When it rains, it drops to around 18°C, and it's even cooler in the mountains. · October: Mostly 15–22°C. Indonesia trip: I stopped by Surabaya on my way to Bali, and it far exceeded my expectations. Day 1: Sewu Waterfall. I originally thought it was just a bonus for the Bromo trip, but the scenery was actually quite impressive. It rivals Huangguoshu Waterfall during the high-water season, with the added benefit of being less commercialized. (Subjectively, Sewu is slightly better than Huangguoshu, which I visited during the high-water season last year.) Being able to climb a short section of the waterfall is a highlight, and the base of the waterfall at the end is very photogenic. The guides at the entrance are all nice and have excellent photography skills. Pitfalls: · If you aren't physically fit or aren't very athletic, be cautious. Some of the stairs are too steep, and completing the attraction is very physically demanding. · I recommend buying a pair of shoes at the entrance. A new pair costs CNY 16. Since many parts of the path at Sewu are directly submerged in water, flip-flops aren't grippy enough, and sneakers get waterlogged easily. · You will definitely get soaked at the base of the waterfall. For guys, I recommend wearing quick-dry clothing or going shirtless. Day 2: Bromo. It's legendary, no need to say more—it's truly awesome. I recommend booking the Cabin Artotel Bromo. It's a bit more expensive, but it's very close to the foot of the mountain, so you can even wake up after 3:00 AM to catch the sunrise. I recommend visiting the crater. Although it's not very photogenic, seeing it with your own eyes is still stunning. Pitfalls: · If you don't have the energy to wake up early, don't bother chasing the sunrise.
