Van Gogh Museum
•The Van Gogh Museum houses over 200 classic oil paintings, 580 sketches, 4 sketchbooks, and approx. 750 letters Vincent van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo •Revisit the arduous journey of this master artist's lifelong pursuit of painting techniques and his passion for art and literature •The two halls, old and new, each have their own distinctive features, yet blend into one harmonious whole △The old building was completed and opened to the public in 1973, designed by Dutch De Stijl designer Rietveld; the Van Gogh Museum's new wing was designed by a Japanese architect and completed in 1999, primarily used for temporary exhibitions. △The first-floor exhibition hall, titled "Heart-to-heart with the great artist Van Gogh," guides visitors through the artist's lifelong dedication to painting via a series of works and materials. The second-floor hall houses Van Gogh's works created between 1883 and 1889. Natural light penetrates the entire hall, which is spacious and bright. △ The building where the museum is located was planned and designed by the designer of Amsterdam Railway Station. It was opened to the public in 1885 and is one of the oldest museums in Europe. △ Go up the escalator and enter the viewing corridor. The corridor is composed of arched brick walls and large floor-to-ceiling windows. You can enjoy the panoramic view of the atrium hall. The library on the same floor as the corridor is not to be missed. The history of the library can be traced back to the 19th century.
