*An overdose of pagodas and a taste of the unique #burmese culture* Visiting pagodas sounds drudging for an international trip, or so I thought. I didn't expect to find a distinctively rich culture amid the seemingly boring tour. As soon as I stepped into the airport, I knew I was in for something new - strange yet exciting! ✔Visited 8 pagodas in a day - couldn't even remember the names ✔Ate authentic Khmer's cuisine and delicacies - way better than Vietnamese food, but nothing beats Pinoy food ✔Prayed and did rituals like the Burmese do - really, it wasn't about religion, it was about faith ✔Applied 'tanaka' on face - it's the Burmese beauty cream, walked around the streets with yellowish paste on my face. It was a pretty normal sight in #myanmar ✔Wore the 'lungi' - it's a casual attire even for men, I was surprised to see a group of men wearing skirt-like garment at the airport (ihas mode on) ✔Walked barefoot on the streets and in the temples - my first and it was scorching hot, felt like my soles burnt. It’s located at Peninsula Plaza which is very convenient at the centre of island. What strikes me is the restaurant’s design. Indeed there’s this Burmese culture flavour in the decor with many artefacts with a very cozy but modern ambience. Localise in a way. The dishes really reflect their family restaurant concept and I enjoyed the food. Never expect it to taste that good too.
