Pu'er Travel Guide | Yunnan's Hidden Gems, Hidden by Dali and Lijiang, Enjoy a Wonderful Trip for Just a Few Hundred Yuan!
Yunnan's surprises don't stop at Dali and Lijiang; Pu'er, this lesser-known gem, is truly undiscovered! I went with my family and was completely captivated by the aroma of tea and the local ethnic culture. Fun activities, great sightseeing, and delicious food—it's the perfect weekend getaway!
First Stop: Jingmai Mountain Tea Forest Cultural Scenic Area, a Secret Ancient Village Amidst the Fragrance of Tea
Jingmai Mountain is absolutely stunning, home to 14 ancient villages. Among them, the Bulang ethnic village retains its pristine natural beauty. This village of 93 households hasn't been overly commercialized; the villagers are incredibly kind and simple, making for a very pleasant visit.
Take a sightseeing bus into the ancient tea forest, where you'll find tea trees over 500 years old everywhere. From afar, it appears as a dense forest, but up close, you realize it's all tea trees. Occasionally, you can even see herds of cattle grazing among the trees. Every snapshot is a masterpiece of nature. The large golden pagoda next to the east gate of the scenic area is a must-see. The intricate carvings on the pagoda are breathtaking, showcasing the craftsmanship of the artisans.
Second stop: Lancang Laodabao Scenic Area, the music village of the Lahu people.
This is the settlement of the Lahu people, who call themselves "descendants of gourds" and are passionate about music. Entering the village, you'll see wooden houses full of ethnic style. You can spend a long time exploring the weaving workshops and top-spinning workshops. Occasionally, there are ethnic song and dance performances on the main stage, creating a truly immersive atmosphere.
If you want to stay overnight, the Ctrip farmhouse on the mountaintop is worth checking out. It offers 20 high-quality guesthouses with fantastic views. We stayed at Xikang Yunshe in Mengsuo Longtan, Ximeng. The huge balcony faced the Longtan Lake, whose water was as clear as a mirror. Lying in the hotel looking at the mountains and water, all fatigue instantly disappeared.
Side stop: Longmoye Holy Land, exploring ancient ethnic culture.
Living just over ten minutes' walk from Mengsuo Longtan is Longmoye Holy Land, which feels like stepping into a real-life "Yunnan Insect Valley"! The valley is filled with cow skulls, each holding an ancient story of the Lahu people. The architecture here blends Dai and Han Chinese styles and now serves as a history museum; a visit is truly awe-inspiring.
