The seat of the Nguyen monarch ruled from 1802 till 1945, also known as the forbidden city of Vietnam, a symbolic icon of the last dynasty of Vietnam.

It is an old palace, but many buildings have been destroyed with the war.

not much really to do in the citadel itself other than enjoy the view around you, which is incredible. the size of the fortress is impressive and the huge flag flying over it makes for a great atmosphere.

Hue Ancient Building Complex (The Complex of Hue Monuments), located in central Vietnam, 80 kilometers south of the 17th latitude line, 654 kilometers north from Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, 1071 kilometers south from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's largest city, Changshan Mountains to the west, 8 kilometers east from the South China Sea, an area of 150 square kilometers. Hue City is built on the narrow plain on the banks of the Xiangjiang River, close to the bountiful mountain, Yuping Mountain. The climate is a tropical monsoon climate and the scenery is beautiful. In 1993, it was listed in the World Heritage List according to the selection criteria C (IV) for cultural heritage.

顺化皇城，也称大内，坐落于顺化古城中央，是越南阮朝的故宫。1968年被毁坏于顺化战役，这里尚未完全修复，断壁残垣流露出沧桑的历史感。皇城的建造以北京紫禁城为蓝本，仿佛一个缩小版的北京故宫，所以参观时会有似曾相识的感觉。皇城内有紫禁城，紫禁城分前朝后寝。前为皇帝平时处理政务的勤政殿，后为皇帝居住的乾成殿、皇后住的坤泰宫、皇太子居住的光明殿，以及其他后妃居住的顺辉院等。皇城内还设有旗台、太和殿和祭祀历代皇帝的宫广殿和庙宇。整个建筑颇为壮观，是越南现存最大最为完整的古建筑群，现已被收录进世界文化遗产名录。
