West Lake Scenic Area in Hangzhou The West Lake Scenic Area, located at No. 1 Longjing Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, is a world-renowned integration of natural and cultural landscapes. It covers a total area of approximately 60 square kilometers, including a catchment area of 21.22 square kilometers and a lake surface area of 6.38 square kilometers. The lake presents a near-elliptical shape with a relatively flat bottom and an average water depth of 2.27 meters. Divided by Gushan Hill, Bai Causeway, etc., the lake is split into five water areas such as Outer West Lake, West Inner Lake and North Inner Lake. Three islets—Xiaoyingzhou, Huxinting and Ruangongdun—stand prominently in the center of Outer West Lake. Leifeng Pagoda and Baoshi Pagoda face each other across the lake, forming the core layout of "one hill, two pagodas, three islets, three causeways and five lakes". The scenic area features a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by warm and humid weather with abundant rainfall.
