Not the easiest place to get to so save yourself the hassle and ask information counter for help. But I would say it’s worth the trip if you have kids crazy about Sanrio characters. I would skip the shows unless you understand Japanese. The best ride is the Boat Ride so pay for the priority pass for this ride (about a thousand yen for a family). The vending machine for these passes can be found next to each ride and are specific to each ride. There’s good shopping at nearby Tama Center.

Sanrio Puroland, also known as Hello Kitty Land, is an indoor amusement park based on Sanrio cartoon stars. Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pom Pom Purin, and Jewelpet are everywhere to be found. Fantasy-like, inviting, and full of creativity, it is a popular attraction for both children and adults. This theme park gives visitors the chance to meet their favorite stars and, because it is set indoors, you can enjoy the parades and performances without needing to worry about the weather or temperature outside.

You need not be diehard fans of Sanrio characters to enjoy this Sanrio park! We were two adults with no children but we still managed to enjoy ourselves tremendously with the shows, dining and souvenirs shopping! (loved the Hello Kitty Kabuki show with English translation and the midday Parade was worth the ticket entrance!) Do come early on weekdays and non public holidays if you wish to go on the key rides (for a less than 30 min wait).
Puroland is well worth the $20-25 to spend a day immersed in the world of Sanrio. I would recommend going on the weekday so you can avoid the crowds. We spent about 4 hours in the park but we would have stayed longer if there was space in the theater to watch the Kabuki show.
Loving all the sanrio characters! Food is aesthetically pleasing, merchandise you can’t get at your usual sanrio shop, and the pretty cafes! 💜
My trip to Sanrio Puroland started from the transportation hub Shinjuku Station, and it takes only half an hour to get from Shinjuku Station to Tama Center Station, which is the closest station to the Hello Kitty-themed park, by train (Keio Line or Odakyu Line).Surprisingly, it was found that I was welcomed by the Sanrio characters just after arriving at Tama Centres and Station. The ceiling of the station was decorated with Hello Kitty, Pom Pom Purin, Keroppi, and other lovely icons. There were lots of families with kids who got excited at the scenery. Sanrio Puroland was located within only 10 mins' walking distance from the nearest station. It’s time to enjoy a day out in the fantasy Sanrio world, finally!I understand that anyone from kids to elderly people and boys and girls can enjoy Sanrio’s attractions at the Hello Kitty theme park. Brand new events and attractions are released every year, and it is one of the hottest tourist sites in Tokyo these days. If you are looking for places for kids, rainy days, and accessibility from Central Tokyo, Sanrio Puroland is a wonderful option.
The Sanliou Rainbow Paradise that I am thinking of may be too high, it is not as fun as expected, there are fewer amusement facilities, and then there are no too complete goods for shopping, but the food is really delicious.
