Approximately 56,000 died from forced labor, starvation, disease, and medical experiments. On April 11, 1945, when American troops arrived, the prisoners revolted and liberated the camp. After the war, it served as a Soviet special camp. Since 1958, it has been a memorial, featuring exhibits, a clock tower, a large clock, and sculptures to remind people of Nazi crimes.

St. Peter and Paul Church (Stadtkirche St. Peter und Paul), commonly known as Herder Church (Herderkirche), is located in the old town of Weimar, Germany, and is the city's most important church. Not the big cities but small beautiful historical towns are aplenty in Germany . Just 2 of the nice towns we visited by train. People are nice friendly and food is good . Many festivals around the year which enchant the local Germans and lure many visitors from around Europe to visit . Many other towns near and around Frankfurt like Wolfsburg and Erfurt , Bamberg full of rich culture and historical buildings. Just take the train and see all the beautiful towns

It's difficult to describe in words the sadness one feels at a place like Buchenwald. To see the machinery of death erected by the Nazis, and to know, to the utter shame of humanity, that similar places continue to exist in the world today. No words befit the injustices of such a place. #triplocal
