Castle of Santa Barbara was built in the 16th century, though the history of this area dates back even further. Items from the Bronze Age, Iberian period, and Roman period have all been discovered on the mountain. Today, this castle has become an iconic landmark of Alicante. There is an elevator on the side near the sea, but there is an extra charge to take the elevator up, while it is free to come down. There are many trails behind the castle that lead to the top, where you can overlook the entire city and the beautiful seaside scenery. After coming down, you can stroll along the beach. Interestingly, when you look at the castle from the beach entrance, you can see a structure that resembles a Moorish face.Alicante · 1.2km from downtown

The idea of building a bullring in Alicante arose in the early 19th century. Designed by the architect José Guardiola Picó, construction began in 1847 and was completed in 1888. Its construction was a monumental achievement in itself, given the technical challenges of the time and the complexity of bullfighting architecture. The Alicante Bullring features vernacular architecture, characterized by the influence of architectural elements from that era. This style is evident in the semicircular arches, the windows, and the ornamental details that adorn the façade and the interior of the bullring.Alicante · 907m from downtown
