Daanbantayan retreat
We wanted our first trip to Cebu and the Philippines to be special and so we booked this resort right at the start of the summer holidays. We stayed in the garden room which overlooked the lush green of the surroundings. The main hotel area has a water feature and is open to the elements and nature. Every morning we had beautiful birdsong. The resort was quiet which made it feel like our own little paradise on the beach. The staff couldn’t be more attentive and obliging. Kusina restaurant did great room service and the karaoke and other performances were entertaining. Kandaya resort was just the getaway we needed! #summerincebu #philippines #Getaway #Lovethephilippines

The church and the jail turned into a museum
Museo Sugbo is a provincial museum in Cebu City, Philippines. I find it interesting that this museum was once the provincial jail of the city. This museum is located in the former Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).
There are six galleries located in different buildings on the premise. Taking pictures and videos inside the galleries are strictly prohibited.
Cebu is the oldest city of the Philippines, going to this museum let you discover a lot of things about the history of the country. There are various artifacts that are displayed. There's a section where you can make a wish as well.

Lapu-Lapu and Magellan Shrine
The Mactan Shrine, located on Mactan Island, just off the coast of Cebu City, is a must-see for everyone interested in Philippine history. It commemorates the Battle of Mactan that took place in 1521 between the Spanish and the Visayan (central Philippines) native people, along with paintings and plaques about that battle, it also contains two other important shrines - the Lapu Lapu Shrine and the Magellan Shrine.
Although Magellan is now regarded by many Filipino historians as the "enemy" who was killed by Lapu Lapu, Magellan is still remembered as the person who brought Christianity to the Philippines (commemorated by Magellan's Cross Memorial in Cebu City) and as the commander of the fleet which achieved the first ever circumnavigation of the earth.

Ziplining in Loboc Town
This is one of the best zip lines I've had!
This is Loboc Ecotourism Adventure Park that features zip lines and cable car rides while overlooking the Loboc River. This is located in Loboc town on Bohol Island.
The zipline is 520 meters long and 120 meters high. It is a full-apron wrap zipline where tourists lie belly-down. The entire zip-course will take you above the forested mountain slope and the Loboc River. And it only take few minutes. I honestly wanted to go for another round but my friend was waiting. You have to wait in line to take turns zipping.
Getting there:
From the city, take a tricycle to the Dao bus terminal and get on a bus bound for Loboc and Carmen.
Ride a private vehicle or join a guided tour that includes the park for a more convenient trip.
Zipline – PhP 350/pax

The Taj Mahal of Cebu
This is the Temple of Leah, a Roman-inspired architectural temple located in Barangay Busan in Cebu City, Philippines.
The story behind this temple is fascinating. Teodorico Soriano Adarna had the temple built for his late wife Leah Albino Adarna, the grandmother of Filipina actress Ellen Adarna.
According to the actress, the temple was not built to be a tourist spot but a storage for her grandmother's things. But since the view from up there is nice, they made it open for public.
There's nothing much to do here, this can be a quick stop when visiting Cebu.
🌟Entrance Fee
Adult- P100
Children/ Senior Citizen- P50
Prenup Pictorial- P4500 ( No Time Limit )
🌟Getting there
From Mactan Island, ride a bus going to SM Cebu City.
Fare is around P40. Then take a 04D, 041 or 04H (Lahug-Busay) jeepney from downtown Cebu City, the fare is less than P20 per person; get off at the street to Temple Leah, and walk for 5 minutes to the site.
Ride a habal-habal at Lahug / JY Mall straight to Temple of Leah for P150 per motorcycle, good for 2 persons, or a taxi or grab from the downtown.

One bright day at Mactan Shrine
Mactan Shrine, also known as Liberty Shrine, is a memorial park where both the statues of Lapu Lapu and Magellan are displayed. It is located on Mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines.
The park is wide. You can buy woven bags, shell hangings, and local products right outside the gate. There are few food stalls nearby. And tourist guides here can speak Japanese!
You'll learn about the history of the first hero of the Philippines in this park.

The Monument of the Blood Compact 🇵🇭🇪🇸
This is the first International treaty between Spain and the Philippines!!!
The Legazpi-Sikatuna Blood Compact or Sandugo (Spanish: Pacto de Sangre) was a blood compact between the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna, chieftain of Bohol, on March 16, 1565 to seal their friendship following tribal tradition.
The sculpture re-enacting the Sikatuna-Legazpi blood compact was made by Napeleon Abueva, a Boholano and the National Artist for Sculpture.
The sculptured monument consists of 5 life-sized bronze images of men gathered around a table, with Sikatuna and Legazpi seated and making a toast. Three conquistadores, as witnesses, stand around the table.
We visited in 2019. They sold very few souvenirs here, and the sign behind the monument was missing 2 letters. I hope it's complete now.

Tagbilaran East Road in the Bool District

Binondo Church, Manila
#manilatrip
Binondo Church, formally known as the Minor Basilica of St. Lorenzo Ruiz, is a historical and spiritual gem within Manila's Chinatown, Binondo. This centuries-old church holds a special place in the hearts of both the local community and visitors.
The church's exterior is a fine example of Baroque architecture, with its intricately designed façade and majestic bell tower, which stand in striking contrast to the surrounding urban landscape. Inside, the church exudes a serene and tranquil ambiance, providing a respite from the hustle and bustle of Binondo's streets.

Stay at the Historical Center of Manila
If you want to stay near the cultural district of Metro Manila, book the Rizal Park Hotel. The hotel is located along Manila Bay thus offering pretty views. The hotel’s location is great for sightseeing as it is near tourist spots like Rizal Park, Intramuros, Rizal Monument, Manila Ocean Park, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of Anthropology, and National Museum of Fine Arts, etc. The hotel is also near important buildings (like the Embassy of US) so staying for business and appointments will also be more worth it. Restaurants will also be only a few minutes’ ride away. Me and my friends decided to stay here as we were planning to go to the museums after talking the whole night.
The hotel is in elegant colonial style. The lobby feels grand, and check-in was easy. The rooms are also decked in the same style featuring white and cream colors. I love the views from our room especially at sunset. The hotel has its own restaurant and has a rooftop pool.
Just be extra careful with your valuables when walking around Manila at night.

Food Tripping in Boracay
For the number of available activities, popular restaurants and for just relaxing at the beach, a 3 days 2 nights trip to Boracay is not enough. Aside from the island’s blue waters and white sand, Boracay also offers a mouthwatering variety of food. Some restaurants have already built-up a following thus making these restaurants a tourist spot themselves. As we only have a short period of time, we couldn’t try all the popular restaurants. We also used this food tripping to visit all the stations in Boracay. Listed below are the restaurants we’ve tried with it’s corresponding arrangement as uploaded.
1-5. Café Maruja – Located in Station 3, it’s a beachfront café that serves all-day brunch food. They’re especially famous for their instagrammable smoothie bowls.
6-8. Cha-cha’s – Located in Station 2, this beachfront café is the in-house restaurant of COAST. They’re also famous for their Ube Champorado, which I really loved.
9-12. Maya’s Filipino Cuisine – Located in Station 1, this beachfront restaurant serves Mexican and Filipino food. They also serve Jony’s Fruitshake. We devoured all the food we ordered here.
13. Coco Mama – Located in Station 1, his shop is also famous for its instagrammable coconut ice cream. It was also good for me, as I love sweet things.
14-17. Mama’s Fish House – Located at Diniwid beach, this restaurant is situated next to Microtel. They are famous for their paella, and it was so good!
18. Halomango – Located in D’mall Station 2, this shop sells mango ice cream. This was just okay for us but still worth trying.

Beachfront Hotel in the Bora's Party Area
Being a first-timer visiting Boracay, I have read that it’s better to stay in Station 2 as this is the center and the liveliest area in the island with the night life especially booming in this area. We also wanted to stay at a beachfront hotel to be able to get a beautiful view of the beach from our rooms. Henann Regency Resort & Spa both satisfy our preferences.
The hotel maybe located in Station 2 where the party and crowd are happening, it still has the peace and relaxation you need as the hotel resort is huge. The hotel is perfectly set backed from the beach allowing enough beachfront space for the hotel guests. Since our room is in the middle but still beachfront, we weren’t bothered by any outside noise. The rooms we booked were premier rooms and there were noticeable wears and tears but did not really affect the quality of stay that we had. The hotel room is just what we needed. The hotel has a lot of pools if you ever get tired of swimming in the beach. Another positive note is that the buffet breakfasts provided by Henann hotels are popular so we availed them upon our hotel booking. The breakfast buffet was impressive as they offer a wide variety. The hotel is also surrounded by a ton of restaurants of all cuisines and budget tiers. The beachfront and pool staff were the best as they were very attentive in giving out towels and mats for when lounging in either the beach or the pool. The only downside I can think of though is that the road to entrance is not nice but still passable and okay.
In conclusion, this hotel is a good choice for a first time visit in Boracay, of course if budget permits, with its location as the biggest contributing factor.

Land Tour in Boracay: DIY
One of the many activities in the famous island of Boracay is the land tour. This is also a nice addition to your itinerary when visiting the island aside from water activities. It is a different experience to go around the island by traversing the roads as you’ll be passing by the local neighborhood. You can arrange the land tour without online booking. There will be a lot of vendors offering this activity right as you arrive the island. The prices depends on the vehicle, no. of people, and the itinerary. You can also haggle down the price a bit and compare to other vendors.
We engaged a tour operator by the shore and arranged the details via text. Our itinerary is based on what my family and I wanted to see with the tour lasting for 3 hours. The tour is flexible regarding drop-offs and duration. You may extend for a fee but it depends whether the driver have another booking or not. We tipped our driver as he was very helpful especially in taking our group photos.
As featured in the photos, these are the list of places we went to:
1-2. Willy's Rock
3. Leaning coconut tree at Bulabog Beach
4. Boracay Station 2 shore
5-6. Boracay Newcoast (Cujo's Keyhole)
7. Puka Beach
8. Boracay Station 3 shore

CALAGUAS! The PH’s MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND!🏝️
CALAGUAS is the best of the best! 🌊
Visited this place with friends back in 2016 and I was astonished. This place is amazingly beautiful! 💎
Getting there wasn’t easy since it took us a few hours of boat ride but it was all worth it!
I have been to most of the famous beaches and islands in the Philippines but this one is really different. It’s not crowded at all. They have the best sunrise and sunset, it is calm and quiet, there is peace, the beach is really clean, the sand is fine and the water is crystal clear!

The Old San Roque Dam in Pangasinan!
#localescapes
My husband and I stayed in Pangasinan at my friend's house. Little did we know that she lives not far from the Water Dam in San Roque. We visited the old one only since we weren't allowed to enter where the new dam is. It was amazing to see this kind of place. There's actually an old kind of building where you can enter and check the place out. My knees were shaking though. I'm not a fan of heights on the contrary of my husband, he enjoyed the view being on top. The weather was nice so as the water. I think it's worth the visit since it's for free.

AN UNDERRATED CAVE IN TANAY, RIZAL.
I didn’t plan to visit Tanay, Rizal but my itchy feet took me there.
My original plan was to travel to Romblon but since I was not able to catch the last ferry, I decided to go to the nearest natural area from Manila. I’m lucky to catch the last Van going to Tanay and found a place to stay at Ellen’s Balcony.
The next morning I took a tricycle going to Calinawan Cave and I was the only person who’s about to explore the place that time. Or maybe people now are not interested in caving adventures?
I don’t see a lot of posts about Calinawan cave and i think it’s underrated.
I was amazed by its history and the tour became even more fun because of my awesome tour guide Jhepoy Matalino. The cave was really enchanting! It’s one of Tanay’s hidden gems! 💎
My caving adventure won’t be memorable without him.

Boats and beaches in Boracay
If you’re looking for sun, relaxation and warm seas, Boracay might be your next affordable destination and it’s easier to get to than you think. Take a flight to Caticlan airport and from outside the airport you can book your transport to Boracay with one of the tour operators available. I booked online with southwest tours, who picked me up from the airport, took me to the boat and to my hostel the other side of Boracay. But if you arrive with no transportation don’t worry, for about 800-1000 pesos, you can book your tickets and trip after you step off the plane.
Arriving in Boracay, I’d recommend taking a trip to the long white beach where restaurants, clubs and shopping can be found. I also took a trip to the remote Diniwid beach, which was quiet and small but waves and sand were great.

Baguio Airport Homestay is located in Loakan, Baguio. It is definitely near the airport. It is a huge house that has many rooms. Each room has its own bathroom which I really like. We stayed here since this is the same venue of my friend's wedding. It was worth it. It has billiards, Netflix, kitchen and a place to chill. If you know how to play the piano, you can also play it there by the living area. It costs 600pesos per person/night. I think it's worth more than the price. We had a great stay.
