Maowusu Desert Review

The Maowusu Desert is one of the four major sandy areas in China. It is located between Yulin area of Shaanxi Province and Ordos City of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, covering an area of 4.22 10,000 square kilometers. It is located at 37°27.5′ ~ 39°22.5′ ~ 107°20′ ~ 111°30′ ~. Including the southern part of Ordos in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the northern wind and sand area of Yulin City in Shaanxi Province and the northeast of Yanchi County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. There is more precipitation and favorable plant growth. It is originally a more developed area for animal husbandry. The area of fixed and semi-fixed dunes is large. The Great Wall runs from east to west through the southern edge of the desert.

Last November, I went to Yulin and took my children to see the Maowusu Desert. Although it is also called Maowusu Sandy Land, it is also very exciting and enjoyable for children who have never seen the desert. Of course, there is a big difference between the vast desert covered entirely with yellow sand and the one we see on TV. There are still many plants growing here.

The desert surrounded by oasis, formerly called Camel City, is very suitable for tourism after being transformed. Friends who like the desert must not miss it.

Maowusu Desert and my origin have been 50 years. In 1965, I participated in the socialist education movement in Hongshiqiao Commune, Yulin, Shaanxi Province, which is located in the hinterland of Maowusu Desert. It lasted half a year. I used to spend nine days walking the Maowusu Desert for outward migration. I knew the Maowusu Desert better. I went from Yulin to Wushen Banner in Inner Mongolia. In 2012, I returned to my old place with my wife, feeling a lot. I have deep feelings for the mountains and rivers here, and have friendship for everything here. In fact, the real meaning of the Maowusu desert has ceased to exist, the intensity of governance in recent years is relatively large, green everywhere, just on the map has been renamed "Maowusu sandy land". This time I went and found several dunes here for reference.

The desert turned green in the past, and the new face was changed from the sky to the earth.
