Staying in a cave hotel is so awesome
Staying in a cave hotel in Cappadocia sounds incredible! The unique experience of being nestled in those ancient formations is unforgettable. The cave rooms are naturally cool and cozy. The service at the hotel is wonderful. It is a feeling connected to the past. And indulging in local cuisine and tea sounds like the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture of Turkey.

Soaring over spectacular landscapes
A hot air balloon experience in Cappadocia is truly magical. As you ascend into the sky, you'll witness the breathtaking landscape of towering rock formations, ancient cave dwellings, and valleys draped in morning mist. The sunrise paints the horizon with vibrant hues, casting a surreal glow over the surreal landscape below. Floating peacefully above, you'll feel a sense of tranquility and awe as you take in the otherworldly beauty of Cappadocia from a perspective like no other.#travel #trip #Turkey #hotairballoon
Turkey: Myra or Saint Nicholas home
The ancient city of Myra is in Antalya’s Demre. The ancient city of Myra was built on a mountain slope overlooking the sea, and Myra is one of the places that impressed people with its rock tombs. Built in about 5th BC Myra was one of the most important cities in Lycia.
One of the impressive ruins of Myra, Lycian temples and rock tombs carved into the steep slopes of the acropolis. Also The Ancient Theater is one of the other important structures of Myra.
If you’re in Antalya I strongly recommend to visit this place. The easiest way to get here is to rent a car , it will take nearly 2 hours driving. Another option is to take a bus to Demre from Antalya bus station and to take a taxi to the ruins from Demre bus station. Actually the ruins are in walking distance and if you got used to walking walk another 20 minutes.

Turkey: Phaselis ancient city in Kemer
Phaselis ancient city is a well known place in Antalya. It’s located 5 minutes drive from the touristic city of Kemer or 30 minutes drive from Antalya city centre.
This place is absolutely stunning, located between the mountains and the sea, in a picturesque landscape with pine forests and wonderful views of the Mediterranean.
Phaselis enchants the visitors with its well-preserved ruins and three ancient harbors surrounded by crystal clear waters.
The city was founded in the 7th century BC, and was once an important trading port and played an important role in the ancient world. Its harbors served as trading centers.
Phaselis offers fascinating insights into the life and history of ancient civilizations.
Here you can walk through the remains of theaters, agoras, baths,streets and Toman aqueducts.
The beautiful beaches surrounding the ancient harbors are perfect for relaxing and swimming, get crowded in the high season but it’s not the reason to miss the chance tho see this wonder.
The entrance is for money unless you have a museum card.#turkey #antalya #phaselis #Kemer
Turkey: ancient fortress of Termessos
Termessos is a great place to spend one day on. It’s located near Antalya city center. It will take you half an hour to get there by car or you can take a bus to Korkuteli from Antalya bus station. Just tell the driver that you are going to Termessos and he will drop you where it needed. Go there early in the morning. The site is located on top of the mountain of the national Park. If you have no car, it will take you nearly 2 hours to get to the ruins or you can hitchhike that will definitely save your time.
It will also take you 2 hours to explore the area of the ancient city. Just at the entrance, you will see a necropolis which I recommend to explore. There are lots of well preserved tombs, you’ll see beautiful, carvings on them. Then explore the acropolis with its Theatre, Hamam, library, Agora and many more. For adventure enthusiasts, the surrounding trails offer scenic hikes that lead to stunning viewpoints, providing a different perspective of the ancient city.#antalya #turkey #ancientcity #termessos #trip #hikeinturkey
Turkey: Ani ancient city St George church
If you travel to northeast of Turkey, be sure that you don’t miss Ani ancient city as it’s a very beautiful, unique and historically important place.
Ani is located 42 km from the city of Kars, on a secluded triangular plateau overlooking a ravine that forms the natural border with Armenia. The continuity of settlement at Ani for almost 2500 years was thanks to its geographical location, on an easily defensible plateau that was surrounded by fertile river valleys at an important gate of the Silk Roads into Anatolia.
The most well preserved here is the church of Saint George which was finished in 1215.The exterior of the church is spectacularly decorated. Ornate stone carvings of real and imaginary animals fill the spandrels between blind arcade that runs around all four sides of the church. The interior contains an important and unique series of frescoes cycles that depict two main themes. In the eastern third of the church is depicted the Life of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, in the middle third of the church is depicted the Life of Christ. #turkey #Kars #trip #Ancient city
Turkey: Kars - Armenian border town
Despite the impressive history, today Kars is a small agricultural based town of about 80,000 people, making it the largest Turkish city on the border with Armenia. Kars is full things to see and to try, come here for 2-3 days and you will not regret it.😋
One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the imposing Kars Castle, which has stood for centuries and is a testament to the city’s rich history. Take a stroll through the historic streets of Kars and marvel at the beautiful Ottoman-era buildings that line the streets.
Walk along the streets and you’ll notice there are reminders of the Russian occupation in town including the Fethiye Mosque. Yes, it’s got two pencil-thin minarets, but other than that, it looks very much like the Russian Orthodox church it once was. ⛪️
Try local cheese, and honey they are the specialty of this place, buy some of these good as a present for your family and go to have a goose for dinner at Pushkin restaurant by watching Caucasian dancers performance, it’s the must thing to do in Kars☝🏼
You can come to Kars by plane or by bus, but the most famous way to come here is by train from Ankara (It will take you 32 hours).🚂

Turkey: 3 hours in Erzurum
Erzurum was the second stop of the Doğu Ekspres which goes from Ankara to Kars. We only had 3 hours to look around and it wasn’t enough at all. Erzurum is a big city with population over 700 thousand people. There are lots of places to see and lots of historical monuments. It’s a very clean and beautiful place.
Here are some places that we have visited:
1. Çifte Minareli Medrese- One of the most beautiful works that the Seljuks brought to Erzurum. The Double Minaret Madrasa Architecturally, it was built with great craftsmanship.The decorations, especially on the crown gate of the madrasa, show the best examples of the aesthetic understanding of the Seljuk stone decoration.
2.Three Vaults - three tombs with cupolas were built to show the greatness and dignity of the deceased. Therefore, these structures were generally built for great statesmen and clergy.
3.Erzurum Castle and Clock Tower - the history of Erzurum Castle dates back to the Urartians, who dominated the region about 2500 years ago.. The inner castle, which still exists today, was built by the Byzantine Emperor Theodosius in 415. The restoration has been done very nicely, both inside and with the landscaping. It’s a beautiful place to visit!
4.Yakutiye Madrasa - Yakutiye Madrasa was the largest of the closed courtyard madrasahs in Anatolia.There is also a cupola inside the madrasah.Indeed, like many works above, stone has been brought to life here.The embroidery and patterns are incredibly beautiful.
5. MUST! Don’t leave the city before trying it’s famous CAG KEBAP#turkey #trip #Doğu ekspres ##Erzurum
Turkey Ankara: one day in the capital
Here are few places that I visited being in the capital before taking a train from Ankara to Kars.
✔️Ankara Citadel
enjoy exploring the ancient castle walls, walking along cobblestone paths, visiting art studios and world-class museums, watching skilled street performers, relaxing in trendy cafes, and shopping in small stores offering a variety of products.
✔️The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations
The old bazaar building showcases the exhibits. Inside this Ottoman structure, the museum displays a variety of Anatolian archaeological artifacts, ranging from the Paleolithic period to the Ottoman era, in chronological order
✔️Ulus Square. Monument of Republic
Ulus Square is a historic square in Ankara, known for its significance to the Turkish nation. The square is located at the intersection of four streets, including Atatürk Boulevard.

Turkey: Hagia Sophia museum
This place is a must visit in Istanbul. Impressive Hagia Sophia is one of the best examples of the fusion of two great cultures the Byzantine and the Ottoman. I was amazed how such a huge and a massive structure could be built through thousand years ago.
Famous for its massive dome, Hagia Sophia was originally founded during the Byzantine empire as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral later on, it went through different lives as a Roman Catholic cathedral and a mosque. Later, Hagia Sophia existed as a museum.#hagiasophia
Nowadays, it turned back to mosque by the Turkish government. these days and you can only visit the second floor. The ground floor is for prayers only, but you can see everything from the second floor. The queues can be long, but don’t give up and wait as long as it’s needed as the architecture of this historical monument is magnificent. You will be amazed by the size of the domes.#turkey#trip #Istanbul
Istanbul: inside and out of Galata Tower
The Galata Tower, one of Istanbul's landmarks, not only offers a rich History, but also one of the best panoramic views of the city.
The medieval stone tower, built in the 14th century, towers over the vibrant district Beyoglu and offers 360 degree views of the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn and the historic peninsula.
A visit to the Galata Tower is an absolute must for any Istanbul traveler who wants to experience both historical wonders and breathtaking views. Getting inside is free of charge. on top of the tower you can take one of the best panoramic views of Istanbul. There is a coffee shop on top so you can get a Turkish coffee and watch the seagulls flying around the tower. ☕️#turkey #istanbul #galatatower
Turkey: Dalyan ancient tombs
Dalyan is one of my favorite places to go in Mugla province. It’s a charming town on Turkey's Aegean coast. I love it for its very slow and quiet ambience. It’s a laid-back town which is living its slow life near the river by observing the tombs of the ancient Lycian city called Caunos.
Things to do are:
1) take a boat to the beautiful Istuzu beach which stretches at the end of the Dalyan River. The water is crystal clear and you can swim there. Istuzu is one of the most important breeding areas for Caretta-Caretta turtles.
2) rent a bike and ride around to check the lush vegetation and breathtaking landscapes of the area;
3) in the evening walk along the Dalyan river and see the ancient rock tombs embedded in the rock facing the town;
4) another highlight of Dalyan is the relaxing thermal bath and mud bath in Sultaniye;
5)
I got there by bus from Bodrum. First I took a bus from Bodrum to Mugla city centre and then changed the bus for Dalyan. The whole trip took me 2 hours.#Dalyan #turkey #Ancient city #muğla #Istuzu beach
Kayakoy ghost village in Turkey
Kayakoy ghost village lies a short distance from Fethiye, it’s one of the most important tourist sites of Fethiye. It will take you 10 minutes to get there from Fethiye. This unique place definitely worth visiting. And I’m sure it will leave a mark in your heart.
It was a village where Greeks and Turks people lived next to each other, Greeks called the village Levissi while the Turks called it Kayakoy. It used to be a mixed community, and people obviously had a wonderful way of life
An earthquake finally destroyed the town in the Fifties, but it really started to die when the Christian population was deported from Turkey.
The village is now empty except for tour groups and roadside vendors selling handmade goods. There are a few houses which have been restored and are currently occupied. Kayaköy village serves as a museum and is a historical monument. Around 500 houses remain as ruins and are under the protection of the Turkish government, including two Greek Orthodox Churches, which remain the most important sites of the ghost town. #turkey #Muğla #trip #Village
Turkey: the longest beach Patara
#Patara is one of my favorite destinations in Antalya. Firstly it’s 18 km long beach. Secondly it’s a very important in 5 B.C. ancient Licyan city and port with its beautiful ruins. Thirdly it’s a small desert with huge dunes and an amazing sunset. And lastly it’s the place of birth of Saint Nicholas who is a very popular saint in Christian religion and recognized for most of us as Saint Nicolas or Santa Claus🎅🏼
Come here for one day and do these activities:
✔️spend sometime at the beach, walking along the endless shoreline;
✔️have lunch at the colorful Gelemiş village;
✔️walk around Patara ancient city, it will take at least 2 hours;
✔️find the road to the dunes and go there to watch the sunset there
#Patara #turkey #turkiye #antalya #2023trip
Turkey: Antalya Köprülü canyon
Another huge National park in Antalya province is called Köprülü canyon. You can definitely go there at any season as the place is just a fairytale .
The canyon is very deep in some places and stretches along the picturesque Köprü River.
There are fish restaurants at the rest area which work during the high season. Fresh trout is recommended.
The are two impressive ancient Roman Bridges over the streams. You can see that they were engineering feats of their times.
It must be stunningly green, and beautiful in summertime, also activities, such as rafting, zip line, kayaking and fishing are offered here.
Go there, and you will not be disappointed !#turkey#antalya #trip #freehotelstay

BE ABROADABLE - Nat the Expat Turkish Kebab
Situated in the heart of Göreme, Fat Boyz beckons with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the unique landscapes and cave dwellings that define Cappadocia.
One of the highlights at Fat Boyz is the pottery kebab, a culinary masterpiece that goes beyond the ordinary. The concept involves cooking succulent meat—whether it be lamb, chicken, or beef—inside a clay pot sealed with dough. This method of slow cooking not only preserves the juices and flavors of the meat but also imparts a unique earthy essence that elevates the dish to a whole new level.
As the clay pot is carefully cracked open at your table, the aromatic steam escapes, revealing a tender and perfectly cooked kebab. The presentation itself is a feast for the senses, creating a theatrical dining experience that adds to the allure of the meal.
The restaurant often features outdoor seating, allowing you to dine under the stars and take in the breathtaking views of Göreme's unique landscapes. The rustic charm of the surroundings complements the authenticity of the dishes, creating an immersive experience that goes beyond the plate.

Many of Antalya’s “beaches” are actually little cliff side hideaways, where locals perch on flat rocks and chat, and take turns diving into the perfectly clear waters. 🌊🏊♀️
While these beaches are not as comfortable as the pebble beaches, they offer a different, more local experience, as well as a better view of the breathtaking colors!💙🏝️
