The Parador sits right on the Camino route with stunning views over the Miño River back towards Portugal. The hotel room is comfortable, the atmosphere is historic and the location means you can walk straight out the door and continue your journey the next morning. ✨ Highlight: Waking up to river views after crossing the border on foot. 💡 Worth every penny if you want to treat yourself on night one. · -- 📍 Redondela Apartment ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) A solid mid-point stay. Self check-in, spacious room and conveniently located right on the Camino route — which makes the morning start easy. One downside worth knowing: there are no stamps to collect here, which might matter if you're keeping your Pilgrim Passport up to date. ✨ Highlight: Spacious room and easy access to the route. ⚠️ Miss: No pilgrim stamp available. · -- 📍 Parador de Pontevedra ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Another Parador — and another highlight of the whole walk. This one has a cosier feel compared to Tui, and the location near Pontevedra's historic centre means you're a short walk from some of the best food on the entire route. After a long day of walking, being able to step out for dinner in a beautiful old town square made all the difference. ✨ Highlight: Location, character and the historic centre right on your doorstep. · -- 📍 Hotel Lotus ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) Simple and straightforward. Basic in terms of facilities, but comfortable enough after a long day on the Camino. Exactly what you need when your legs are tired and sleep is the priority. ✨ Highlight: Comfortable and functional — does the job well. · -- 📍 Os Lambráns ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) The hidden gem of this route. The location is slightly off the main Camino path, which I'd normally count against a place — but the food here is genuinely delicious, the service is warm and attentive, and they have the most adorable pilgrim stamps I collected on the entire walk. If you don't mind a small detour and no aircon in the room, it's completely worth it. ✨ Highlight: Food, service and the cutest stamps on the route. 💡 Tip: Factor in the slight detour from the main path. · -- 📍 Hotel Gelmírez — Santiago de Compostela ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Honest confession: my first choice was the Parador de Santiago — but it was fully booked. So I settled for Hotel Gelmírez instead… and it turned out to be a great alternative. The room is spacious — and after days of walking, the bathtub to soak your legs was genuinely one of the best moments of the whole trip. It's also very close to the train station, which makes leaving Santiago so much easier the next day. Not my original plan — but no regrets. ✨ Highlight: Bathtub, spacious room and great location near the train station. 💡 Tip: Book Parador de Santiago as early as possible — it sells out fast. If it's gone, Hotel Gelmírez is a solid plan B. · -- After walking from Valença all the way to Santiago de Compostela, the accommodations made more of a difference than I expected. The two Paradors (Tui and Pontevedra) stood out the most — but every stop had something that made it worth it. The hiking trails are super chill, some easy loops, some a bit more uphill if you wanna get your steps in. And the views? You can see the Miño River and even across the border into Portugal. I actually read about it on trip.com and decided to give it a try and actually the quality I found less amazing and the price is in Spain or quite accessible so you wouldn’t spend more than $20 in a single dish even if it’s like a top notch.
