Before taking the cable car to the mountain peak, the driver will stop for a break along the way (Sightseeing Bus) before reaching the cable car station, allowing you to take beautiful photos. Dagu Lake: A stunning emerald blue lake reflecting the snowy mountain peaks. Golden Monkey Lake: A spot where golden snub-nosed monkeys and Tibetan macaques are often seen foraging during winter. Make sure to keep your snack bags secure—these little ones are quick-handed! 😂 But you can bring bananas or fruits to feed the monkeys. Zena Tso Lake: A wide, clear lake surrounded by colorful forest scenery during autumn. It's a place where photos hardly need any editing. Absolutely breathtaking!

Don't want to go to popular cities and "fight the crowds" during National Day? 😵‍💫 This time, I recommend setting your sights on smaller cities! Accommodation isn't outrageous, you don't have to wait in long lines for food, and most importantly—**3 days and 2 nights is just right, you'll spend less and have a comfortable trip**. I've ranked these 4 cities based on "less hassle, great for photos, and delicious food"👇 Siping | A small Northeast city, best enjoyed at a slow pace · *Highlights ❤️** Siping feels like one word: relaxed! It's not as crowded as big cities, and the old streets, city architecture, and Northeast vibe are perfect for a Citywalk. · *Relaxed itinerary 📍** Day 1 Morning: Arrive in Siping → Drop off luggage at hotel → Take photos at the People's Heroes Monument Afternoon: Siping Campaign Memorial Hall → Heroes Square → Renxingli Block Evening: Visit the night market, eat grilled cold noodles and egg burgers Day 2 Morning: Enjoy the breeze and take photos at Erlong Lake Scenic Area🌿 Afternoon: Take a slow stroll through Yehenala Ancient City, take a set of Northeast ancient city-style photos Evening: Return to the city center for smoked meat pancakes Day 3 Morning: Siping city center Citywalk → Take photos of old buildings Afternoon: Buy some Northeast specialties before heading back · *Foodie favorites 🍜** Li Liangui Smoked Meat Pancakes: The crust is crispy and the smoked meat is fragrant; this is something I'll actively choose to eat again when I come to Siping. Grilled cold noodles: Full of street food vibes, the sweet and sour sauce is addictive. Egg burgers: Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect as breakfast or a snack. Northeast guobaorou (sweet and sour pork): The sweet and sour flavor is quite popular; if it's your first time, I recommend choosing the traditional flavor. Sticky bean buns: Soft, glutinous, and sweet, but don't order too many at once. Sour porridge: A distinct local specialty, though acceptance varies from person to person.😋 · *Travel tips ⚠️** The "luxury Northeast cuisine" in scenic areas isn't necessarily better than what you find in the city, and prices are prone to rising, especially during National Day. If you want to eat affordably, it's better to walk a few extra steps to the small restaurants locals frequent. Songyuan | Rivers, grasslands, and slow living · *Must-see sights 📸** Chagan Lake: The lake is vast in autumn, and it's very comfortable when the wind blows. Longhua Temple: The architecture is very imposing, perfect for taking atmospheric photos. Genghis Khan Cultural Park: Great for learning about local history and culture. Hadashan Eco-tourism Scenic Area: Climbing high to see the river view is very relaxing. Riverside Park: A walk in the evening is very healing🌅 Songyuan Riverside: Taking silhouettes at sunset is really photogenic. · *Relaxed itinerary 🚗** Day 1 Morning: Arrive in Songyuan → Check in → Walk in Riverside Park Afternoon: Longhua Temple → Enjoy the scenery near Hadashan Evening: Eat Northeast cuisine in the city center Day 2 Morning: Take a slow stroll around Chagan Lake, focusing on taking photos of the lake and reeds Afternoon: Enjoy the breeze by the lake → Find a coffee shop to rest Evening: Return to the city center for barbecue Day 3 Morning: Genghis Khan Cultural Park → City street photography Afternoon: Buy specialties → Head back · *Travel tips ✨** Songyuan really isn't suitable for rushing between attractions; the most comfortable way to play is "one focus per day." I recommend setting aside half a day for Chagan Lake; don't finish checking in there in the morning and then rush to the next place in the afternoon. Daqing | The oil city is surprisingly comfortable to visit · *Highlights 🥰** I used to think Daqing was just an industrial city, but after actually going there, I found that the city's greenery and lakes are much more comfortable than I imagined. Especially around National Day, the weather is cool, making it perfect for taking family out for a slow stroll. · *Travel tips 📷** The Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall is great for learning about Daqing's city story; Longfeng Wetland is perfect for seeing reeds and taking autumn photos; Liming Lake Park is suitable for evening walks. For photography, I highly recommend two times: **around 9:00 AM and after 4:00 PM**, when the light is much softer. · *Travel tips ⚠️** Daqing's attractions are scattered, so don't try to cram too much into one day. Driving yourself will be much more comfortable; if you aren't driving, plan your attractions by area in advance, otherwise you'll easily waste time on the road. Also, don't just focus on the restaurants near the scenic areas; local restaurants in the city center are actually more affordable. I recommend booking accommodation for National Day in advance, as prices will be higher than usual. Ganzhou | The ancient city's local vibe is amazing · *Must-see sights 🌿** Song City Wall: Few people in the early morning, it's very comfortable to walk along the city wall. Bajing Terrace: Climb high to see the Gan River, the view is very open. Yugu Terrace: Antique and charming, it feels great for taking photos in Hanfu. Zao'er Lane: The old street has a strong local vibe, and every photo you take feels like it has a story. Ancient Floating Bridge: It's especially beautiful to see in the evening. Ganzhou Ancient Floating Bridge night view: After the lights turn on, the atmosphere is fully realized.✨ · *Relaxed itinerary 🍜** Day 1 Morning: Arrive in Ganzhou → Check in → Song City Wall Citywalk Afternoon: Yugu Terrace → Take photos in Zao'er Lane Evening: Eat snacks in the old town Day 2 Morning: Bajing Terrace → Ancient Floating Bridge Afternoon: Ganzhou Museum → Drink a beverage by the river and rest Evening: Tour the night view of the old town Day 3 Morning: Sleep in until you wake up naturally → Buy souvenirs Afternoon: Have a Ganzhou specialty lunch → Head back · *Foodie favorites 😋** Ganzhou fish cakes: The texture is bouncy and tender, fresh and fragrant but not overly stimulating. Gannan stir-fried fish: Sour, spicy, fresh, and fragrant, but be sure to mention it in advance if you're afraid of spicy food. Hakka stuffed tofu: The tofu is tender and the meat filling is fragrant, very suitable for family meals. Ganzhou rice noodles: A bowl for breakfast is very comfortable. Ai Mi Guo (mugwort rice cakes): Soft, glutinous, and fragrant, suitable as a small snack. Lei Cha (pounded tea): You might find it unique the first time you drink it, but it has a lot of local character.🍵 · *Travel tips 💰** The biggest advantage of these 4 cities is the relatively low cost. For National Day, I recommend budgeting **CNY 150–300/night** for standard accommodation, and about **CNY 100–200** per day for two people to eat comfortably; you can combine taxis and public transport within the city. The overall experience is: **no crazy lines at attractions, no need to hunt for viral restaurants, and accommodation won't break the bank.** 😌 For National Day reverse travel, I actually prefer this feeling of "spending less and taking it slow." Popular cities are for watching crowds, while these small cities are for actually enjoying your vacation! 🎒✨

Siping in September is truly comfortable. It's free from the summer heat and the winter chill. The autumn breeze is just right, the leaves are starting to change color, the lake reflects the sky, and the whole city carries a quiet, healing vibe✨ It has the depth of Manchu culture, the impact of revolutionary history, and the unique warmth of a small Northeast Chinese city. Enjoy the scenery during the day, explore the ancient city in the afternoon, and have a hot Northeast-style meal in the evening—this is the right way to experience Siping🌿 If you are looking for a place with fewer crowds, low costs, and a slow pace, Siping in September is definitely worth a visit💛 Heartwarming experience🌄 My biggest takeaway from this trip to Siping is that it feels comfortable, authentic, and full of life. It's not the kind of city where you need to rush to tourist spots, but rather one that is perfect for taking it slow. In the morning, grab a smoked meat pancake on the street and watch the locals go about their leisurely lives; in the afternoon, go to the lakeside to catch the breeze and watch the colors of autumn unfold; in the evening, stroll through the night market and feel the warmth of the local people. What surprised me the most was Yehenala City. It not only features Manchu culture but also has a rich historical atmosphere, as it is one of the important birthplaces of the Yehe Manchu people. Walking into the ancient city feels like traveling back in time, with its unique ancient architecture and folk displays. Then there is Erlong Lake, which is really great in September. The lake is calm, the distant mountains are gradually turning yellow, and sitting by the lake in the evening to watch the sunset is truly healing🌅 The greatest charm of Siping is that you don't have to rush. Only by slowing down can you discover the gentleness of this city. Evening: Head to the Renxingli cultural and tourism block🏮 This is a great place to visit at night. Once the lights come on, the area has the lively feel of a Northeast street, and you can eat local snacks while you walk. Dinner: Have a Northeast-style meal. I recommend not ordering too much, as the portions in the Northeast are very generous. Day 2: Yehenala City > Zhuanshan Lake > Erlong Lake sunset Morning: Head to Yehenala City👑 Recommended route: Ancient city entrance > Manchu culture exhibition area > Empress Hall > Ancient architecture area It's best to explore this area slowly; I don't recommend rushing through it. 📸Photo spots: ✔ Ancient city gate ✔ In front of the Manchu architecture ✔ Lakeside scenery Noon: Eat nearby. You can try some local Manchu specialties. Afternoon: Head to Erlong Lake🌊 The lakeside scenery is especially beautiful in September. Recommendation: Arrive around 4:00 PM when the light is soft, which is perfect for taking photos. 📸Photo spots: ✔ Lakeside boardwalk ✔ Viewing platform ✔ Sunset reflection area Evening: Return to the city to rest. Day 3: Yitong Manchu culture experience > Nanhu Park > Return trip Morning: Head toward Yitong to experience Manchu culture. You can learn about local customs and experience the unique cultural characteristics of the Northeast ethnic minorities. Noon: Taste local specialties. Afternoon: Go for a walk in Nanhu Park. This is a great way to relax before your return trip. End of the 3-day, 2-night Siping trip. Travel tips📸 Photo guide: 🍂Yehenala City: September is perfect for wearing new Chinese-style or retro clothing. The ancient architecture paired with autumn colors makes it very easy to capture a great atmosphere. 🌊Erlong Lake: I recommend going in the afternoon. The sunset on the lake makes for great photo quality. 🏮Renxingli: Taking photos of the lights and people at night feels very special. Highlights of independent travel: The biggest advantage of Siping is its slow pace. You don't have to wait in long lines or spend a lot of money. Look at history in the morning, enjoy the lake view in the afternoon, and eat delicious food in the evening. Three days and two nights is just right✨ Important reminders⚠️ ❌ There is a significant temperature difference between morning and evening in September, so I recommend bringing a light jacket. ❌ Yehenala City is some distance from the city center, so I recommend planning your transportation in advance. ❌ Erlong Lake is best visited in the afternoon; the light at noon is average for photography. ❌ Northeast-style portions are large, so two people shouldn't order too much. ❌ Do not buy or eat wild animals or wild fish; choose regular restaurants and safe ingredients. Limited-time beauty🌈 ✨Yehenala City A combination of Manchu culture and ancient architecture, with especially beautiful autumn colors in September. ✨Erlong Lake A combination of lake and mountain scenery; it's very photogenic in the evening. ✨Renxingli cultural and tourism block The night lights and street atmosphere are great, perfect for walking and taking photos. ✨Siping Battle Memorial Hall Strong sense of historical depth; an important place to understand the city's spirit. Foodie's delight🍜 🥤Specialty drink: Northeast corn tea You might find it very unique to the Northeast the first time you drink it. The taste is refreshing with a grain aroma, perfect for cleansing the palate after a meal. 🥟Specialty snack: Li Liangui smoked meat pancake You must eat this when you come to Siping. The smoked meat is fragrant, the pancake is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it's especially delicious when paired with scallions and sauce. Experience: It's best eaten hot; the taste declines when it gets cold. 🍲Local specialty: Manchu Eight Great Bowls A representative of traditional Northeast banquets. The portions are generous, and the taste is home-style, suitable for groups to experience together. 🍖Specialty food: Yitong roasted pigeon The skin is fragrant and the meat is tender; it's a local specialty flavor. Reminder: Do not eat wild animals or wild fish during your trip; choose ingredients from regular sources. Budget guide💰 Tickets: Many city attractions in Siping are free, and ticket prices for some scenic spots are not high. Transportation: External: It is convenient to get to Siping from Changchun or Shenyang by high-speed rail or by driving. Within the city: Taxis are convenient in the city. For surrounding attractions like Yehenala City and Erlong Lake, driving is a better experience. Accommodation: I recommend staying in the city center. There are more options for dining and shopping in the evening. Cost reference: 3-day, 2-night per person: Transportation: CNY 200–400 Accommodation: CNY 300–500 Dining: CNY 250–400 Tickets: around CNY 100 With a total budget of around CNY 800–1,200, you can have a very comfortable trip. Hard-learned lessons😭 The biggest lesson: I underestimated the temperature difference between morning and evening in the Northeast! The sun is comfortable during the day, but it's really a bit chilly by the lake at night. Also, don't treat Siping as a place to just "check off tourist spots." The most comfortable way to experience this place is to sit down, eat, chat, and enjoy the scenery. Overall impression✨ Siping is truly a small city that will change your impression after you visit. For accommodation, I recommend choosing the city center for convenient evening activities; dining is very cost-effective, and long-established brands and small street shops are worth trying; transportation is generally convenient, and driving to surrounding attractions is more flexible; for souvenirs, you can buy some smoked meat pancakes or specialty pastries to take home. What I like most about Siping is that it is not overly commercialized. It has history, mountains and water, delicious food, and the unique warmth of the Northeast people. If you are looking for a quiet, affordable small city suitable for autumn travel, Siping in September is really worth a visit🍂 Best time to visit🌸 🌱May–June: The weather is comfortable, suitable for outdoor activities. 🍂September–October: My personal recommendation. Autumn colors begin to appear, the weather is cool, and both the lake views and the ancient city are especially beautiful. ❄️Winter: Suitable for experiencing the Northeast ice and snow atmosphere. If you ask me when is the best time to go? The answer is definitely September. Because Siping at this time has the most comfortable weather, the most beautiful autumn colors, and the most authentic small-city life✨

We recommend staying near Yingxiong Avenue or Wanda Plaza in Tiexi District; it's the city center with convenient transportation, and comfortable hotels cost CNY 120–180/night. · Afternoon: Visit the Siping Campaign Memorial Hall (free, reservation required). This is the core venue for understanding the origin of Siping as the Hero City. Through physical exhibits and scene restorations, it recreates the intensity and glory of the Four Battles of Siping. Then, head to the Siping Martyrs Memorial Tower and Hero Square to feel the city's revolutionary spirit. · Evening: Stroll through Nanhu Park, watch locals relax, and see the sunset reflected on the lake. · Dinner: Head straight to the Li Liangui Smoked Meat Pancake flagship store. This is Siping's culinary calling card. The smoked meat is rich but not greasy, lean but not dry, and the pancake is golden and crispy. Stuff it with meat, sweet bean sauce, and scallions for a mouthful of flavor. Average cost: CNY 40 per person. Pair it with a bowl of millet porridge for comfort. Day 2: Yehenara Ancient City and Erlong Lake, exploring Manchu roots · Morning: Carpool or charter a car to Yehenara Ancient City (approx. 40-minute drive, admission approx. CNY 50). This is an important birthplace of the Manchu people and the ancestral home of Empress Dowager Cixi. The ancient city is nestled between mountains and water. You can climb the city wall ruins by Zhuanshan Lake, view the Manchu folk exhibitions, and learn about the rise and fall of the Yehe tribe. · Noon: Eat Manchu Eight Great Bowls, sauerkraut and pork hot pot, and sticky bean buns at a farmhouse restaurant near the scenic area. Average cost: CNY 50 per person. · Afternoon: Head to Erlong Lake (approx. 1-hour drive, open lake surface, many free viewing spots). This is a large reservoir on the upper reaches of the Dongliao River, with islands in the lake and rolling hills all around. You can walk by the lake, take photos, or take a boat tour (at your own expense). Return to the city in the evening. · Evening: Eat Yitong roasted pigeon. Yitong County, under the jurisdiction of Siping, is the hometown of roasted pigeon. The pigeon is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside; the more you chew, the more fragrant it gets. Average cost: CNY 60 per person. Add a plate of grilled solid eggs or teppanyaki crucian carp, which are standard late-night snacks for locals. Day 3: Visit the morning market, taste Manchu delicacies, and return home leisurely · Morning: Go to the Tiexi District morning market or Gongyuan North Street morning market to experience the local Guandong atmosphere. Drink a bowl of corn grit porridge, eat fried cakes and perilla leaf buns. Average cost: CNY 15 per person. Buy some vacuum-packed Yitong roasted pigeon, Yehe white mushrooms, and Li Liangui smoked meat as souvenirs. · Optional: If you have time, you can take a walk in the Siping Botanical Garden (free) or Shanmen Scenic Area (admission approx. CNY 30). Shanmen Town is a quiet place in the suburbs of Siping. · Noon: Have a Manchu hot pot—sauerkraut, pork, and blood sausage in a cloisonné copper pot, dipped in chive flower sauce. Average cost: CNY 60 per person. A steaming end to your journey. · Afternoon: Return by train or high-speed train. 🍜 Siping must-eat food list · Li Liangui Smoked Meat Pancake: A century-old brand. The smoked meat is smoked with over a dozen Chinese medicinal herbs, and the pancake dough is made with the meat-boiling broth. Together, they are Siping's most famous calling card. · Yitong Roasted Pigeon: A traditional Manchu delicacy from Yitong. It uses squab, roasted over charcoal until the skin is crispy and the meat is tender, with juices overflowing when torn apart. · Manchu Hot Pot: Sauerkraut base topped with pork, blood sausage, and frozen tofu. The bubbling charcoal copper pot is the taste of home for the Manchu people. · Sticky Bean Buns: Yellow rice flour wrapped around red bean paste, steamed and dipped in white sugar. Soft, sticky, and sweet, it is a traditional Manchu staple food. · Corn Grit Porridge: Corn grits slowly simmered into porridge, served with salted duck eggs or small pickles. A classic breakfast for Northeasterners. 💡 Money-saving and travel tips · Transportation advice: Yehenara Ancient City and Erlong Lake are in different directions from the city center. We recommend chartering a car or carpooling; the full-day cost is about CNY 200–250/car, which is very cost-effective if you split it among 4 people. In the city, combine buses and taxis; the starting fare is low. · Accommodation choice: Tiexi District is the city center, close to the train station, memorial hall, and food streets. Siping hotel prices are affordable; you can stay in a nice chain hotel for CNY 180. · Best season: May to October is suitable. Erlong Lake is cool and great for escaping the summer heat, and in autumn, the forests around Zhuanshan Lake and Shanmen Scenic Area are ablaze with color—highly recommended. · Shopping reminder: Smoked meat pancakes are available in vacuum-packed gift boxes, but they taste best when eaten fresh. Buy freshly roasted pigeons, not the cold ones at the entrance of scenic spots. Buy dried goods like Yehe white mushrooms at reputable specialty stores. Siping is a passionate monument on Hero Square, a Manchu memory in Yehenara Ancient City, and a worldly delicacy in smoked meat pancakes. We hope you can find the most authentic warmth of the Guandong land amidst the hustle and bustle and rich history of this Hero City.

Siping is beautiful, but not recommended in August and September|An honest guide to this hidden gem hero city in Northeast China💡 Who understands! Siping is seriously underrated🔥 Known as the "Madrid of the East," it combines rich red history, Manchu ancient city charm, lakes and mountains, and legendary cuisine. But to be honest: I really don’t recommend visiting in August and September! If you’re planning a trip, please read carefully to avoid pitfalls and have a comfortable journey. ❌ The honest truth|Why not visit Siping in August and September Many think Northeast China is cool in summer, but the reality is very different! 1️⃣ Hot and humid, sauna-like weather In August, daytime temperatures in Siping often reach 28℃–32℃ with high humidity, making it feel hot and sticky. Whether exploring Yehe Ancient City or touring Erlong Lake, long outdoor walks can easily cause heatstroke. Early September still has lingering late-summer heat, with strong midday sun, making photos backlit and causing heavy sweating. 2️⃣ Unpredictable rain disrupts plans August is the local flood season, with sudden showers and thunderstorms. Mountain roads and lakeside paths become slippery after rain. Hiking at Shanmen Scenic Area or Yitong Volcano Cluster can be spoiled by rain, and lake cruises may be canceled unexpectedly. 3️⃣ Mosquitoes are everywhere, ruining outdoor experiences Forests, lakesides, and wetlands are full of mosquitoes! Especially at dusk around Erlong Lake and Zhuanshan Lake, even with plenty of repellent, bites are common. A leisurely sunset walk means constantly battling mosquitoes. 4️⃣ Lack of scenic variety, photos are average In August, the landscape is all green with no flower fields or colorful forests. Leaves only start changing color in mid to late September. Early August and September lack iconic autumn scenery, making it hard to capture stunning photos. ✅ Recommended best times to visit Siping ▫️ May–June: Gentle spring breeze, blooming wildflowers, comfortable temperatures, perfect for spring outings ▫️ Late September–mid October [best time of year] Clear skies and crisp air, forests turning golden and orange. Yehe Ancient City, Erlong Lake, and Yitong Volcano Cluster look like oil paintings. Dry weather with fewer mosquitoes and pleasant temperatures make outdoor activities very enjoyable! ▫️ Winter December–February: Experience Northeast China’s ice and snow and Manchu winter culture 📍 Must-visit spots in Siping|Save this list to avoid getting lost 🔴 Siping Battle Memorial Hall|The soul landmark of the hero city Free admission with ID registration (closed Mondays) Known as the Madrid of the East, a must-visit! Over 5,000 historical artifacts inside. The half-panoramic hall uses sound, light, and visuals to recreate the intense battles of the four Siping campaigns, making you feel like you’re there. After visiting, stop by the solemn Hero Square monument nearby. Allow 1.5–2 hours. 🏯 Yehe Nara Ancient City|Hometown of Empress Dowager Cixi, Manchu culture 40 minutes from downtown, tickets about 47 yuan Home to two empresses, the Manchu name means “sun by the river.” Features bluestone walls, octagonal watchtowers, and Zhuanshan Lake. Highly recommend arriving at sunset when the sun sets on the ancient walls, creating a magical atmosphere. Tickets are discounted after 4 PM. 🌊 Erlong Lake Scenic Area|Northern Thousand Islands Lake Vast clear waters and a famous filming location. Drive or rent an electric scooter around the lake, or take a boat cruise. Many lakeside farmhouses serve specialty iron pot stewed fathead fish—definitely try it. ⚠️ Important: August is hot and humid by the lake with many mosquitoes, so plan visits early morning or evening. ⛰️ Shanmen Scenic Area & Yitong Volcano Cluster A 200-million-year-old volcanic geological wonder! Numerous volcanic cones scattered around, perfect for hiking and geology enthusiasts. The summit offers panoramic views of Shanmen Reservoir. Autumn brings colorful forests and stunning views; summer hikes are hot and trails slippery after rain, so wear non-slip shoes. 📸 Off-the-beaten-path spots Nanhu Park: urban oasis, very pleasant for autumn walks Dizhi Street Night Market: a local favorite night market, experience Siping’s lively atmosphere Yitong Manchu Museum: deep dive into Manchu folk culture 🍜 Siping food highlights|Must-try dishes ▫️ Li Lianguo smoked meat pancake|Siping’s signature intangible cultural heritage food A century-old shop! If your schedule is flexible, I sincerely recommend avoiding August and September and visiting in late September instead. Blue skies, colorful forests, clear lakes, cool breezes without heat or mosquitoes—only then can you truly experience the unique romance of this hero city.

The city features Manchu folk culture exhibitions and Shaman performances. Allow 2–3 hours for a leisurely stroll. 3. Erlong Lake Scenic Area 🌊 (Free, all day, 30-minute drive from city center) Jilin's super-large reservoir, with lakeside boardwalks, boat tours, and an island in the middle. It's a filming location for "Country Love." The sunset over the "orange sea" in the evening is divine. Use sun protection in summer and enjoy winter fishing in winter. 4. Renxingli Immersive Street 🏮 (Free, best after 5:00 PM when lights turn on) A 520-meter blend of ancient charm and cyberpunk, featuring Manchu wedding shows and light shows. Packed with snacks and cultural creative products, it's Siping's version of "Grand Tang Everbright City." 5. Mengjialing Small Tianchi 💎 (Mine pit emerald pool, check operating status before going) A two-tone blue and green mine pit lake. On sunny days, it looks like a natural gem. Wear bright clothes for amazing reflection photos—it has recently been temporarily closed, so be sure to check its status before you go. 🗺️Choose between two routes ⏱️1-day essential version (for those passing through/transiting) Morning: Siping Battle Memorial Hall → Heroes' Square → Martyrs' Memorial Tower Noon: Li Liangui Smoked Meat Pancake (Zhanqian Main Store, Gulu Ba Road) Afternoon: Stroll through Tiedong Botanical Garden → Renxingli for night tour and snacks Suitable for friends stopping over at Siping East High-speed Rail Station, with half a day to a full day to spare. ⏱️2-day, 1-night in-depth version (recommended!) Carpooling/self-driving is the most hassle-free option. 🍜Local foodies' delight list · Li Liangui Smoked Meat Pancake: A century-old Chinese brand established in 1908. The jujube wood-smoked meat is fatty but not greasy, and the pancake is crispy outside and soft inside. Rolling it with shredded green onions and sweet bean paste is the standard way to eat it. A nearly 40-year-old store, with an incredibly rich milk flavor. · Northeast Chinese dishes: Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork), sauerkraut with pork and blood sausage, iron pot stewed goose with pancakes. Remember to order half portions! 💡Hard-earned tips ① The Battle Memorial Hall is closed on Mondays. Bring your ID card. Enter before 4:00 PM to avoid a wasted trip 🌞 ② Yehe Ancient City is 40 km from the city center. Public transport is inconvenient, so carpooling/self-driving is preferred. Half-price admission after 4:00 PM, but the light show only starts at night. ③ It's windy by Erlong Lake. Use sun protection and mosquito repellent in summer. In winter, it's 5 degrees colder than the city, so bring a thick coat. ④ Northeast Chinese dishes are genuinely large. For two people, order a maximum of 2 dishes, 1 staple, and 1 snack. Don't try to order a whole table like the locals. ⑤ Siping Station (old station) is in the city center. Siping East Station (high-speed rail) is in the east of the city. A taxi into the city takes 20 minutes. Check carefully when booking hotels to avoid booking in the wrong area.

🌞 Must-have outfits|August in Siping means the sun is seriously harsh, and the rain can start anytime Don’t be fooled by the word "Northeast." In August, daytime temperatures in Siping can reach 30℃. Standing under the sun for 10 minutes will make you sweat like crazy. 👕 Short sleeves and shorts are the go-to, but the temperature difference between morning and night can feel like "fall overnight," so a light jacket is a must in your bag. 🧥 When hiking at Shanmen Scenic Area or exploring the ruins at Yehe Ancient City, a pair of non-slip sneakers beats everything else—the volcanic rock trail gets as slippery as glass after rain. ☂️ Don’t forget the usual trio: folding umbrella, sunscreen, and sunglasses. The UV rays by the lake will teach you a lesson in no time. 🍜 Authentic food|The smoked meat pancake will awaken your soul with its aroma Coming to Siping without trying Li Lianguo’s smoked meat pancake is a wasted trip! The main store near the station offers a smoked meat combo with sour and spicy soup for 28 yuan, filling you up. The pancake crust is so crispy it flakes, and the smoked meat is rich but not greasy. One bite and the savory sauce hits your brain. 🥢 In Tiedong District, Zhenghongqi Yitong’s roasted pigeon costs about 45 yuan per person. Charcoal-grilled and juicy when torn apart, paired with corn pancakes, it’s simply unbeatable. 🌶️ At Nanhu Park night market, the classic sweet and sour pork is 15 yuan per serving, authentic and delicious. Roasted eggs are 1 yuan each, a price unchanged for 20 years. Grab a cold beer and sit by the roadside—the spirit of the Northeast comes alive. 🍻 To experience Manchu flavors, try the Manchu hot pot set for two near Yehe Ancient City. The wild mountain vegetables are incredibly fresh when dipped. 🏛️ Must-visit attractions|The story of the hero city is best explored on foot The first stop has to be the Siping Campaign Memorial Hall inside Hero Square in Tiexi District. Free entry with ID. Open 9:00 AM–4:00 PM (closed Mondays). The half-panoramic painting hall uses sound, light, and electricity to recreate the "Four Battles of Siping" battlefield. Every visit is breathtaking. 🏯 The second stop is Yehe Nara Ancient City, the ancestral home of Empress Dowager Cixi! Tickets are 46 yuan, and after 4:00 PM, half-price entry makes it a great deal. Snap photos along the ancient city walls, Prince’s Mansion, and Manchu totems. Wearing plain clothes makes for perfect ancient-style shots. There are three Manchu song and dance performances daily, and the sticky rice dumplings at the entrance are addictive. 🌋 The third stop is Shanmen Scenic Area, tickets range from 10 to 30 yuan. The 200-million-year-old volcanic relics lie right beneath your feet. Climb to the top for a view of Shanmen Reservoir—it’s worth it. 🌊 The fourth stop is Erlong Lake Scenic Area, free entry. Boat tickets are 50 yuan per person. Known as the "Little Thousand Islands Lake" of the Northeast, it lives up to its name. Enjoy iron pot stewed fathead fish with corn pancakes by the lake—the freshness will blow you away. 🚗 Transportation guide|High-speed trains and planes can’t beat this convenience Siping Station and Siping East Station have an absurd number of trains. High-speed trains from Changchun take 30–50 minutes, from Shenyang just over an hour, and from Beijing to Siping East about 4 hours. 🚄 Taxi starting fare in the city is 6 yuan. Most main district attractions are covered by the starting fare. Renting a car to Yehe Ancient City round trip costs about 200 yuan, with daily car rentals around 200 yuan. If driving, take the G1 Jingha Expressway. It’s a 1-hour direct drive from Changchun. City roads are narrow and busy, so it’s better to go around via Nanhu Road. ⚠️ Pitfall guide|Learn from hard-earned experience and avoid wasting money Don’t take unlicensed taxis at the train station; ride-hailing apps are more reliable. 🚫 The "shaman fortune-telling" and "Manchu sachets" at Yehe Ancient City entrance, and the "volcanic rock bracelets" at Shanmen are mostly wholesale from Yiwu—don’t pay extra for these. The "wild dried fish" outside Erlong Lake Scenic Area is actually farmed fish; it’s better to eat fresh lake fish. 🦌 Skip the forest zoo hype. Siping’s real treasures are its history, volcanoes, and lakes. Let’s respect the animals and not disturb them. Buying Yehe Ancient City tickets in advance on Trip.com saves 5 yuan. Remember the memorial hall is closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. August is the lotus season at Congquan Lake—free and uncrowded. Definitely worth a visit while you’re nearby.

July in Siping is truly an underrated summer getaway🌿. Before I came, I worried there wouldn’t be much to do, but after three days with an average cost under 600 yuan per person (excluding major transportation), I ate well, walked slowly, took great photos, and felt as comfortable as if the evening breeze of Northeast China had ironed me out. Daytime highs usually range from 28–32℃, which can feel a bit hot, but mornings and evenings are cool enough to want a light jacket. Remember to carry a folding umbrella—July rains come suddenly🌂. 🏨 Accommodation tips (no risk) Just open Trip.com, set the location to Siping city center, and filter for “Tiexi District/near the train station” or “near Wanda Plaza” with ratings above 4.7 for reliable chain hotels. I booked a comfortable chain hotel near the train station this time, with breakfast included, priced between 180–260 yuan per night. The rooms were spacious and soundproof, and it’s about a 10-minute walk to Hero Square and the Siping Battle Memorial Museum🚶‍♀️. If you’re on a budget, you can choose economy options like Hanting or Home Inn Select, where you can get highly rated rooms for 120–160 yuan on Trip.com. For a splurge, stay near Wanda Plaza at the Siping R&F Wanda Realm Hotel, right in the shopping district with everything you need for dining and shopping. tips: When booking, look for the “near Siping station” or “near Wanda Plaza” tags for convenience. Avoid booking in the suburbs—you won’t find anywhere to grab grilled cold noodles late at night🌃. 💰 Best price tips Book tickets and hotel together on Trip.com in advance to save enough for a smoked meat pancake💸. Siping Battle Memorial Museum: free! Entry with ID card. Closed on Mondays. Yehena La Ancient City: tickets about 48–60 yuan, about 40 km from the city center. Yimashu Forest Park: adult ticket 27 yuan. Nanhu Park, Hero Square, Renxingli neighborhood: all free. Lilian Gui smoked meat pancake main store: about 30–35 yuan per person to eat until full. Bamalu/Sanmalu morning market: tofu pudding with fried dough for 5 yuan. Three-day total (excluding round-trip major transportation): about 500 yuan for accommodation + 200 yuan for food + 80 yuan for local transport + 100 yuan for attraction tickets, totaling around 880 yuan. Easy to manage solo💪. 🌞 My lazy itinerary (no rush version) Day 1️⃣ Slow tour of red history Sleep in, then take a taxi from the train station straight to the Siping Battle Memorial Museum (starting fare 6 yuan). Exchange your ID for tickets. The panoramic painting hall uses sound, light, and electricity to recreate the “Four Battles of Siping,” giving you goosebumps🇨🇳. Walk to Lilian Gui smoked meat pancake main store for lunch. The century-old heritage pancake is flaky with layers falling apart, the smoked meat is rich but not greasy, rolled with scallions and sweet bean sauce, paired with hot and sour soup. About 30 yuan per person to eat until you can’t move🥞. In the afternoon, feed pigeons and stroll at Hero Square. In the evening, wander to the immersive Renxingli neighborhood, where ancient-style buildings meet neon lights—perfect for photos📸. Rest at the hotel, then head to Nanhu Park night market to feast on grilled cold noodles, snow skin red bean buns, and sip frozen pear juice—amazing🍧. Day 2️⃣ Mountain breeze in the Manchu homeland It’s okay to start the day later. Have a bowl of coarse millet porridge and fried cake at Bamalu morning market to feel the authentic Northeast morning vibe🔥. Then rent a car or hire a driver to Yehena La Ancient City (about 1 hour by car). This was Empress Dowager Cixi’s ancestral home; the Manchu name means “sun by the river.” Explore the ancient city walls, Manchu octagonal towers, and Yehena La clan ancestral hall. After 4 PM, tickets are half price. Wear a light-colored long dress to climb the city wall and overlook Zhuanshan Lake. The mountain breeze blows away all your worries💃. On the way back to the city, ask the driver to stop near Erlong Lake, where lotus flowers bloom in summer. Enjoy the breeze by the lake watching water birds—so peaceful it feels unreal🌊. Dinner is iron pot stewed fathead fish, a hearty Northeast dish with huge portions—one serving for two is enough to get full. Day 3️⃣ City stroll and return Save the last day for a slow pace. Visit the Yitong Manchu Museum in the morning (free, check opening hours, may be closed on Mondays). It’s the only museum in the country showcasing Manchu history and culture. After learning about Manchu culture, explore the area. For lunch, return to the city for authentic Hongqi Yitong roasted pigeon, charcoal-grilled and juicy—the top Manchu barbecue choice🍖. In the afternoon, rent an ice cart at Nanhu Park or just relax under the pavilions and willow trees. Local aunties dance, and older men play chess—this kind of relaxation you won’t find in big cities🌤️. Around 3 PM, buy some vacuum-packed Lilian Gui smoked meat as souvenirs. Take the high-speed train from Siping East Station back—about 40 minutes to Changchun, 1 hour to Shenyang🚄. 👗 July outfit cheat sheet The most reliable is the “onion-style” layering: short sleeves + sun protection shirt + light jacket. Big temperature difference between morning and evening, so always pack a folding umbrella☂️. Nanhu Park has many mosquitoes, so don’t skimp on insect repellent. For ancient-style photos, you can rent Manchu princess costumes at the entrance of Yehena La Ancient City for 30 yuan per set👑. Siping is a city without the noise of trendy destinations but full of the unique generosity and warmth of Northeast China. Three days is just right to soak in the red memories of the hero city, the ancient charm of the Manchu homeland, and the aroma of century-old smoked meat, all packed into your memory🌾. Next time, I want to try Siping in winter—I hear it’s a whole different scene.

In the afternoon, visit the queen’s hall to see the Qing empress exhibition. In the evening, go to Yehe film city (abandoned but great for photos) to take pictures. Who else gets it, sisters!! I wandered around Siping for three days, originally just passing through, but ended up completely hooked by this "hero city" with its summer nights and delicious food!! 🌿 No disappointments the whole time, prices are reasonable, this detailed summer escape guide is all you need to follow!! · —— 📍About the location (really not remote!) Siping is the "southern gateway" of Jilin. It’s 1.5 hours by high-speed train from Shenyang and only 40 minutes from Changchun!! Average summer temperature is around 25℃. When the evening breeze blows, it feels cooler than an air-conditioned room. Locals say this place is the "natural refrigerator of Northeast China" 🧊 · —— 🍢Food recommendations (gain 5 pounds in 3 days version) ❶ Li Lianguo smoked meat pancake main store!! The crust is so crispy it flakes, the smoked meat is thinly sliced with a smoky aroma, rolled with shredded scallions and cucumber, one bite and it’s legendary 🌯 ❷ Siping barbecue! Any alley spot will do! Beef skewers are 10 yuan a bunch, with the charcoal flavor wrapped in cumin and chili spices. Pair it with a bowl of cold noodles, sour, sweet, and refreshing—perfect for summer 🍜 ❸ Yitong roasted pigeon (a must order!) Crispy skin, tender juicy meat, when you tear it apart you can see the juice dripping down, finger-licking good 🍗 ❹ Hongbaolai peanut milk!! Locals have been drinking it since childhood. Chilled and paired with barbecue, it’s amazing 🥜 · —— 🏠Accommodation tips (clean, convenient, no regrets) Stay near the "station front business district" or "Renxing Street," everything is close! The guesthouse I stayed at was just over 100 yuan, the room was huge, the window faced the street view, and you can watch the sunset at night 🌇 (Avoid the ones near the high-speed rail station that solicit customers. Booking online is more reliable) · —— 🗺️Three-day itinerary (lazy copy-paste version) Day 1: Siping battle memorial hall → Hero square → Renxing commercial street (super comfortable for an evening stroll) Day 2: Yehenara ancient city (great for photos) → Zhuanshan lake (relax and daydream all afternoon) Day 3: Erlong lake (see the "Little Erhai" of Northeast China) → Shanmen town market (open only weekend mornings!) · —— 📸Photo spots (original photos straight from the camera) ✨Yehenara ancient city wall: wear a white dress and stand on it, with blue sky and grassland behind you, full movie vibe ✨Zhuanshan lake boardwalk: the lake turns golden at sunset, any shot among the reeds is wallpaper-worthy ✨Colorful stairs at Hero square: bright outfits, playful and lively · —— ⚠️Avoid pitfalls (learned the hard way) ❗️Don’t trust taxi drivers’ recommendations for "old brands," they usually have partnerships. It’s more reliable to choose yourself ❗️Lots of mosquitoes in summer, bring mosquito repellent!! Especially if staying overnight by the lake ❗️Bargain hard for Erlong lake boat rides! Cut the price in half! Don’t be shy ❗️Buses stop running early. After 8 PM, it’s better to take a taxi. The starting fare is only 5 yuan ❗️Don’t buy handmade goods at the scenic spots. Go to Shanmen town market, it’s half the price · —— This trip to Siping really surprised me so much. Low prices, genuine people, great food. I just want to stay here all summer!!

Entering the Siping battle memorial hall, I was instantly enveloped by a strong sense of history. In the half-panorama hall, sound, light, and visuals recreate the battlefield smoke and fire. Looking at yellowed old photos and weathered artifacts, the bravery of revolutionary predecessors hit me with shock and respect. This is the unique passion and sincerity of the heroic city. Driving to Yehe Nara ancient city, the bluestone paths wind and twist, and the ancient walls bear the marks of time. Wearing a Manchu costume, watching shaman dancers, and hearing the wind through the city tower, I felt transported back to the Qing dynasty homeland. The weight and romance of Manchu culture flow through every brick and tile. The most healing was the lakes and mountains of Erlong Lake. Standing by the water, waves ripple, distant mountains look like ink paintings, and the lake breeze carries the scent of grass and trees, blowing away all restlessness. On a boat tour, watching egrets skim the water, the sunset’s afterglow sparkles on the lake, so beautiful it leaves you speechless. No wonder it’s called the northern Thousand Islands Lake. Food is the soul of Siping. Li Liangui smoked meat pancake is crispy and flavorful, the Erlong Lake whole fish feast is incredibly fresh, and the night market’s fried rice noodles and grilled cold noodles are full of local flavor—affordable and satisfying. No crowds, no high costs. Siping weaves a gentle yet profound journey with its red heritage, Manchu charm, and lakes and mountains. Every scene and every bite here makes you reluctant to leave this hidden gem city.
