Bayinbulak Swan Lake is located in Bayinbulak Grassland Scenic Spot. It is one of the two famous landscapes in Bayinbulak grassland (the other is nine bends and eighteen bends). Also because of the popularity of Swan Lake, in recent years, Bayinbulak grassland has become famous. The scenic spot is also called Swan Lake Scenic Area. Bayinbulak Swan Lake is a quiet lake in the middle of the green grassland. From June to September every year, many whooper swans come here to breed and rest, and the scene is quiet and peaceful. Many photographers come here to take beautiful pictures. June-September is also a good season for shooting whooper swans. At this time, the grass is yellow and the horses are fat, the water is quiet, and the scenery is very intoxicating during the swan game. To play Swan Lake, you must first enter the Bayinbulak Grassland Scenic Spot, and take the sightseeing car in the scenic spot. The sightseeing car will stop at three stops on the road. Tourists can take follow-up vehicles after playing, so they can take pictures here. In addition to Swan Lake, the other two stops are the Barun Kure Temple and the Basilik Observation Deck. Among them, the Basilik Observation Deck is the shooting location of "Nine Curves and Eighteen Bends", so you can have a good time.Hejing · >100km from downtown

Nalati Scenic Area is located in the heart of the Tianshan Mountains and the eastern end of the Ili River Valley, a subalpine meadow grassland formed on ancient alluvial deposits. Legend has it that when the westward-expanding Mongol army crossed mountains to reach this place, they suddenly saw a sunlit plain carpeted with flowers. The soldiers exclaimed "Nalati," which means "the place with sunlight" in Mongolian, giving the area its enduring name. The attraction integrates snow-capped mountains, forests, valleys, meadows, and rivers, primarily divided into several sections: the River Valley Grassland, Sky Grassland, Panlong Valley Trail, and Wolta Jiaota. Along the River Valley Grassland by the Gongnaisi River, visitors can find Tawusani (meaning "beautiful mountain valley" in Kazakh), ancient tombs from the Wusun people of the Han dynasties, and the Grassland Tribe recreating Wusun tribal life. Following the uphill ride on the mountain road leads to the Sky Grassland, a high-altitude meadow suspended among peaks. The Tianjie Terrace at the boundary between the valley and grassland offers expansive views, while Snow Lotus Valley at the trail's end is often shrouded in mist, with snow lotuses blooming in midsummer. The Panlong Valley Trail is a forest loop without backtracking, flanked by towering Tianshan spruces. The Wolta Jiaota section is ideal for hiking, with the Tianxian Terrace providing stunning views of sunrise above sea of clouds. From June to September each year, the grassland enters its golden season, with lush green pastures and blooming wildflowers everywhere. Kazakh herders drive herds of cattle, sheep, and horses into summer pastures, where scattered yurts and curling smoke create a picturesque scene. Visiting the attraction during this time allows you to ride horses, try archery, and dress in traditional ethnic costumes. You might also encounter traditional equestrian activities like horse racing, kokpar (goat grabbing), and kyz kuu (girl chasing), experiencing the authentic Kazakh nomadic culture between snow-capped mountains and meadows.Xinyuan · 24km from Bayanbulak

Nalati Sky Grassland is one of the core scenic areas of the Nalati Scenic Area in Ili. It is situated on a high mountain plateau above the river valley grassland, with an average altitude of over 2,000m, and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks on three sides. The grassland is suspended between the river valley and the snow line, with clouds and mist often gathering and dispersing beneath your feet, which is how the name "Sky Grassland" originated. Ascend to the Tianjie Platform to overlook the layered, rolling river valley grassland on one side, and the alpine meadows stretching toward the horizon on the other. Snow-capped mountains, pastures, and yurts all appear in the same frame. This three-dimensional sense of depth is what distinguishes it from typical grassland views. The golden season here is from June to September, when the grass is lush and wildflowers bloom in patches. Kazakh herders arrive with large herds of cattle, sheep, and horses for seasonal grazing. White yurts and curling smoke from cooking fires are scattered among the gentle slopes and streams, forming a typical picture of summer pasture life. The route's final stop, Nomadic Homestead, offers a concentration of grassland experiences such as horseback riding, goat-drawn carts, and photos in ethnic costumes. The suspension bridge spanning the valley nearby is also a popular photo spot. If you have enough time, you can transfer to a sightseeing bus from here to go deeper into Xuelian Valley (Tianshentai). It has a higher altitude, with snow-capped peaks right before your eyes, and in the midsummer months of July and August, you may even have the chance to see alpine snow lotus flowers in bloom.Xinyuan · 24.6km from Bayanbulak

Nalati National Forest Park is located at the northern foot of the Nalati Mountain, a branch of the Tianshan Mountains, on the upper reaches of the Gongnaisi River. The Nalati grassland here is very famous. Because the average altitude is about 2200 meters, it is known as the "air grassland". There are flocks of cattle and sheep on the grassland, and the grass is green, which has the sense of oriental Switzerland. The park is divided into three major areas: Dadonggou Scenic Area, Luming Peak Mountaineering Area, and Spruce Nursery Viewing Area. Standing on the top of Basiliq Mountain by the Swan Lake and overlooking, the ancient Kaidu River is slowly walking towards you from the sky. This is the nine-sentence and eighteen-bend of "this scene should only exist in the sky, and it can appear several times in the human world". It is like a fairy's streamer made of spring water and snow water passing through Swan Lake, more like the holy Hada that God has put on for the emerald kingdom of Bayinbulak. When the setting sun shoots Wandao Xiaguang into the grassland from the gaps in the clouds, the setting sun shakes the golden, and the nine bends and eighteen bends that meander like a python reflect the nine suns shot down by Houyi.Hejing · 42.5km from Bayanbulak

Bayinbuluke is definitely worth a visit. Besides swans, we also saw Siberian red-billed gulls at the Swan Sanctuary, and the interaction between the lambs and swans was particularly interesting. It's really cold up there, so be sure to dress warmly! The scenic area is much larger than I expected. From the entrance to the main attractions, even with no stops and a speed limit of 60 km/h, it takes about an hour, so be sure to allow plenty of time. The weather was exceptionally good the second time, and I wanted to go back in to watch the sunset. However, when I arrived at the scenic area at 6:30 PM, the staff said the sightseeing bus had already stopped running, so I unfortunately missed it. 🥲 If you want to see the sunset, be sure to check the last sightseeing bus time in advance. Also, if you're driving, after watching the sunset, drive slowly and carefully as it gets dark.

The famous "Swan Lake" in Bayinbuluke is the only swan nature reserve in China. It is an alpine wetland lake with an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters. The continuous snow-capped mountains and icy peaks around it form a natural barrier for the Swan Lake.

Narat Grassland is quite beautiful, especially the aerial grassland, which is stunning. You can drive there; just buy a self-driving ticket. There are also shuttle buses. The area is quite large. Panlong Valley Road, however, was just average, not as beautiful as I expected. The river valley grassland was teeming with cattle and sheep, but since it was nearing autumn, the grass wasn't as green anymore. I happened to be there during a grassland music festival. There were no celebrities, and the audience wasn't large, but the park was very well organized. There were large, clean temporary restrooms, and plenty of police, so everything was orderly. The only downside was that the parking lot was a bit far from the concert venue, as the venue was quite large. Because it's relatively remote, there weren't that many tourists there.

I visited the Narat Grassland in early September 2025. It was early autumn, October, and the air was crisp and clear. The grassland was lush and green, with herds of cattle and sheep grazing peacefully everywhere. It was truly beautiful.

Kaidu River is also a very famous river. The direction of the entire river is exactly opposite to what we usually see in the eastern region. It flows from east to west. It is really a journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures. Were you inspired by this at that time?

Nalati Grassland is the best and must-visit scenic spot in Yili Prefecture. Since ancient times, Nalati Grassland has been known as the "cradle of the Kazakh people". The scenic area is very large and it is recommended to drive in. This scenic area is 5A-level, and every shot is beautiful. I have seen the grasslands in Inner Mongolia before, and the scenery of Nalati is definitely not inferior to Inner Mongolia. There are snow-capped mountains in the distance, grasslands, lakes, and forests in the near distance, ups and downs, and picturesque scenery. Nalati Grassland is a subalpine meadow plant area, one of the four major grasslands in the world. It has been a famous pasture since ancient times, and cattle and sheep can be seen everywhere. On a sunny afternoon, it is very comfortable and relaxing to drive around in it.

A scenic spot located in the Bayinbuluke Scenic Area, with a winding river, it is a paradise for photography enthusiasts. Watching the sunset and sunrise here are both very popular spots. Because of the refraction of the river, you can take a magnificent photo of nine suns here, but even if you take a casual photo, it is quite unique. It should be reminded that there are a lot of mosquitoes in mid-July, and it is almost difficult to endure long-term viewing. If you must go, you must prepare the corresponding equipment.
