tong family is dedicated to protecting the future of abused and domestic elephants in Chiang Mai and throughout Thailand. Every elephant we rescue from hardship brings us one step closer to our goal of saving them from the brink of extinction. Our mission extends beyond protection and prevention—we also aim to educate the public about the historical significance of elephants in Thai culture.

Ran-Tong Rescue Center was established in 2009. With the generous support and private donations from the public, the Ran-Tong family has successfully rescued over 40 elephants to date.

Elephants have long been revered in Thailand. However, by the late 19th century, the teak industry became the country's primary economic driver, leading to more elephants being domesticated and forced into logging work. This large-scale deforestation caused sudden floods that killed numerous elephants and people, prompting the government to ban the logging industry. With their income source gone, elephant owners resorted to begging on the streets. This marked the beginning of elephants' transition into ecotourism and the establishment of this sanctuary.

In Thailand, elephants symbolize honor and sacredness, and they are also highly intelligent animals.

The Elephant Sanctuary provides a safe haven for elephants where you can freely express your love and enjoy close interactions with these gentle giants.

Bathe them, prepare their food, and take them for walks

Ran-Tong Elephant Sanctuary is one of the elephant camps in northern Thailand. Established in 2009 and located in the Mae Rim forest, it takes over an hour to reach by car. The camp aims to rescue and protect elephants. Here, there are no chains, and it's common to see animal welfare volunteers from Europe and America coming to care for and protect the elephants.

Here, you can experience the joy of bathing elephants, preparing food, and feeding them. It's a fun and educational activity for children to connect with nature, making the trip truly worthwhile.

You will also enjoy abundant meals and a well-paced itinerary on this unforgettable journey filled with authentic Thai experiences.
