It's really comfortable to soak here for a while. There are public areas and private baths outdoors. My boyfriend and I went to a private bath. The privacy is good, and they also provide hot tea and fruit. It's really thoughtful! It's also a great place to bring kids. There is a children's play area, and kids can have a great time here! Friendly locals greeted us when we stepped out of the car and there were red, hand written Fu’s pasted to each pillar and door by the resident monks, in preparation for the New Year. The pagoda is over 1000 years old and is beautiful in its own right before you find out that it has survived a lightning strike and a bomb! Plaques all around the site tell you more about this small and humble temple’s amazing story, I’m so glad we got to discover it today!

#newyearadventure #tripblazers #china The winter months can get a little chilly in Henan, with temperatures below zero, however a place I always like to visit whilst I’m here is Huadu Hot-spring resort. Huadu has so many pools of different temperatures and different skin treatments (tea, rose, Chinese herbal medicine, even a fish therapy pool!) as well as an indoor splash zone for the kids. I much prefer this place to the alternative Huaxi, which is better in the summer with large pools and water slides, but a little lacking in the cold.

Towering over the crowded city, it has a history dating back to the Sui Dynasty in 604AD, that is until it was damaged by an earthquake almost 500 years ago and rebuilt again in its current spot in 1549. A little detail I loved about this hidden gem were the carvings of Buddha around the base.

During spring festival, the temple is heaving with visitors coming to pay their respects and bring in good luck for the new year. We however visited during the summer months, where it was open on a one-off. The female monks welcomed us in for a tour to see the buildings spanning a size greater than Jing’an temple in Shanghai! If you’re in the area, it is absolutely worth a visit! If you are looking to travel there, it is called the Amitabha Temple on Google maps and is in Zhangqiao town.
