I have known for a long time that Yangzhou snacks are very famous and that you have to queue up if you want to eat them. After arriving, I found the most famous Garden Teahouse, and as expected, there was a long queue. But fortunately, the store has a rule that you have to queue up for a la carte orders, but you don’t have to queue up for set meals.
Yangzhou boasts a wealth of local snacks. Among them, the most famous Yangzhou snack is the "San Ding" steamed bun, renowned for its fermented flour and delicate filling. The "San Ding" refers to diced chicken, diced pork, and diced bamboo shoots. It's also known as "Three Fresh Buns."
This restaurant has a nice environment and looks quite clean. The signature dishes are all Huaiyang specialties, including various dried bean curd strips, lion's head, crystal braised pork, Yangzhou fried rice, Yangzhou old goose, Yangchun noodles, and various buns! Personally, I think the sesame oil eel shreds are very suitable for my taste and are very delicious.
Long queues are a must on holidays. There are fewer people upstairs for the set menu, so you don't have to queue, but you still have to wait for a seat. The 90 set menu has a wide variety of dishes, including braised pork, large boiled dried shredded vegetables, small boiled dried shredded vegetables, and kidney soup. There is a basket of noodles, including fresh meat buns, red bean paste buns, dried plum buns, three-diced buns, green vegetable buns, and steamed dumplings. I added a crab roe bun and a five-diced bun. After tasting them, I decided to buy them to take away.
The poetic and picturesque scenery of Jiangnan is fully displayed in the spring scenery. Go to the teahouse and order a large plate of boiled dried bean curd, and feed one or two pieces of steamed bun skin to the koi and swans in the lake. For a moment, I feel as if I have traveled back to ancient times and become a young man with free time all day long.
