Los Alcornocales Natural Park, located north of Tarifa, is one of the largest and most important cork oak forests in Spain. The climate is relatively humid, sometimes featuring the rare European cloud forest, with many forests, valleys, and streams. It is famous for its rich biodiversity (deer, wild boar, birds of prey, etc.) and hiking trails. The mountain paths are lined with pepper trees, and I always pick a bunch whenever I pass by. It is the southernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula and the southernmost point of the European continent. From there, you can see the coast of Morocco with the naked eye. The southernmost point can only be accessed upon prior request, but you can still reach (and walk along) the road that separates the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, taking some destination-worthy commemorative photos. The town is quiet and beautiful, not very large, and can be explored in a day.

Andalucia Tour ~ Tarifa The island and the interpretation center are very interesting. It has a history of thousands of years. Today it is an ecological reserve. You don't see many birds or other animals except seagulls. The Interpretation Centre is well equipped and provides a brief history of the island as well as information on the local flora and fauna and other features of the Strait of Gibraltar. The visit starts at 12 noon, but you must buy your tickets a little earlier at the tourist office in the city center (4 euros for adults, must be paid by card). This is the only slightly problematic aspect of visiting the island. The local guide gave a brief explanation in Spanish and English.
