St. Paul's Cathedral

St. Paul's Cathedral is one of London's iconic landmarks, designed and rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666, and completed in 1710. A church has stood on this site since 604 AD, and the current building is over 300 years old. It is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture and a venue for major national ceremonies in the United Kingdom—from the state funerals of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, and Winston Churchill, to the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and the thanksgiving service for Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, all held here. The centerpiece of the cathedral is its three-layered dome: the inner dome rises 225 feet high and 102 feet in diameter, visible from the cathedral's interior; the middle layer is a brick cone supporting the lantern tower; the outer layer is a lead-covered timber dome, visible from the exterior. Atop the dome are a golden ball and cross, reaching a total height of 365 feet. For more than 250 years it dominated the London skyline, until buildings surpassed its height in the early 1960s. Inside the dome is the Whispering Gallery, renowned for its unique acoustics; continuing upward leads to the Stone Gallery and the Golden Gallery, which offer panoramic views of London. The cathedral features over six million pieces of glass mosaic decoration. The organ has more than seven thousand pipes, over a hundred stops, and five keyboards, and both Mendelssohn and Handel once played here. The cathedral's crypt is vast, spanning beneath the entire building, and is the burial place of British notables such as Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, the painter Turner, and Sir Fleming, and a memorial to Nightingale is also located here. The cathedral's architect, Sir Wren, is himself buried here as well, and the Latin inscription before his tomb means "If you seek his monument, look around you."London · 84.4km from Bicester

Westminster Abbey is honestly not highly recommended unless you want to see the graves of royalty or famous people, like Newton and Hawking, whom we found there. But if you don't enjoy visiting graves, there's no need to go.

The must-see exhibit is the Royal Jewels exhibition. A basic understanding of British history is recommended for a truly worthwhile visit. From here, you can see Tower Bridge and The Shard. It's easily accessible by the Underground.

Much cheaper than the official website, and the entry was incredibly smooth. The Great Dome was absolutely stunning; it was definitely worth the effort to climb up and overlook the east bank of the Thames. I even went to see the Harry Potter staircase from the staff. A truly fulfilling experience.

There are many parks of various sizes like Garth Park in the UK. The environment is good, the scenery is great, the green coverage rate is high, and there are many local residents. It is a very down-to-earth life scene!

Traveling with a family member who had just undergone surgery, I initially thought staying in a hotel would be somewhat compromised, but I was completely moved by the thoughtfulness hidden in the details. True quality is revealed in the small things; meticulous service embodies the highest level of hospitality. During check-in, the staff noticed my family member's mobility issues and, without us even asking, proactively moved the room to the closest position to the elevator. They had already padded all the sharp table corners, laid two layers of non-slip mats in the bathroom, and ensured the handrails were at the perfect height for my elderly relative to get up. Throughout the trip, they didn't explicitly emphasize "what we did for you," yet they always appeared when needed: when my family member wanted warm porridge, the kitchen quickly brought out a bowl of perfectly cooked, soft millet porridge, the temperature just right; upon returning from a walk, we found a lightweight folding wheelchair at the door. There was no unnecessary sales pitch, no excessive intrusion. This just-right sense of proportion is the highest form of gentleness and respect; this unassuming care is more reassuring than any deliberate enthusiasm.
