old town square Warsaw
Beautiful place to roam , sitting on the bench enjoy the music and scenery at the beautiful building. For some people might enjoy having coffee in the cafe, but for those who is not the fan of the coffee can enjoy ice cream as one of the option. The ice scream at the square is the best ever.
two hours walking around the old town square might not be enough for the people like me who enjoy locally vibes.
Must revisit again and again#warsawoldtown #warsaw
Madame Interpreter’s journal Museum of King John III's Palace , Poland
Wilanów Palace is the Baroque gem of Warsaw. The palace and garden remained unchanged despite annexations, wars and occupations. The ruler, who gained the nickname of the fearless Lion of Lechistan, lived in the palace with his beloved wife, Maria. The Wilanów Palace was established at the behest of King Jan III as his suburban summer residence. The shape of the Palace is clearly symmetrical, with the building divided into the northern part, with decorations dedicated to Queen Marie Casimire, and the southern part, “assigned” to King Jan III. #palace 🇵🇱 #warsaw
Palace of Culture and Science, Poland 🇵🇱
One of the highest and most recognisable building in Warsaw can be seen from almost every part of the capital. With a total height of 237 metres (778 ft) it is the second tallest building in both Warsaw and Poland after Varso. Built by Russian workers, for a long time, it was considered to be a symbol of socialist power and the pride of People’s Poland – it was where conventions of the Polish United Workers’ Party took place. #poland #warsaw #capital
Warsaw , Poland 🇵🇱
Each city has a place that is its showcase and a must-see on any trip. In Warsaw, it’s the Old Town, entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List – it’s where the city’s heart has been beating for centuries. However, when you cross the Vistula River and look at the Old Town from a distance, you are struck by how unusual the panorama of the city is – skyscrapers rise above the red roofs of the Old Town. Historical buildings blend in harmoniously with modern architecture, and the city surprises us by revealing its second face. #warsaw #capital #poland
Wilanow Palace in Warsaw ⌛️🏰🕵️
The history of the Wilanow Palace, a wonderful Baroque royal residence, began on April 23, 1677, when a village became the property of King John Sobieski III. At the beginning, the residence built there was small. Augustyn Locci, the king’s court architect, received the task of creating only a ground floor residence of a layout typical for the buildings of the Republic of Poland. However, military successes and an increase of the importance of royalty in the coming years had a huge influence on expanding the initial project. Huge construction works were conducted in the years 1677-1696. After completion, the building comprised of elements of a nobility house, an Italian garden villa and a French palace in the style of Louis XIV. After the death of the King, the Palace became the property of his sons, and in 1720, a run down property was purchased by one of the wealthiest women in Poland of those days – Elizabeth Sieniawska. In 1730, the Palace, for three years, was owned by king August II the Strong, who made considerable changes in the residence, particularly as far as the internal décor is concerned.
In the middle of 18th century, the Wilanów property was inherited by the daughter of Czartoryski, wife of a field marshal, Izabela Lubomirska, during whose reign, Wilanów started shining with its previous glory. Sixty nine years later, the Duchess gave Wilanów to her daughter and her husband, Stanislaw Kostka Potocki. Thanks to his efforts, one of the first museums in Poland was opened in the Wilanów Palace, in 1805.#warsaw #poland #wilanow #palace #castle #museum
The National Museum in Warsaw
The National Museum in Warsaw is one of the oldest art museums in Poland. It was established in 1862 as the Museum of Fine Arts, but its seat was not built until 1927–1938. The building in the modernist style was designed by Tadeusz Tołwiński.
Today, the Museum's collections include approximately 830,000 works of Polish and world art, from antiquity to the present day. They include painting, sculpture, drawings and engravings, photographs, numismatics, as well as objects of applied art and design.
The museum houses a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and crafts from all eras, from antiquity to the present day. Masterpieces of Polish and world art are presented in thematic galleries.
In the 19th-century Art Gallery, you will be amazed by the most outstanding works of Polish artists shown in the context of European works. An undoubted attraction is the "Battle of Grunwald" by Jan Matejko. This is the largest Polish painting, the canvas of which is nearly 40 m2 (4.26 x 9.87 m).

The surprising Poland
When I have booked the flight to Warsaw I wasn’t expecting being amazed!
The large, clean streets with impressive architecture amazed me.
And about the Warsaw’s Old Town, it is the jewel in the Polish capital’s crown. It delighted us with its colourful tenement houses and the unique atmosphere of its narrow streets. It is no wonder that it has been entered on the UNESCO World Heritage list!
I did not see any other town woth these pastel trees by autumn, is amazing!

University of Warsaw Library
The University Library is a great looking copper clad building close to the Copernicus Science Centre between the Vistula and the Royal Palace.
Modern, finest architecture, sustainability, unexpected and cool are just a few words to describe this beautiful place.
There is a pleasant garden which can be accessed freely to the north-side of the Library. It is a mixture of grasses, shrubs and trees. The garden stretches upwards to the actual roof of the building.
Defiantly the biggest surprise of the holiday trip to Warsaw. Works perfectly to visit with both friends and family and also fits for couples.
Visit on a sunny day!

The Royal Castle in Warsaw
The characteristic shape and distinctive color - you will not confuse this monument with any other. The Royal Castle is the former seat of the kings of Poland. Go inside and see the royal apartments and the Throne Room.
Pay attention to the original paintings by Rembrandt and the canvases of Bernard Bellott, known as Canaletto, which were used during the reconstruction of Warsaw, destroyed after the war. See also the Senator's Hall, where the May 3rd Constitution was adopted in 1791 - the first in Europe and the second in the world.
Finally, step into the beautifully recreated gardens: the upper one, situated on the castle slope, and the lower one, at its feet, where the river flowed until the 17th century. Carefully recreated in the style of the 1920s and 1930s, they are not only a complement to the residence, but also a dream space for relaxation.
A huge lawn, flower beds, fountains, labyrinths made of hedges several meters high will fill you with energy for further exploration. If you have more time, stay here longer - you will see what charm the garden takes on in the glow of the lights lit after dark.
In winter, on Castle Square, you will see an almost 30-meter Christmas tree - a permanent element of the city's Christmas illumination. Go for an evening walk and see the light canopies over Warsaw streets and other decorations.

Old Town market square in Warsaw
The oldest and one of the most charming squares in Warsaw is the Old Town Square. It is impossible not to fall in love with this place!
It was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Celebrations and fairs were organized here, but also sentences were carried out on convicts. Although it has been in existence for over seven centuries, its form has hardly changed.
In the middle of the square there is a statue of the Mermaid, who became the city's emblem and protector.
If you are interested in the history of the city, visit the Museum of Warsaw or walk the Trail of the Cultural Cellars of the Old Town.
See also the barbican, the bell on Kanonia Street, take a walk along the old town walls and take a photo of the Vistula from the observation deck on Gnojna Góra Mountain.
Enter the Cathedral, which houses the tombs of the medieval dukes of Masovia, the last king of Poland, Stanisław August Poniatowski, and the outstanding pianist and politician Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
In summer, the Old Town is full of café gardens and becomes a stage for cultural festivals. In winter, the Old Town and the Royal Route sparkle with beautiful illumination.

Museum at King Jan III's Palace
It's not called like this by accident. Yes, Wilanów is smaller and perhaps less gorgeous than the French palace, but it also has a cameral charm that more than makes up for it.
The gardens aren't very extensive, but beautifully situated near a nature preserve and still large enough to warrant an hour-long walk, while the palace itself has some of the richest interiors you will see in Poland and boasts an interesting collection of European and oriental art.
In one of the wings, you even have an opportunity to witness experts at work restoring paintings and other exhibits!
It in an amazing place and I highly recommend it, bit inside and out. The inside is beautifully furnished with interesting exhibits, and the outside grounds and gardens are meticulously groomed. A must-see on a visit to Warsaw.
Tip: Thursdays are free admission days, and don't miss the free mobile app with different thematic guides (general, for kids, "women in the palace", "restoration process") - QR codes for the download available throughout the building. Plan 3-4 hours on site and enjoy.

The Old Town in Warsaw
The old town is a great place to spend an afternoon. Everything here was flattened in WWII so most of the buildings were rebuilt after the war.
Even though it is touristy there are a lot of good restaurants although they are more expensive than the rest of town. There are also plenty of souvenir shops and people on the street selling paintings or playing music.
It is touristy but fun. There are multiple museums, churches, and other places to visit in the area as well.
For culture and history is a mandatory visit, besides it is beautiful! All the stories about how is Warsaw the youngest old city and the mermaid protecting the city and the architecture, everything about the city is there, flavors music, colors and the friendly ambient. It is a walk around you can not miss.
The there are not many places to sit in, but they are kind and cozy. It's extremely elegant for a stroll in a stylishly rebuilt historical place.

The Royal Lazienki complex
This is a favourite of many people in Warsaw and the people of the city get great use of this park.
It has little palaces and statues, water features and a host of little delights scattered throughout the park. However, if one has limited time in the city, be aware that the park is very large.
It would take around a day to stroll through it and to enjoy it leisurely as it was intended. So, this is an excellent attraction, but better suited to long-term visitors or residents. If time is short, it would be best to skip this rather than rush it.
This is the most popular site-seeing spot in Warsaw, a real must! Fantastically located on two levels of terrain and on the slope between them.
It is actually an English garden with several-hundert years old trees, artificial lakes and cannals, picturesque “Palace on the water” (the residence of the last Polish king) and all the historical buildings beautifully composed into the terrain and park, delivering many spots of an unusual beauty.

Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanow
A beautiful place, both the park and the palace. It has its charm. Palace erected in 1696 at the request of King Jan III Sobieski. To see the whole thing, you need to have a whole day.
The palace itself is beautiful, giving an idea of the splendor of royal residences. The museum is surrounded by beautiful gardens. There are numerous ponds and branches of the Vistula in the park where you can go boating.
This is the oldest royal and artistic heritage. So I consider this is a must visit place if you are in Warsaw. The museum collection included valuables collected by subsequent owners of the Wilanow Palace, the Kings and other noble families.
The exbition consists of two parts: on the main floor, which are the royal apartments of the palace. On the first floor there is the Gallery of the Polish Portrait.
Don't miss :The White Hall, The Chapel, and the Statue of Jan III Sobieski, the King's Liberary, the King's bedroom, the Grand Vestibule, the Queen's bedroom, the North Gallery, the Etrican Cabinet, the Paintings Gallery called Museum.
But the most picturesque place is the museum itself. It's truly beautiful and the garden too. Spend half day here and you won't regret as there is not much to do in Warsaw but just wander around and relax.

Filled with history, tradition, and culture, there's something for everyone as you walk through Warszawa's Old Town. Whether it be cafes or lively markets, churches, or educational museums, they are all within walking distance from each other in this lively quarter.

the Royal Lazienki
The Royal Łazienki was summer residence of the last king of Poland Stanislaw August. It is situated in the city centre in the big park with gardens.
There are couple buildings of classicist architecture properly blended with water and nature. The Palace of the Isle with Royal Picture Gallery. The Old Orangery The Royal Theatre as the one the few surviving authentic eighteenth-century court theatres in Europe.
The Myslewicki Palace with the original polychromes. Nice Amphitheatre. You should be aware that alomost all Warsaw was destroyed during the II WW, but the Royal Lazienki survived, therefore there are unique.
Recommended during your stay in Warsaw as Łazienki is a natural destination for all the first-time visitors to Warsaw and a perfect leasure place for the people living here.
In my opinion, its perfect for a nice one-hour-stroll or if you have more time, just take a seat on one of the benches and imagine yourself the 18th century king playing cards or just having a walk. You may also consider entering Palace on the Water - a museum.
If you are interested in the Polish history there is a lot to learn here if not just enjoy!
