The local specialty is "Immortal Tofu," which is slippery and delicious with chili oil; 1 bowl isn't enough. ⚠️ Baitasi Temple is quite small, so it's not worth a special trip; just check it out if you're passing by. 06 Linfen | Shanxi You must visit Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River in the morning. The sunlight hits the mist at an angle, creating a rainbow across the river. In the afternoon, against the light, you won't be able to capture anything clearly. 🚄 It's about a 1.5-hour bus ride from Linfen West Station. Remember to buy the admission ticket and scenic shuttle ticket together, otherwise, it's a 20-minute walk to the waterfall. Hongdong Dahuaishu Ancestor Worship Garden is suitable for a leisurely stroll. The immigrant relief wall inside is worth a close look, with many details revealing the hardships of that era. I saved Yunqiu Mountain for the next day to explore the ice caves. The caves are constantly below freezing, so you need to wear a padded jacket when it's 30 degrees Celsius outside—the contrast is striking. ⚠️ Most "handmade vinegar" sold at the scenic area entrance is diluted. If you want to buy local specialties, go to the old vinegar workshops in town. 07 Fuzhou | Jiangxi What surprised me most about Dajue Mountain was its rafting. The entire course is about 3 kilometers long, with significant drops but not too scary. The first half is gentle, allowing you to get used to it, and then the continuous sharp turns in the second half kept the screams going. 🛶 Be sure to bring a change of clothes. There are hot showers at the end for CNY 10 per person; don't skip this, as you'll get cold riding back wet. If you're not rafting, you can take the hiking trail. The Dajueyan Temple at the mountain peak is embedded in the cliff face and has a unique charm. The Zixi bread sold in the ancient town at the foot of the mountain is good, soft, and cheap, perfect as a snack. 08 Shanghai Shanghai in August is truly hot, but with many indoor attractions, it's actually suitable for escaping the heat. The World Expo Park is now a cultural park, free to enter. The dynamic version of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" in the China Art Museum is worth seeing; the air conditioning is strong enough to stay for an entire afternoon. I recommend entering Yu Garden right when it opens at 8 AM. When there are fewer people, the rockeries and winding corridors have the tranquil charm a garden should have. After 9:30 AM, it's full of tour groups. 📸 The underwater museum at Guangfulin Cultural Relics is a great spot for photos. Half of the building is submerged in water, and the evening light reflecting on the water surface makes every shot beautiful. Don't try to brave Disneyland in the summer; it's hot and crowded. If you really want to go, buy an Early Entry Pass, arrive at the gate by 6:30 AM, and quickly ride TRON Lightcycle Power Run and Soaring Over the Horizon, then see what else you can do. ⚠️ Many "time-honored" snacks around Yu Garden are outsourced. If you want authentic ones, walk a bit further to the small alleys behind Chenghuang Temple. In August in Shanghai, surviving the day relies on malls and museums, and then enjoying the breeze on the Bund in the evening is the correct way to experience it.
