Reviews: Private excursion to the Uros islands by traditional boat
Guest User2025-09-17
The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is because the description "private excursion to the Uris islands by traditional boat" was inaccurate. We did have a private tour and we did travel to the Uros Islands but not in a tradional boat. Instead it was a regular motor launch. We did have a brief ride in an adapted reed boat to carry tourists but it was hardly traditional. However, inspite of that we had a really good time. The guide was excellent, really well informed about the lake and the cultures that have lived there. He was enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge as were the local people whose island we visited. Perhaps the second island was a bit unnecessary after a really excellent visit to the first. Overall excellent but the publicity needs to be written to more accurately reflect reality.
Reviews: Lake Titicaca (Half Day) - Uros Island
Guest User2024-11-15
A few months ago, I went on a half-day tour to Uros Island at Lake Titicaca with some friends, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience. We booked the tour with Planet Odysseys, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. The company was super professional, but also friendly and laid-back, which made the whole trip feel personal and relaxed. The boat ride to the island was incredible. The views of the lake were stunning, and we got to learn a lot about the Uros people, their unique floating islands, and how they live. It was so cool to see how they build their homes using reeds and how they’ve been able to adapt to life on the water for centuries. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and we even got a chance to try out some local food and take part in traditional activities. It felt like a real cultural exchange rather than just a typical touristy thing. I highly recommend Planet Odysseys for anyone visiting the area. They made everything easy, and we felt like we got to experience something special that we wouldn’t have if we’d gone with a bigger, more generic tour company. Definitely worth it!
